Australia vs. India (4 tests) - Pre-series discussion

It's a shame India appear to be looking at the World Cup and have given up the ghost already as on paper they really look a good chance to win. To spite Johnson (who they must find a strategy for) none of Australia's bowlers will trouble their batsmen and a few turning wickets day 5 who knows? On paper is an all star batting line up but I doubt they have the lead in and necessary preparation to handle Australian pitches. Plus they seem more focused on the World Cup.

Australia on the other hand sniff blood and will be out to attain from Pakistan. Can easily see this going 4-0.

Is this a different piece of paper to the one I have seen?

Just heard on the radio that he's returning to FC cricket this weekend.

:thumbsu:

brilliant news as I see him as our most valuable bowler (even ahead of johnson)

Can't wait to watch the inevitable fireworks between Warner and Kohli. He's the danger man with the bat, need to cut him down with a brutal sledging and short ball assault. Should make for good viewing.

Big fan of Kohli, obviously a very polarising person but tipping he will win a few over ala Broad last summer this series. Reckon he will be only one of a couple Indians to stand up to MJ.

I think Harris is a gun and Johnson impact speaks for itself in recent times. The big question for me is about who is the 3rd quick to go with them. In my opinion Starc is not even close to up to it...so who, should it be

The $m question but despite my concerns, siddle will get the gig

I'd still have Mitch ahead of him, but they do really compliment each other really well.
Our biggest issue is still who bats at No.3.

I'd take Siddle over Starc for sure. I reckon Bird has a long term future but can't get on the park like the rest of the young blokes

Cummins showed a bit the other night but probably needs to do more to be selected

Like actually playing a first class game?

He seriously needs to be playing FC cricket soon. This resting bullshit is doing him more harm than good. He needs to be bowling long spells not 2 over spells in hit and giggle.

Unless of course we are happy for him to just be a Shaun Tait short form specialist because that is the path he is on atm.

Someones been reading news limited...

I don't rate their chances out here, but what on earth gives you that impression? Dhoni's got a crack in his thumb, why should he be playing?

"Injured NSW captain Moises Henriques has backed fast bowler Doug Bollinger to return to the Australian Test team after an absence of four years. Bollinger, 33, spent the off-season playing county cricket with Kent and impressed in Australia's T20 series win over South Africa and has already stated that he would like to return to the Test side for next year's Ashes series in England."

I rate the guy but unless there are 5 injuries to our top fast bowlers, I don't think he's a chance. Thoughts?

I rate him above starc thats for sure but starc has him beat on the speed gun as do others so no he ain't much hope in our current setup.

Basically had his test career ended after one rubbish innings on a dead adelaide track 4 years ago, players with worse records seemed to get a lot more chances to redeem themselves but thats the way it is i guess and they won't be going back to him now.
