You all know how amazing 2021 was for the Eagles so I'm sure you are as excited to relive it all as I was to count all the votes (thankfully due to our garbage fire of a season we had record low voters which meant I didn't have to dwell too long on 90 point drubbings).

As usual I will be taking you through each and every player of the season and counting down to our best Fijian ruckman player of the year.

I still have a few rounds to tally up so while I do that get any predictions in for the season and get any votes in that you may have forgotten about. Or don't, whatever. Winning predictions win absolutely nothing except my satisfaction that someone else had to think about our season in retrospect.

Last season Nic Naitanui and Liam Ryan were well in front of the pack with Ryan finishing in second from TK with 31 votes and NN ahead with 38. How much will NN win by this season? Who tf will finish second? Did anyone improve this season? These are questions I unfortunately have to answer soon so stay tuned.

Here are the 2020 results:

Redden - without much confidence.
Kelly
Kennedy
Allen due to first half of the year.

Pretty sad performance list to be honest.

1. Nic Nat (will finish with about double second).

Could really throw a towel over the next handful, but going with

2. JK
3. Kelly
4. Jack Darling (started the season well)
5. Allen
6. Hurn
7. Redden
8. Cripps (Had a few high vote games which helps in this format)
9. Sheed
10. Barrass

Out of 44 players on our list in 2021, 37 played AFL footy and 35 received votes.

Here are the players who failed to play a game in 2021:

#18 Daniel Venables
Once again missed the entire season due to the nasty concussion he sustained in 2019. Retired towards the end of the season after receiving a recommendation to never play contact sport again. A sad end for the premiership player.

#26 Zane Trew
Trew oozed hype from this board in the preseason but never made it out of the WAFL. Had some solid numbers at times throughout the season but also sustained a few injuries. Hopefully has a good preseason and can provide some midfield depth in 2022.

#38 Ben Johnson
Never really got close to a senior game this year despite some encouraging numbers in the WAFL. Remains uncontracted for 2022 but hopefully he gets another year as we could use his kicking skills coming out of the backline.

#39 Jarrod Cameron
Another disappointing year for Cameron that was wrecked by injury. Made it back from OP but sustained a bad ankle injury in the WAFL that ruled him out for the rest of the year. Still contracted for next year so hopefully he can get his body right and build upon what he achieved in his first year.

#40 Callum Jamieson
Another development year for the raw ruckman who spent significant periods in defence with Vardy and Williams often playing in the ruck. Contracted for next year so ideally he can spend a bit of time in the gym so he can contend with the WAFL rucks next season.

#43 Will Collins
Taken in the midseason draft, Collins seems to be a project player as hasn't shown too many AFL traits and the club may well want to spend a bit of time with him before either considering him for AFL selection or delisting him.

#44 Willie Rioli
Almost made it back for the final game of the year but sadly experienced some hamstring tightness which ruled him out of making his return to AFL footy.

#22 Isiah Winder

Our pick 57 in last years draft debuted as the medical sub in Round 4 vs St Kilda with 5 disposals and a goal. He suffered a knee injury after his debut match which kept him out of action for a big chunk of the year before returning and impressing in the WAFL.

#34 Mark Hutchings

At the complete opposite end of his career to young Winder, we had another anonymous and injury riddled season from this premiership midfielder. In what was probably his last season, Hutch spent most of it on the sidelines through injury before returning in Round 19 vs St Kilda and playing in Round 21 vs Melbourne and 23 vs Brisbane. On the rookie list for this year, the wrong side of 30 and injury prone, we have probably seen the last of Hutch.

35th place - #36 Connor West

Westy was picked up in the midseason draft as our midfield resembled a revolving door of injuries and made his debut fairly quickly in Round 18 vs Adelaide. Picking up 19 touches on debut, West showed that he is hard at it and ready to compete in AFL footy. He didn't get a whole heap of midfield time but with an AFL preseason he should be able to provide a hard nosed element to our midfield in 2022.

A much improved 2021 for Foley who despite only playing 6 games, looked composed and at home whenever he played. His best game of the season (and career to date) came against Richmond in Round 13 where he collected 22 disposals, 7 marks and 3 tackles coming off half back. Foley finished off the season in the senior team as a glimpse into the future.

33rd place - #24 Xavier O'Neill

Total votes - 0.19

Ranking - 33rd

Games played - 7

O'Neill plateaued a bit after his impressive season last year and struggled a bit with production when brought into the seniors but starred in the WAFL. Whilst a lot of it could be put down to him being played out of position in the seniors as he gets put in the forward line a bit, he would still want significant improvement if he is to be a long term player. He was selected for the Round 1 team vs Gold Coast in what was probably his best game for the season where he recorded a career high 18 disposals.

Fourth least worst player on the field as we went down by 100 in Geelong.

I stand by it, goddamit.

Just the solitary game for Ainsworth this season where he came on as the medical substitute in the Geelong demolition and had 4 disposals. Didn't really look like being selected at any other point on the season and appears likely to be delisted.

Should be a minimum game limit. I cant believe any of the guys already posted recieved a legitimate vote
What if Rioli came in Round 23 and kicked 5 to get unanimous best on ground but because he only played 1 game it doesn’t count?

It’s on the voters to not give me junk votes.
