Time for an official thread, these championships start on December 4th SA squad has been announced, not a bad side, bowling is stronger than the batting I'd say.

SA squad:

T. Evans (c)
C. Knight (Vc)
T. Davey
R. Bock
J. Smith
P. George
N. Bowen
E. Laubscher
A. Carey
A. Fraser
C. Montgomery
K. Pascoe
T. Wilson
C. Sayers

Couple of standouts there, Evans is a good leader and one of the better players, George is a good fast bowler, tall and with good bounce, Laubscher is a very good leg spinner, has a knack of taking lots of wickets every game he plays, took 6/92 the other day in Grade cricket. Corey Knight is prob the best batter in the side, Adam Carey goes alright with the bat too and was the Under 17 captain last year.

Kirk Pascoe prolly has the most natural talent, think he is the youngest and a great batting prospect. Sayers also bowling well atm at A grade level.

Queensland cricket has sunk to a new low. Tony Greig's nephew has been named in the Qld Under 19 team. On a brighter note Wally Grout's grandson, Wally Wright has also made the team. There are 7 players with first grade experience in the team.

Qld Under 19
Ben Gledhill (c, Sandgate-Redcliffe), Darren Clark (South Brisbane), Ben Cutting (South Brisbane), Ben Dunk (Norths), Andrew Greig (Valley), Dominic Michael (Norths), Daniel Pearce (Sandgate-Redcliffe), Adam Pearson (Redlands), Mitch Russell (Sandgate-Redcliffe), Graeme Skennar (University of Queensland), Craig Smith (Brothers-Diggers, Toowoomba), Worrin Williams (Beenleigh/Logan), Wally Wright (Norths). Coaches: David Bannister, Steven Baker.

I've captained two of those guys before at State Championships. I feel HUGE!

Is Wally Wright still 4'1 on tippytoes?

only 7 players with 1sts grade experience for QLD isn't that much. most states have would have the more than that playing 1sts.

Why do they all have to be premier cricketers.
Selectors never look outside of Melbourne, fancy overlooking the spinner from Shepparton, Jarrod Wakeling.
29 wickets at 13.72 and doesnt make the side.

They do look outside of Melbourne, have a look at some of the regions where the players come from.

Many of them travel heaps to play Premier Cricket.

the younger crosthwaite didn't make it? anyone know why?

i dont' think the younger crosthwaite was even good enough 2 make vic 19s when compared 2 other gun keepers in the squad. does victoria have enough pacemen, it seems they've only picked the 3 quicks.

Tim Evans took 1 of the best catches (from what i heard) in the A Grade on the weekend, made 50 odd 2 weeks ago in the A's and is a handy left armer medium pacer, but he used to bowl left arm orthodox, so he may bowl that. Corey Knight is a star batsman, think he made 90 in the A's on the weekend, Tim Davey is a also a pretty good batsmen, quite small and a very athletic keeper, Rohan Bock is a spinner from West Torrens, dont know much about him thought. James Smith is very good, fairly young i think, im pretty sure he toured India with the Australian U15 squad last year and is sposed to be a star batsman. George has been playing 2nd XI for SA, so obviously hes a decent pace bowler, Nick Bowen is a batsmen from Southern Districts, Eric Laubscher is probably the one to watch in the future, he also toured India with the 15's last year and is playing A's for Southern and is performing well, and he took a few wickets on the weekend. Carey made 90 odd 2 weeks ago for Glenelg in the A's, dont know much about Wilson or Fraser, Curtis Montgomery is a tall, quick opening bowler. Chadd Sayers destroyed TTG in the A's 2 weeks back, got a 5 wicket haul, while Kirk Pascoe..as thunderstruck said, watch him in the future.

Isn't Moises Henriques supposed to be a star all-rounder which could get into any side on his batting or bowling alone?

No offence, but it's not a scratch on District Cricket. At U/19 level, you have to be playing for a District Side to be seriously considered. He might be good enough to play, but if he can't prove it against the blokes he's competing with for a spot, then you can't expect to make the side.

Yep, but more so Tom Cooper. Will play test cricket in 2-3 years.
