Bailey vs Ratten vs Knights vs Harvey

Knights is such a better coach, it is not funny. Ratten can't coach. Harvey I don't know. Bailey I'm not that sure about either.

Bailey by a mile.

Is doing a rebuild from the ground up, and executing it to perfection.
Ratten and Knights are getting cheap wins that will mean nothing in 2 years when the
Demon are top 4 and the Blues and Bombers are still mid table or worse.

You know absolutely nothing about football. You think young essendon and Carlton teams who are doing better than Melbourne at the moment won't improve in a few years your a massive idiot. You are so one eyed biased Melbourne, why don't you get your head out of your ass and see the reality, essendon are better than melboune in every bit of the game.

The smartest thing Knights did was surround himself with good operators and people known to get the best out of young talent. To get Richardson from Collingwood was a huge get for the Bombers.

Half way through last year I was thinking 'What have we done', but it's fair to say he surprised just about everyone except the Essendon President with how he's done and the way he's gone about it.

We've probably got one of the toughest runs home out of the competing teams for the 4th to 8th spots, but if we can make it, Knights's worth as a coach will soar.

If the Bombers make the finals this year they will get some valuable experience into their already talented kids, no telling where they will be in 2-3 years time.

Mate you don't take that guy seriously, let him have his fun.

Harvey is behind the 8-ball, but is catching up. Good tactician though.
Ratten is also behind given the length of time the blues have spent at the bottom + I don't see him as being a great tactician.
Bailey, tbh I really don't know anything about him. Given he has an alright list (players like Green, Bruce, Davey, Mclean, Moloney are still there) I think he's a tad behind but is taking the club in the right direction.
Knights is the only one who has exceeded expectations. Could be a little more responsive during games with his moves but considering the fact Essendon's first game as favourites to win this year (ignoring ess vs. kang where both were $1.82) was against Richmond in Round 9 it goes to show most people out there expected us to be comfortably in the bottom 4.

I havnt like ratts i mean he has no game plan like fev up the field...???...i mean seriously.
i think a great lift for the team would be to drop fev the next time he has a crap game and dissapointing body language it would make him realise that he isnt just a walkup selection and he will try harder in the next game. and it would be a super plus to the boys if they won without himplaying

...can you drop a coach....?

Your point underlines why it is unfair to compare Knights and Bailey.
Knights has the runs on the board at the moment but he inherited a much better list than Melbourne, also Essendon are probably 2 years ahead in development.

While Knights didn't have a magnificant Essendon list to begin with he still had the foundations to build a quality side around (Llyod, McVeigh, Fletcher, Hille) with players like Ryder, Stanton, Lovett who all showed potential but had a couple of years development in them already.

In contrast Bailey inhereted a shambolic list. The players who you could build a side around (Neitz, Yze, White) were all finished and taking up space when he got there. So he had to start from scratch whereas Knights didn't have to.

Having said that I would still give the votes to Knights but a fair judgement can not be mad until they have both been in their jobs for about 5 years (if they are both still in their jobs then).

Take Wallace and Clarkson for example. Both started at the same time and Wallace had a much better record over the first two seasons. Now 5 years on who would you prefer as coach??? Only a very silly man would say Wallace

At the end of 2007 (and even now) I thought Essendon had the worst list in the competition with ageing stars, a slow midfield and that once Lloyd, Lucas and Fletcher Essendon would remain at the bottom.

Haha yeah, we relied on our 'aging stars' yet at the same time somehow 'LLyod', Lucas and Fletcher were duds anyway... funny how Bigfooty works :o

Knights. He's made more progress in 2 years than Sheedy did in his last 4 or 5

Ratten because he is only coach out of them 4 that has got his team into the last two final series. Thats got to count for something. Knights has taken a average list of players and turned them into duds. Bailey well his side is still bottom 8 and Harvey well luck is fortune but his luck is about to run out.

Most of the footy public and even some Carlton supporters would say that Ratten has taken some elite talent and is turning them into average players. I hardly think you can attribute Freo's success to luck, and Melbourne will be a better side than Carlton as soon as next year.

Melbourne may be better then Carlton in about 4 to 6 years. I don't expect anything from melbourne next year.

I believe Melbourne and Freo will be two of the best teams in the next couple of seasons, based on their improvement in the last season or two.

Knights was sacked today.

Carlton fans will disagree but I can't see Ratten doing more with his team than making up the numbers come finals.

Considering all aspects, and not just performance to date, but also taking their team forward:

Harvey>Bailey>>>>>>>Ratten>>>>>>>Knights

Ask me another day and I'd probably reverse Harvs and Bails.
