Awesome match tonight. It was a shame that the score line didn't reflect it and that Safin had to bow out in the second round that was worthy of a final.
I hope the moron journalist who said that women deserve more money than men in today's age due to the first couple of days writes an apology in tomorrow's paper after this awesome encounter. How many women's matches would be as good as that?
Here's a hint the number is less than one

Bagdatis will beat Hewitt in 4 sets.

Great match.

Baghdatis in straight sets :D

Would have been great to see Hewitt vs Safin, one who argues with umpires and lines people based on dodgy calls vs another that argues with himself, throws and breaks racquets because of his own dodgy hitting :thumbsu:

Was a cracker of a match though, glad Safin took it to 5 sets.

Easy money folks: Bet on Nalbandian vs Juan Carlos Ferrero. Including exhibitions, Nalbandian has lost one match out of his last 20.

Jelena Yankovic is cruising past world number 30 Razzano of France.
6-2, 2-0 with Razzano serving.

Meanwhile Serena Williams faces her toughest opponent thus far in the tournament, world number 26 Azarenka.
Williams leads 2-1 in the first set.

Cmon Jelena!

Razzano shows some fighting spirit to come from 3-1 down early in the second set to take the set 6-4.

Serena leads Azarenka 6-3, 1-1 with Azarenka serving.

EDIT:

Jelena recovered from her second set confidence slump as she takes the third set 6-1.
It's been a pretty tight game since the opening set which Jelena dominated.
The second set was all one way traffic for the opening few games and it looked as though Jelena was going to cruise through to the next round without too many troubles, however unforced errors crept into Jelena's game which allowed Razzano to pick up the second set with an attacking style of play.
The third set started as the second left off, Razzano full of confidence breezed through her service game whilst Jelena faced break points but managed to hold on.
As the third set wore on it was Razzano's turn to make unforced errors which resulted in a comfortable 6-1 third set win to Jelena.
Jelena wins, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 and goes on to face the winner of tonight's match between 18th seed Amelie Mauresmo and Australian Casey Dellacqua.

Also, Serena Williams proved to much for Azarenka defeating her in straight sets. I won't go into details on this match because who really cares? it's only Serena right?
6-3, 6-4

After struggling for much of the first set, Nadal wins the first set which is quite amazing since he has survived about 5-6 set points during this set.
28th seed Frenchman Simon dominated the early part of the set going as far ahead as 5-2 before the fighting spirit of Nadal shone through as he took the set 7-5.

5th Seed Sharapova is playing fellow Russian Vesnina, it was pretty tight for most of the first set however Sharapova managed to break her opponent to go up 4-3 and from that period onwards it's been all one-way traffic with Sharapova taking out the first set 6-3 and now leads the second set 4-0. Serving to go further in front.

Maria Sharapova continues her dominance in this year's Australian Open by defeating her opponent Elena Vesnina in straight sets.
6-3, 6-0.

I'm really starting to believe that she can go all the way this year...

EDIT:
Nadal ends up cruising (and thats what it was in the second and third sets) to a comfortable straight sets win over the 28th Seed Frenchman Simon.
The first set was full of long rally's and forehand winners, most surprisingly they were mainly off Simon's racquet.
Simon played some great Tennis throughout the first set, good enough to have 6 opportunities at Set Point but he was unable to capatilise.
As the set progressed Nadal looked more and more comfortable whilst in stark contrast Simon looked deflated and that slowly crept into his Tennis.
Nadal remarkably winning the first set 7-5 after coming from 2-5 down.

The second set continued on from where the first had left off, with Nadal unstoppable only losing two games in the second set to take the game well away from the Frenchman.
There was nothing Simon could do to stop the onslaught, all he could do was watch on as Nadal raised his arms in celebration at yet another victory.
7-5, 6-2, 6-3

This match looks set to have a corker finish. I have an early start tomorrow. *sigh*

Roddick is getting really peeved off, yelling at the umpires and all which is pretty entertaining...Hope it goes to a fifth set...!

What happened to that Roddick charm? :p

Roddick to ball-kid - "stay in school or you'll end up being an umpire"
Roddick to Kohlschreiber - "I'm coming for you, watch out, i'm going to get you"

Yanks
