Autopsy Autopsy vs Hawks

Would love to know the numbers of Free Kicks she paid.

For a start she didn't pay Browns mark.

She's a shit umpire and not up to standard. She's not alone there though.

Is she umpiring AFL games because she's the best we've got, or as a token female umpire gesture?

It's nearly bringing the game into disrepute.

Good pick up.

He quelled Mitchell after he led Dumont a merry dance early in the game.

Anything to suit your narrative Snake.

Mitchell had 17 touches to half time and ended up with 35 despite swallow spending the most time on him in the 2nd half. He didn't
quell shit.

I threw a shoe at the TV when the non male ump said "play on" after BBB took one of the best grabs of 2017 and that's as upset as I got.

The bigger picture is we've been extremely competetive in a crap season.
Injuries to JZ, Wood, EVW, BJ, Marley, etc coupled with the rapid form slumps of Goldy and LT makes me think with some savvy trading next year and acquiring TT thereafter we are going to be a bloody good side.

Bring on free agency, the draft and preseason 2018!

Our half forward line ultimately
Cost us the game.

we won the battle in the midfield But I think we allowed Sicily, Gunston, Henderson and Hodge too much free room to roam and intercept.

Hrovat, Simpkin, Turner and to a lesser extent Garner and Zuhaar didn't apply enough pressure and didn't do enough offensively (minus a couple of goals) to warrant the Hawks manning up on them. Resulted in Brown being in 2 v 1's way too often.

Our defensive zone when we lose possession in our forward half is way too slow to react. Our mids, half forward and half backs get caught out napping or guarding space while teams waltz through at break neck speed with little or no pressure. This needs to be a huge focus point Over the pre season.

I'm not referring to crab touches around the ground.

Check out centre clearances in the 1st half, particularly 1st quarter.

Mitchell was largely ineffectual after that.

There was a piece of play where he had 4 touches in about 15 seconds but the ball went nowhere and didn't lead to anything. He's obviously a great accumulator and distributor but some of his possies are way overrated.

Mitchell is hardly dangerfield when it comes to overall damage. His possessions really don't hurt that much, which is why the majority of
Teams don't bother tagging him.

I seen the centre
Clearances he Got 2 in the first quarter that were directly Dumonts fault, but he also got two really strong easy clearances in the last quarter opposed to Swallow too.

He had the same amount of clearances in the 2nd half as he did in the first, give or take 1.
So he wasn't just padding the stats on the outside.

I'm not saying Dumont done good on him because he didnt, but to say that Swallow quelled him is just plain bullshit.

100% which is why I don't understand why Dumont started as a tag to begin with. We should have put more effort into the Hawks distributors off half back who destroyed us all day

Its all based on rubbish anyway, cos Froggy wasn't "tagging" Mitchell at any point, the coaches wanted him to play head to head with him and take him on at the stoppages in the sense of winning the ball that he would otherwise, nothing at all like the "Ben Jacobs" (tm) stopper role. The commentators failed to grasp this as well, at one point BT was having a go at Trent because he was too "focused on going for the ball" which was pretty hilarious. Of course Mitchell beat Trent in this regard, as you'd expect him to given this season he's statistically the best accumulator of all time, but the coaches specifically said in that team selection video (which was awesome insight from the club by the way) that they wanted Froggy to go head to head with him, not tag. I was pleased with his game in this regard, and agree with Brad when he stated that Trent is improving constantly and slowly becoming a very well-rounded and complete footballer.

Thought Simpkin looked relatively cooked.
Mountford and Clarke as deep defenders is clearly football school for the pair of them.
Turner miles off it, to be expected.
Durdin must be persisted with. Nielson very good again despite being taken to school by Burgoyne deep. Physical nasty defender. What we need.
Thompson equally good and perplexing.
Zurhaar excites me.
Best season of Garner's young career.
When Mac runs through tackles I get stiff.
Higgins a leader and a jet.
Almost like Brown was never concussed. Robbed of two marks and a further free kick. Coleman gone.
Mullett confuses me. Is he used properly?
Preuss and Goldy are a good ruck tandem. At times they both treated McEvoy like shit and gave our mids good use.
Both utterly incompetent defensively, Preuss miles better offensively. McEvoy had a major influence on the game outside the centre square.
Swallow did his bit. Retain if necessary.
Tarrant was manful. Holding the defense together. He is duct tape.
Dumont was OK on Mitchell early. Did some nice things and some shit ones. I like him as a footballer and I think he needs to be played and played and played.
Clarke was much improved. Tidy up his handballing and he'll be a player.

Spot on, all of it!

Both Atley's and Zurhaar's goals were something that I have not seen from a North team in a long time. Powerful burst's of play.
Zurhaar was in this weird position for his goals, not sure how to describe it. It was like he was at the front of the pack, at the centre of the drop zone where a spilled contest was likely to deliver the ball to him. You watch, other teams will start copying it now :thumbsd:

Next year when hopefully our defensive options aren't decimated we will see a bit more of the tackle bursting McDonald in the middle again. He adds a different dynamic in there.

I watched Adelaide and Essendon last night just to see how two attacking teams defend against turnovers.
Essendon has Hurley and Gleeson and **** else all, which is why they get hurt going the other way.
Adelaide though has better finishes including their halfbacks who are just as damaging as their forward line.
But they can execute basic handballs that's the standout thing. There is trust and confidence in their teammate to do so hence why they are so efficient.

Our issue is our players don't have the same level of belief in one another for fear of turning it over and getting hurt going the other way.
With Brown, Waite and Wood getting some sort of better service, each is capable of kicking 40 plus goals from a full year of footy.

Swallow led our clearances and laid 13 tackles, 8 more than the next highest in our side.
But what does he do with the ball?

No good clearing it to a Hawthorn player so they can rebound against us.

No one questions his endeavour. But in an era where keeping possession has become king, he is sadly not good enough anymore.

This is the same reason people want Jack out of the midfield. Because they waste possession.

It is clear our biggest issue is midfield run. If we start Rd 1 with 3 of Ziebell, Cunnington, Dumont or swallow in the centre square, that would be a sackable offence.

Hopefully Ahern and 1st round pick with Clarke, Mountford and Williams will help fix.
