In my uninformed opinion 90+% of our issue reside above the shoulders.

The last 10% is mid forward connection.

I would love to know the stats for how often we turn the ball over between 30 and 70 meters from goal.

We’d be world champions at it.
This is my conclusion as well. The main problems rest above the shoulders, as we have plenty of evidence the skill is there, it just isn’t on display frequently enough.

When they played like they have to win, they looked good. When they played like they didn’t want to lose, they looked ordinary. With a lot of close and low scoring games this round, that isn’t unique to our cohort of players. Something in that I reckon.

Healey had done his research though…or the work experience kid did…Eagles trained all week on pressure and tackling and he ran with it for 4 quarters

How he never won a Gold Logie is beyond me…
I love winning when he does commentary because he quite clearly hates us and has for his entire career - I'm assuming that's because the only thing he could ever win was a FIGJAM award whilst we were winning premierships. I reckon he hates seeing us win so that is worth any amount of pain.

I can argue it isnt as now they can hide behind a win and instead being crucified in the media/public the performance will be glossed over or not spoken about.
What absolute bullshit.

you’re barracking for us to have lost.

After what we’ve been through?

In the sea of dumb shit you’ve posted this is certainly up there.

I dont believe I wanted us to lose, I didn’t want to win like that. I want to see improvement and I am certainly not seeing anything that suggests this club is going anywhere in the next few years. We are destined to be bottom 4 for eternity.

If the team had this attitude we’d may as well board the joint up.

In half a decade where we’ve missed many by little in games we shouldn’t have dropped to have played like a jar full of cat piss for 90% of the game and walk away with a win?

That on its own is a form of improvement.

We’d all prefer to be ripping teams throats out for 4 quarters.

Take what we can get and winning any game by any means is better than where we’ve been.

As an aside, how shit is Tim Kelly?

They destroyed their draft hand to get him in and he’s a complete cat.

It was so bad. Early in the game when they hadn't kicked a goal they started picking out every single possible free kick for them, meanwhile Darling gets hit in the head 10m from goal and it is just play on. There were multiple times where they ignored obvious frees to us whilst going out of their way to find tiggy touch ones for WC. They can get stuffed.
That grab around the head on Darling was blatant, as was the legging he copped late in the game when he took a centre bounce. The umpires cannot have not seen these incidents as they were in the direct area of play.

In reality I am a fairly reasonable person but my observations have convinced me that the unbalanced decisions are as the result of deliberate plans to deliver outcomes that are desirable to the financial balance sheet of the AFL. Or at least, it appears that way. I feel that it's high time for a steward's enquiry into the sport at AFL level.

Did you see anything that suggested this club is going anywhere in the next few years with these performances?:
15 point loss in Round 1 against a very good Dogs side
Smashing Melbourne in Round 2
9 point loss against Port in Adelaide
Draw against last year's Premiers (talk about being the better team and not getting the result... we crushed them in basically every facet)

We also were on top of Gold Coast for 3 quarters who are a serious side, hung in there for most the game and put in a respectable performance against Adelaide in Adelaide who I think are a lock for top 4 and also probably should have beaten Essendon.

The performances and improvement are there if you want to see it.

The two main disgusting performances this year were against Sydney in Round 4 and Carlton in Round 6. Collingwood are a well drilled side but with their outs we should have also been better - maybe you could include that if you wanted to.

Honestly outside of those 2-3 games, the improvement is there and you'll see it in almost every game.

We played about 1 quarter of footy yesterday and won the game - we stepped up and turned it on when we needed to, and got across the line playing as bad as you could possibly imagine for basically 3 quarters. You can argue they didn't make the most of their opportunities, but the expected scoring still has us ahead.

Honestly I'm bullish. I get why some fans are not buoyed by yesterday's win, but when I look at what we've done so far this season, the improvement is without a doubt there.

Gerard Healey spent the the entire match slagging McKercher, calling out his apparently lesser performance in comparison to the number one draft pick, Reid but never once pointed out the utterly ineffectual game of Kelly.

I hope clarko isn’t feeding the players the same bullshit I’m reading on here.

Cannot understand how anyone can find any enjoyment or positives from that game.
Last 4 or 5 goals of the game? 45 possessions to 10 or so in the last 10 mins? Young players starting to stand up in big moments? A win? …. Na. I can’t see any positives at all.

Sometimes it honestly feels like people want us to lose just so they can be proven right. It's perverse.

I dunno.

Ignoring DuckYeah for a moment because he's an extremist, I think it's perfectly reasonable for any North fan to be happy we won, but realistic enough to admit that we got lucky against the worst team in the AFL who had WAY more scoring shots than us and honestly outplayed us for 75% of the game.

Alright. I got you here.

15 point loss in Round 1 against a very good Dogs side:

No Bont and the other 10 players that make their best 22.

also were on top of Gold Coast for 3 quarters:

We lost by 9 goals. Dgaf. Serious improvement there.

respectable performance against Adelaide in Adelaide:

We lost by 8 goals. Again, no improvement.

Now, % is flattered because teams failed to convert against us. Collingwood kicked 3.8 in the third quarter, should have been close to 100 points. West coast kicked an abundance of points yesterday, should have been another dent to the %. If Sydney, Carlton and Collingwood were at full strength or even 80% strength, that % comes down again.

That % is just flat out flattering of where we are at.

Its undeniable.

And yet when I look at the AFL website I see that it was North Melbourne who got the 4 points.

This is a far better summary than your initial post in this thread which, respectfully, was about one step above a full-blown tantrum
