Booing of Adam Goodes tonight

It's pretty obvious why. Most folks still think the AOTY award was a token gift to make up for what happened that day against Collingwood despite his off field work. The off field work reason is seen as a "cover up" because he's been doing that for a while, and that it was an odd coincidence he got it that year when that incident happened.

Australian public putting two on two together despite the fact the assumption is from a poor basis of thinking? Hird that before.

Unbelievable any opp to give Hird a reach-around and you take it. Chalk and cheese their behaviour.
As has been explained most people don't love Goodes cause he's a great player slash dirty sniper - not a great mix.

Goodes is a great Champion and tonight was amazing again , should have been paid a mark in the square late in the last quarter. Umpires again showed reluctance to react late in a close game in the goal square.
Could have been the difference.

"Give the title back!"

Because I can tell you that this is at least a part of the reason he was booed.

Why wasn't Laidler booed then? He dropped Gunston off the play in the third, it would have been on the screen, Gunston and Roughead both remonstrated with him and the umpire, yet the crowd did nothing when Laidler had the ball after that.

What did he ever actually do wrong? No idea why he has been painted as some sort of villain.

Apparently, he should have refused the Australian of the Year award, I guess. Laughable. How many of them would have a clue who the last five AOTYs were?

Well Adam Goodes receiving the award is a joke. And I can't speak for others. But personally I'd respect an AOTY who hasn't had the title bestowed upon them because politicians are using him as a future marketing tool.

Same thing happened when we played Essendon earlier in the year.

I nearly got in a few punch ons with Essendon supporters that night. There was an incident where he got a goal from a bull crap free kick (umps had a hand in over 10 goals) but when some of the supporters started having a crack at him about picking on a young girl it was obvious that they were having a racist crack. Even the club that backed Michael Long and every year is part of the centre piece game for indigenous round has racist supporters and that is pretty depressing.

A staggering amount of AFL players are tossers and don't get booed. I'm not a booing kind of person, but really, I would have thought the only reasons for booing an opposition player is if he was involved in a dodgy incident during the game, he had been suspended for a very dirty incident in the past against your team (e.g. I would understand Carlton supporters booing Milburn for the rest of his career), or - in some instances - if he left your club for another.

I'd rather we live in a world of self entitlement than this ultra PC you can only do things that are nice world that people think we should live in.

You're at a sporting event. A tribal passionate sporting event. You don't have the right to be racist, swear or otherwise break the law.

But it's booing. And if you decide an opposition player annoys you whether they have belted your club champion or being a sanctimonious flog off the field and at times sniper on the field then so be it.

If Goodes doesn't want to be booed he get out of the entertainment industry and go in to another line of work.
