He's becoming more unhinged, and starting to look more like everyone's racist grandpa.

I'd suggest he's feeling a bit of heat from younger tabloid hacks like Panahi, Devine etc and is having to justify his relevance by saying dumber shit.

Who knows, maybe he'll go totally whacko and qualify for a job at the ABC.

He was already on the ABC. He used to go on there to whinge about his lack of freedom of speech.

He also whinges about that in his column in Australia's biggest newspaper, and his nightly national TV program.

Serious question...
Why do you imply only whackos work for the ABC?
I really believe that the ABC is fairly balanced, sure there are some programs that may appear a bit left-Insiders but there are certainly some on air commentators that report 'right' but in the main I think it is very balanced and have the best investigative and informative programs.
When programs have guests they always have them from both sides.

Really? Which programs do you think skew right?

To be fair, no it's not only whackos, but the range of views does go from center-left to whacko-left.

I said commentators, Cassidy and Jones - left.
Uhlmann, Kelly, Trioli- right
Sales, Alberice - neutral
No whackos there.
Maybe you don't like how they present however I think they are all good.
Even though I couldn't stand Sales gushing interview with Wyatt Roy.

It's the most centrist broadcaster in Australia, has Standards it is required to adhere to that are stricter than the Broadcasting Codes, and is pulled up by the ACMA if it does breach it's stricter Standards.

It probably appears left if you compare it to the Murdoch presses - but so would most media given their enormous bias.

..and his regular radio spot - never has their been so much restriction on his speaking

Don't you understand that Bolt being free to speak about some topics is not the same as him being free to speak about every topic? Don't you get that? It's pretty simple. Bolt cannot talk about some things because of the case against him regarding the racial discrimination act, and that is disgraceful. The fact that Australia has such a law is both wrong and embarrassing. What makes it even worse is that a left-leaning Coalition government shows no signs of repealing a law that has no place in a free-thinking western democracy.

Since when is Triloi on the right? Are you trolling? Chris Uhlmann is married to a Labor politician.

He can speak on any topic he wishes, what he can't do is lie in order to heap shit on people he doesn't understand. It's not a big ask.

Well, actually....That's his column in a nutshell.

Censorship!....LOL.

I am aware of both and I stand by my post.
No I am not trolling, perhaps you are when you refer to a 'left learning Coalition'?

If you can't see that the current government has a strong lean to the left, then you have your head in the sand.

Perhaps you can name these influential strong left leaning politicians?

There only needs to be one and he is the leader of the party, and the therefore the most influential.

There has been no real inclination to cut government spending, repeal 18C etc. Turnbull is the most left-leaning Liberal leader since John Hewson, and thank God he never became Prime Minister.

It is for him.

If you want to use spending in government as an indicator of political leanings, John Howard was the most lefty PM in history, that guy spent like a drunken sailor, and y'all loved him for it.
Let's not forget he revived sedition laws too. Poor old cheerleader Dan.

So you are referring to Malcolm and you not only call him left learning but influential?
Hmmm, think you are trolling as you would be the only one thinking that.
Further think you are in the wrong thread, this thread is about Bolt.

There was also that lefty Abbott government that outspent all but one of the ALP's seven years in government.

Most governments outspend the previous government that preceded them, whether they be Labor or Liberal. Although there is a lot of figure-fudging to get the desired numbers to suit your point of view. For example, you could use "spending as a percentage of GDP", or you could just use spending in real terms. Do you adjust for inflation or not? If GDP contracts or is stable, then that can give a misleading figure, if you are using that figure to showcase government spending. The previous government was also trying to pass saving measures that were getting blocked in the Senate by Labor.

At any rate, I don't care which party does it, it's still wrong. I'm not a "party" person, I'm a "principle" person.

That's why I voted for the only party that is serious about reducing the debt, and making government smaller and leaner - the Liberal Democrats.
