Did Uni Blacks succeed in moving their game tomorrow from the swamp? Anyone from Oakliegh let us know please.
Good luck to Matty Robbins, anyone who comes straight back from the AFL to the VAFA has my vote, played it tough but fair.

p- eye....Bit more research before you start potting blokes!! Very ordinary!!

Well done Lachie Wheeler on your 200 @ Hampton tomorrow... Super clubman!!!

I wouldn't be all that surprised if the VAFA website crashed around 4:30-5:00pm due to the huge demand for final scores today because of the final round of the h&a season.

Congratulations to the OH coach Dave Lappage on what was a special day for the club with all three sides winning by big margins. A terrific effort in his first year as a Senior Coach to end up second in a very tough competition. A tough assignment looms in 2 weeks against a classy Carey outfit however with a full list to choose from, the OH outfit will have a real crack and may cause some difficulties for them.
Brian, what happened yesterday? Injuries? or not up to it?

There was a lack of urgency about the way St Kevins played yesterday. It was almost surreal to think that it was Hampton Rovers who wanted to play finals (even though they couldn't) and not St Kevins.

St Kevins seemed to stop when they were 5 goals up at quarter-time, thinking they've done enough and possibly the Rovers couldn't win the game, yet somehow let the Rovers back into the contest, which ultimately led to the Rovers winning the game which cost St Kevins a finals berth. St Kevins had to win that game by 60+ points, because a win even of less than 10 goals wouldn't be enough to stay in. There will be St Kevins people wondering where did it all go wrong.

The funny thing is that Brian jumped off STBMT in A section when their season got derailed by injury and went back to SKOBS on the back of his 'mate' Cogs to what looked like a certain flag. Has to be one of the worst performances in recent memory to have a side like SKOBS have and not make the finals in B Section.

Brian - what will be the fall out - surely it will be savage.

Will you be spending your pre-season at Mentone or Toorak?

Stupid comments by Panther and Guru, I watched at least 6 Tigers games this year, and fronted up every Wednesday and Sunday for the juniors games. Coggs hadn't played for 3 weeks until yesterday and did so with broken ribs to try and help the lads out, Dowd didn't play either.

I would suggest if Chard had played more than 4 or 5 games then it would have been a different story, any player over 6 foot 2 will be welcomed at SKOB with open arms next year.
Powelly did very well to have the side where it was but it wasn't him who missed set shots from 15 metres out yesterday no less than 5 times.
I would also suggest that HR should have a look at themselves, they were awesome after quarter time, Semmel and Gleeson in particular, how did they lose 6 in a row?

It was a shattering day though for my man Mahns, a shithouse way to finish a great career, as well as Luke Williams who did a hammy in the first q after kicking a miraculous goal. Also kudos to Nick Perret who also hung up the boots....SKOB owes these guys big time after yesterdays effort, and hopefully they will be better for the experience next year.
Interesting also to note that all sides who will play finals beat SKOB at least once this year, so that is a reality check for the powers that be at St Kevin's, who put out a very young side this year. You also may want to note that we had 10 players who were VFL listed this year, hopefully we get the majority of them back as we build for next year.

As far as the finals go, I'm tipping a Carey vs Blacks GF, OC are awesome and unbeatable. Congrats to all clubs and good luck in the finals. One last thing to finish, when was the last time a team with 120% and 11 wins missed out on a finals spot?

And GURU, I will be spending my pre-season with you at the beach, will T Brain be elected El Presidento?

Has to be one of the worst performances in recent memory to have a side like SKOBS have and not make the finals in B Section.

Skobs season was derailed when Coughlan got injured. Time for Stui to fall on his sword, he failed as a coach of the school side, now he has failed at the Old Boys.

Panther, name yourself!!! LOL. No seriously, Stuey got the best out of this group, clearly they need to add a few pieces and they will, a bright future for the SKOB lads. He took them to the finals last year after two near relegation years and slipped out in the last round this year after State reps Mc Pherson, Williams and Dowd got injured, now that is reality so don't take cheap shots at Powelly on the net, do it in person, which I doubt you would have the balls to do.

Gee, the knives are out. As Brian has stated 120% is pretty stiff going to be missing out on playing finals, but 11 wins is never really a guarantee for any side to be playing after Rd.18.
We make no excuses for our poor 2nd half of the season, but I believe the reason can be attributed to the fact we've been decimated by injury. Guy Martyn, Danny Corp & Matt Lawrence barely played the 2nd half of the year and Robbie Alexander missed again on the weekend. With due respect to our lads cos all 22 can hold their heads after yesterday's efforts, but it was close to the weakest side we've put on the park in a while. The boys showed plenty of spirit and somehow got back into a game a few of our supporters were predicting would be 100+ points early in the 2nd quarter. There was no real turning point other than Skobs (once they got out to decent lead) started to look like a side that were playing a game they didn't want to lose, rather than playing like a side that wanted to win. They smashed us early, but missed a lot of easy chances which gave us a glimmer of hope and we all know the rest. As was mentioned after the game, that's the gutsiest win many of us have seen at the club in a long time.
Given the fact their Mad Monday was just bought back a few weeks, it was good to see the Skobs people back in the rooms after the game. I'm sure they'll bounce back from this one and will make sure they don't let it happen again in 2011.

Our sympathies go out to St.K's.
Our appreciation goes out to HR.

Just imagine if St.K had won yesterday, OI would have missed out on 4th spot by a solitary point. That would have been heart breaking.

Just another point going into the finals.

The teams that made the finals all had their reserves win very comfortably. Of note was OI's big win over ther 2nd place St.B and OH smashing the 5th placed OE with Ford kicking 5, whilst UBl beat 4th placed Oak.

Maybe the other clubs are getting back to full strength for the finals.
Maybe OC don't have monopoly on the Cup as everyone has predicted.

Again thank you very muck Uncle Mick and his crew.

Max and out

The knives are no where near out.... a couple of people of an internet forum who for some reason dont like powelly want his head to roll. Hard luck with injuries got the better of the team. Roll on 2011.

For mine its OI vs OC in the big one. OC to win easily.

What makes the Rovers win all the more remarkable was the fact that according to Uncle Mick, the Rovers put out probably the least-experienced team in a few years and weren't expected to win. All they had to play for was sending Matty Robbins out on a good note and 'pride of playing for the jumper', whereas St Kevins had everything to play for- staying in the finals race, the double chance spot and a likely meeting against Old Carey in a fortnight at Sportscover Arena. Instead, it wasn't the wanting to win, more of the desire to win that was the difference between the two teams. After all, the Rovers were under no pressure-couldn't be relegated and not being in the finals.

Way to sink the boot in Jase! :p

Congratulations to Bedford and Scribe, and commisserations to Ryeboy who would have walked away with the chocolates had there been any, and if he hadn't let a stupid game of chase-the-small-ball get in the way of his tipping.

Instead, Bedford and Scribe will share an overseas trip to ride a futuristic motorbike as the joint prizewinners. Trouble is, there is only one seat on the bike, and as there was no easy way of getting both of them in the vehicle, the prize has been forfeited.
