yes i also thought this was going to be one of those cases where people say well its only jeff farmer and he proberbly deserved itjustice preveals round 20 and the mrp finnally are getting it right god even the johnson bump at the start of the year has been evened up

u guys r a joke!!!!! how can u call baker a sniper? he may be, i dont particularly like him, but farmer isnt exactly an angel himself! i hate st.kilda, bu the decision handed down 2nite was a joke. no evidence apart from a school teacher. no video. even without footage, it shouldnt have even come to this. once baker had his defence, farmer should do what 99% of football players in this country would do and thats agree with bakes (even if it was a furfy) and get on with life.

what is it with u blokes trying to somehow change the way the game is played? that toolhead headland has a bad temper, so he gets away with smashing selwoods lights out because someone rubbed him up the wrong way. does that make it ok for me 2 smash someones lights out because they rubed me up the wrong way? no. that was a joke.

now this, just as bad. farmer reckons he should be different to 99% of the other players in the country and go dob on a player. everyone else agrees to let it go, whats the issue with u blokes?

This might make a vague ounce of sense if you had bothered to take any notice of Freo and the tribunal in 2007.

Let me start with the ridiculous 4 weeks handed out to Michael Johnson in the pre-season, along with Pratt 'dobbing' in Farmer resulting in a 6 week suspension. Then we have White 'dobbing' in Dodd in round one for a 1 week suspension. Round 3, Daniel Chick makes up some story about Josh Carr hitting him - no video evidence, no witnesses, he hadn't even told the weagles medical staff - Josh gets offered 2 weeks with an early guilty plea!

We lost Sandilands to a cheap shot behind the play last year - we kept quiet on that one. But if other teams are going to change the rules (and we've had 3 occasions where this has happened this year alone) why should we stick to the old line of what happens on the field stays on the field, particularly when one of our players is seriously injured - if you've got a problem, I suggest you take it up with the Kangaroos, Port and the weagles.

So is he a sniper or not? Make up your mind.

And what you think of Farmer's character is irrelevant when it comes to deciding Baker's punishment.

This season we've had Pratt, White, Chick and your own Steve Johnson all give evidence against our players. So don't come on here and preach to us about the code of silence.

People are charged with assault all the time, with or without video evidence.

If this has happened off a football field, the penalty would have been far more severe.

No man, not even one with the reputation of Farmer, deserves to have these type of injuries. This wasn't just a scratch!

Seriously mate.. grow up.
We didnt make the decision, The tribunal did. I've seen what you typed about our club on the saint kilda board. Take your negativity and hatred and go sit in your kitty litter tray down in geelong.
To address some of your points....
  • wake up and smell the coffee.. Baker is a sniper. He has had priors. He has whacked people before.
  • Your angry at our club for the AFL tribunals decision. Dosent make sense - We dont administer the penalties
  • Seperate issue but if the AFL didnt want to punish the seedy Selwood or Headland - that is not our clubs fault. We defended our player as any club would, so did West Coast - the tribunal made the decision.
  • Farmer hasnt said anything or offer much evidence because he cant recall what happened
Of course if this happend to one of your players, would this be your reaction? Methinks not, you twat.
Farmer got a broken nose and was knocked out ffs. Head high dangerous contact. Thats hardly an "accidental" bump. There was certainly intent in the contact.
Don't pontificate to us about keeping quiet at the tribunal. We've had players like Pratt & Chick to name a few having no trouble dobbing in our players at the tribunal - even if the story is a crock of s--t [chick].
We've had our share of bulls--t decisions from the tribunal this year so don't lecture to us.

7 weeks is a very big sentence, but thats not the FFC fault. Baker had alot of carry over points so thats his problem, and really his fault. Heck - they used his own evidence against himself.

Again, grow up you idiot. If your gonna post something at least state your point with some maturity. I hope you get an infraction you bellend.
Your on our board saying you hate the saints, yet your a sicophant to them over on theres.
I'm :o for you.

Take some grammar and spelling lessons.

Time to go back to law school FreoGirl - or maybe school generally.

Open the Crimes Act and see what "assault" actually is.

What you mean is "battery" which incidentally, would occur thousands of times every football match. The reason why no one is ever charged is because there is common law (judicial opinion) which effectively makes sport an exception.

(The exception to the exception was the infamous Leigh Matthews/Neville Bruns incident at Princess Park, but that was quite different to the Baker/Farmer incident).

And to say that people are charged with assault all the time is correct - however, the prosecution needs to prove the crime beyond a reasonable doubt - that has clearly not happened here.

Farmer doesn't king hit blokes off the play, Baker is not a ball player, got what he deserves.

Looks like Kerr's out for 6 weeks with a tendon injury. Key players from rival sides are dropping like flies heading into the finals and we're sitting 12th. :(

How about you have a look and see what Jeff Farmer told the tribunal before opening your mouth. He said he had no recollection of the incident and had no idea who or what hit him.

Now I dislike Farmer as much as any WCE supporter, but he has never hit KO'd someone behind play. He's done some stupid stuff, but no one in any circumstances deserves to have their nose broken 50m off the ball.

Four weeks is fine with me (plus carry-over/bad record).
