Free Agency Brad Crouch [joins St Kilda as a RFA for pick 23]

He made it clear he wanted a 5 year deal, even if on less money per annum. COVID, drug mishaps & now he will end up on less money than his current contract.

Should be looking for a new manager.

You are overvaluing him. He’s a solid B grade mid. 600 x 4 with a trigger is close to spot on. His manager has done his job & got him an extra year.

Crows fans still wanting to talk about money when the evidence says brad wants out of the club.

That's irrelevant though. If anything it works in our favour as if we match, he won't stay anyway. $600k isn't the issue, we only offered 3 years. But at that price maybe 4 isn't a stretch if he changes his mind. Matching is a no brainer, but I have my concerns that the tough talk about 20 odd not being enough won't be followed through with.

How much per annum has the cocaine trouble cost him? Pick 2 was realistic, now miles off.

Still unreal brisbane paid joe enough for pick 7. Hes had 2 good games in 4 years ffs

If the media reporting is correct Crouch shopped himself 12 months ago & there was no club willing to pay him the big bucks. His value may have gradually dipped throughout the year but I doubt very much. He’s won a B&F & never made AA. I’m not sure why Crows supporters think he should be on 800k + Surely this exercise has displayed his true value.

didn't papley want to go to Carlton last year?..it would have been easy to let him walk for a nominal pick rather than try and force carlton to trade high end picks for him..sound familiar

We were lucky that we had Papley still contracted for a few years. I think we were pretty desperate to keep him because he was important to our team.

I was happy that we kept Papley because it would have been disruptive to lose him at that point. But if he still really wanted to leave the club after a year. I think we may have traded him.

I think with Crouch it depends how he genuinely feels about staying or going. If he has his heart set on going, I can't see them making him sign a 5 year contract.

A lot of people just don’t seem to understand how RFA compensation works...

One thing I find interesting about the process now and similar to the Cameron situation, is how this contract works and how the trade works.

So now because the crows will very likely match this does this mean he's treated like he's contracted in terms of working out the trade? Normally contracted players demand a premium at the draft table. Where as this situation isn't going to next 2 firsts for example. Must likely something better than a end of first round pick.

Just interesting to watch to play out now.

One thing is clear, free agency works well for the player. Crouch will most likely get his 5 years in the end.

lol Papley was contracted...
lol - so will brad crouch be should Adelaide match the bid..next?

Do you know the exact details of both contracts? Or is this just another uneducated tip rat comment? Genuinely curious.
Tip rat comment ...... yet it’s a genuine question
I think not
run along .

In the end we helped Brad Crouch get the contract he wanted from his club and he didn't have to venture into big bad Melbourne, nice result for him.

Saints will move onto our next target and try to work out a trade with Adam Treloar or simply allow our young midfielders a real crack at it. Not many Saints supporters are devastated that we couldn't snare the biggish fish this time round, better to be professional.

Adelaide get to keep their best midfielder, they still keep the first picks of all the rounds of the draft and all the extras, they get to feel like they stood up to bullying from St Kilda.

Everyone wins. Could have done better but I don't mind.

Um...that's not how it works....
If Adelaide match the bid, then what happens, Brad either requires A TRADE to get to St Kilda or he could nominate the PSD. Crows have pick 1 in the PSD and St Kilda have early doors indicated they won't trade for Crouch..you tell me what happens from here if Adelaide match

You clearly don't even understand basic concepts to how FA works. It's either that or your head is too far in the sand that you're not willing to admit that you were way off the mark with the crouch situation.
