Yep have no idea what these crackheads are running but its the only system we have :(
As far as I can tell the system isn't very integrated, the weighting system is rubbish and it has a fair bit of 'all else being equal' so a 50/50 that was under severe pressure and was turned over is punished as harshly as a turnover in space - unless they classify it as a clanger. Then you have to remember on top of that - it isn't objective because you've got a human recording the stats. So anything like clangers or pressure acts all come down to the fellas watching the game. I mean at least I'm pretty sure thats the way it works. So a flawed ratings system has very high weightings on rather subjective statistical categories. Sounds like a good recipe. Champion data are a bunch of dim wits. Only thing they did right was get the AFL's contract.

DEFINITES: Cripps, Docherty, Weitering, Byrne, Plowman, Silvagni, Curnow, Cuningham, Fisher, Petrevski-Seton, Williamson, Macreadie & Marchbank

SHOULD: Pickett, Polson & maybe Sumner.

Anyone beyond that would be a bonus.

**** How come Silvagni isn't in the poll?

I have no doubt, but that must be one hell of a reduction. Twice as many effective disposals as Goldy, 15 times more kicks (I believe kicks are rated better than handballs), twice as mane goals, 10 tackles to none, 7 i50s to none, 3 times as many pressure acts, 13 times more mtrs gained, more than four times as many uncont possies, more contested. They are BIG advantages. The only significant advantage Goldy had was hitouts, of which hitouts to advantage is probably the bigger scorer and he had 3 turnovers of his own. Those extra 6 turnovers for Bryce must have knocked at least 12+ points off.
If a turnover is worth roughly -2 points each, then they are saying that Goldy had a game worthy of 29.6 points if you take the turnovers away. No way was his game that good.

Cripps had a game earlier in the season that was ranked at about 32 points (and that's with 6 turnovers) and Gibbs' was better than that in most categories. The system is massively flawed and seems to get worse on a weekly basis.

Can you find out how many goals were scored from Gibbs' turnovers?

Concerned about Weitering's development at the moment. It seems that he has little influence on the game. Whether it's fate or planning Plowman seems to have to work harder and be under constant pressure while Big W floats around. When he does use it he does it well but not getting enough of it. He should be our Rance! Needs to get a bit of mongrel.

Jones is now our most important (and best) big defender. His efforts in getting to contest after contest are impressive and his attack on the footy not just the in the Rowe mode of hanging back and spoiling. Thumbs up!

So our defence is great, mids are ok and our forward line is poor. Bolton has a lot of work to do to address our defiencies in the time remaining . I think we still are two good mids (three if Gibbs leaves) and two goal kicking forwards short of where we need to be.

GAME 35 Rnd 14 - LOSS vs Richmond (83-73)

Coaches Votes: Patrick Cripps (3)
Player Ratings Points (AFL,SEN):

Patrick Cripps - 493.9, 8
Sam Docherty - 433, 7
Lachlan Plowman - 289.2, 6
Jacob Weitering - 273.5, 5
Charlie Curnow - 120.4, 6
Caleb Marchbank - 105.1, 5

Jack Silvagni - 127.9, 4
Blaine Boekhurst - 123, 3
Nick Graham - 108.7, 5
Jed Lamb - 101.5, 0
Samo Petrevski-Seton - 85.7, 2
Jarrod Pickett - 17.7, 3

Average: 177.3, 4.38

We lost to the Tigers, let's just forget about it. The questions are, how did the kids go? Well, it depends where you look. A 4.38 on the SEN Rating system is a huge dip from the norm, but that wasn't helped by Jed Lamb's 0. That being said, even if we were being generous and gave Jed a 5, we'd till be a quarter of a point below 5, which is a big step back for our kids. We could have definitely seen a better performance and maybe the big stage got to some or maybe the personal we had weren't up to it. Many of our first choice rookies were out of action this week and we really were down to a skeleton squad. At least our AFL Player rating stayed relatively high, we're still going upwards and onwards. Although that number might eb inflated by the presence of Lamb, Boekhurst and Graham who, whilst having quite high AFL Player ratings, the argument still exists whether they're any better right now than a Tom Williamson or Zac Fisher would be. Next week fit hose boys come back we may see a dip in our rating, especially if the likes of Graham get punished int he ratings like they did this week. (Graham went from 130 to 108.7 in the space of a game).

Sam Docherty racked up a hell of a lot of stats. He could have made more impact but is doing so many good things and is having more of an influence around stoppages and through the middle as seen in his 9 contested possessions and 5 clearances this week. He had 28 disposals, 11 marks 2 of which were contested and had 6 rebound 50's, 4 tackles, 3 1%ers 2 inside 50's and an out of bounds on the full. Patrick Cripps was massive and picked up 3 coaches votes. He had a game high 10 clearances, took 5 marks including a mark of the week candidate on top of Jack Reiwdolts shoulders. Cripps had 27 touches, 8 tackles, 3 inside 50's and a goal. Charlie Curnow almost had a breakout game and he is getting very close every week. He had 16 touches, 9 marks, including 3 contested had 5 inside 50's and a goal. A big game is approaching. Lachie Plowman was good in defence, he had 11 touches, 1 mark and 2 tackles but kept his opponent quiet. Nick Graham got his hands on the ball, finding it 20 times, had 2 clearances, and 4 tackles in a night when we needed them but couldnt make much of an impact with his possessions. I want to see more from Jacob Weitering but he plays his role and does everything well. he head 17 touches, 6 marks, no clangers, 4 rebound 50's and 2 1%ers. Blaine Boekhurst is playing an odd role at AFL level and isn't doing it very well. He had 10 touches, 2 marks, 3 clangers, 2 rebound 50's and needs to do more. Jack Silvagni had 9 touches, 2 inside 50's and a behind without much else to write home about. Caleb Marchbank had 11 touches, 5 marks, 5 rebound 50's and 3 tackles. Samo Petrevski-Seton had no impact, he only managed 4 touches, 3 marks, and 3 tackles. Billie Smedts was lucky to get a game and didn't impress, he had 8 touches, 2 marks, 2 clangers, 2 tackles and 2 1%ers. Jarrod Picket had 6 touches, 2 marks, 2 1%ers, 2 lovely bounces and not much else. needs to impact the game. Jed Lamb got knocked out without recording a stat.

Here comes Charlie.....

After 58 and 84 games respectively, Cripps and Docherty are elite players and reach career-high rankings this week.

Weitering enters the top 20 key defenders, joining Plowman who is 18th. Both continue their steady climb and look set to reach the top 200 by the end of the season.

Samuel Kerridge, the forgotten member of the youth contingent, rose 19 spots on the back of a strong game in the absence of Edward Curnow and should find himself in the team against Melbourne.

The man of the moment, Charlie Curnow, after an elite-level CHF game, also jumps 19 spots in the overall rankings, and in the process enters our club top 20 (18th from 21st), with his eyes set firmly on Armfield's 17th rank. He looks set to be an elite player in this competition.

Silvagni, Marchbank, Fisher and Cuningham all played decent games and continue to climb steadily.

A bloke called Crippa played a decent game and may find himself with a career-high ranking. ;)
Not much room left at the top of the ladder.

Guys we are playing finals next year, there's no doubt in my mind. We are so close at the moment to being a really good side, hard to believe we currently sit 16th. We're already an extremely hard team to beat, we have the right formula in place, it's all about getting games into these boys as a team.

Next year mark my words.

I'm not. Reckon the injury he suffered in round one has effected him more than people realise. Going forward wasn't easy either.
Still only 19 and that is extremely young for a KPP. Thought he was good on the weekend and not far away from his best. Expectations are high but still very young. Will be a genuine star of an elite defence
