Geelong’s willingness to ignore Bailey’s troubled behaviour makes them culpable if he ends up hurting himself or others.

yep...crazy the stuff they let him walk away from. What a disrespectful POS he is. I don’t get it. She is just doing her job. Just like he is supposed to be doing his.
You can’t be disrespecting, intimidating or bullying people in their work place like Bailey just did. But yeah sure, no problem here says the AFL.
While he was at the Bulldogs, I can only remember Smith reacting once to an over the fence remark, and that was during a Collingwood game, not long after the bag of coke photograph came out. It also put him off his game.
Smith got a lot of support from our club, including our psychologist who is often mentioned by our players as being the reason their problems or situation turns around, there would have also been other supports in place as well, and we were hearing leaks before he was traded that he was high maintenance and players and staff were getting sick of it. The tantrum over channel 7 filming him at our training camp, as told by Watson, a case in point.
Since going to Geelong, his behaviour has become more erratic and aggressive. To carry on like that, not at a game, but at an open training day, is inexcusable. I don’t know if the Geelong Lasse faire approach to the players suits a player like Smith. It would suit an older player with a partner and family, but leaving him to his own devices as long as he delivers on field, seems negligent as an employer to me.
His behaviour before our game, talking to himself, punching himself in the head, really concerned me, and obviously our players knew what a fragile state he is in because they didn’t target him and ignored his behaviour.
I don’t like Geelong admittedly, but I would hate to see this situation deteriorate further, we have seen too many players having their lives permanently harmed because no one intervened.
Good post. Every club has them and all supporters look past them as they are their dickheads. Some are more than others…and Bailey is elite.
On Scarlett, was he a dickhead? I knew he was direct but I never saw him as a dickhead.

Yes it was quite a contrast wasn’t it?In all seriousness I do wish Smith would start handling the media the way Ginnivan did yesterday.
Chris Scott’s aggressive outburst towards a female AFL staff member was triggered by the presence of visually impaired reporter Matt “Spider” Lee at his post-match MCG press conference.PLAYERCARDSTARTChris Scott

Lee, a former SEN producer who hosts a weekly program for Vision Australia radio, was the accredited media figure at the centre of Scott’s blow up after Geelong’s big qualifying final win over Brisbane on September 5.
Geelong has declined to explain why Scott was upset about Lee’s presence or detail what was said between Scott and the junior AFL staffer.
Lee said he was “shocked” and saddened to discover that his attendance at the conference had sparked Scott’s exchange with the female media official, which prompted her to later break down in tears.
The dual premiership coach apologised to the woman five days later following discussions between league officials and Cats CEO Steve Hocking.
Lee, 45, is legally blind and suffers from an hereditary eye condition that makes his vision gradually deteriorate.
He is well known within football circles and regularly attends post-game press conferences with a support worker.
“I was a little bit shocked – and sad – to hear about it to be honest,” Lee said of his link to the incident.
“I must admit, I am a bit rattled by it.
“It’s just really disappointing that someone would say something like that behind my back.”
But the club made contact with Lee on Monday morning to reassure him that he was “welcome” at all future Cats press conferences.
“Matt is welcome at any Geelong media opportunity and there is no concern with his attendance at Chris Scott’s post-game press conferences,” a club spokesperson said.PLAYERCARDSTARTChris Scott

Lee could come face-to-face with Scott again after Friday night’s blockbuster Geelong-Hawthorn preliminary final at the MCG.
The media figure is formally accredited to attend AFL matches under an arrangement between the league and Vision Australia.
"Chris Scott beats blind man within an inch of his life and triumphantly declares disabled people have no right to be in the workforce. This troubling incident follows star Cat Bailey Smith threatening a defenceless woman's life while high on cocaine."
Too far! We live in a humane society these days.He needs to be punished in meaningful way. Let Kai Lohman become his hairdresser
I reckon just keep shrieking about it anyway.Mark Blicavs clears all this 'Geelong vs Women' mess up.

Thankfully no further female related issues at Geelong that are open to discussion - this puts it all to bed nicely.
No point id say. They'll just wheel out Tom Stewart next probably to confirm that its case closed and please don't contact us about this or any other matters going forwardI reckon just keep shrieking about it anyway.
There are too many minorities (too many) at our press conference (somebody do something)
Unfortunately certain people on big footy seem to not take it seriously, and would rather joke about it in a way that shows they clearly don't care and would rather downplay itI don’t think this disabled gentleman should be the subject of your jokes. But that’s just me.
Then clearly you skipped the lecture that covered media ethics. Best not mention where you completed the requirements for your qualification.I'm not joking. I have a journalism degree. I'd appreciate you not taking the piss out of my work.
PS you should learn what satire is and it may help you understand which parties are being taken the piss out of. Clue: it isn't the blind bloke.
I believe his joke was aimed at the media, and I actually also believe our willingness to be offended on behalf of others who have not themselves been targetted is getting excessive.I don’t think this disabled gentleman should be the subject of your jokes. But that’s just me.
Gosh we don't even know what was said. For all we know he could have upbraided the young female staffer for making an offensive joke about the journalist.Perhaps Scott is arachnophobic? Would explain everything- that's the excuse I'd be running with anyway
RubbishEssendon should not be trading Merrett to a top 8 club..
If he wants to leave he can go to a bottom 8 club.
Bulldogs made that mistake with Bailey Smith and it probably cost them a finals spot.
Yeah, but he sorted out Ballantyne!Scarlett was a renowned arseh*le
They lost by 2 goals to Geelong in round 11 and Smith was one of the best on ground so you are wrong.Rubbish
Footscray losing to Freo at Marvel cost them a finals spot
Bailey Smith playing for West Coast or Geelong it would not have made a difference to where the dogs finished
