Yeah, the guy is going to destroy his reputation to run the club into the ground under AFL orders, chuks.

He'd be put in to ensure ultimate success.

Would this put Buckley into the Geelong hotseat?

Buckley was never going to take the job and he won't go to Geelong, the man was CEO of an National/International organisation he will go somewhere with commensurate challenges and rewards, unless he is looking for semi-retirement o_O

If you want a contracted employee i think we do. As for know your place its an internet forum pal, get over yourself.

I hope for the sake of your clients that you don't charge fees for your legal advice.

The one who said we should of gone to the GC or disappeared is their president, Colin Carter, who has always said we are one of the clubs that should of disappeared, if he ever was made Boss of the AFL, we would be in a lot of trouble.

Good point and you never know what's just around the corner on that front. Have you seen the size of Demetriou lately? He's after a Weightwatchers sponsorship or a heart attack. I'm not sure which.

No doubt Denham is talking through his arse as he normally does, but the circumstances of Eugene's departure would surely raise some questions for any potential CEO candidates.

He will be a gigantic get. The bloke is A+++. Don't worry with all the paranoid shit, broadcast rights are in place and Vlad has bigger worries in Vic than us for the next Decade.

Cook in charge and Euge on the Board, great times heading into our Premiership window.

In reality we will probably get pick 36 for Hamish, get a very soft Gysberts and possibly the valuable pick 148 for an 80 game player who averages more than a goal a game.

I reckon every club which has changed CEO in the last 20 years has sounded out Cook so to land him would be a great coup for the club. Might cost us Vale.

we need to make it happen fast. Adelaide will be after a new CEO soon.

Contracts for CEOs are more for the security of the employee than the employer, I assume most have out-clauses.

Cook knows the value of a good stadium deal and he has the clout to get the political support, I think he would be a good get and is the kind of guy we need to get Ballarat done.

Cook hasn't said anything that others haven't said about us, even from people within the club. I think North would provide a good challenge for him because we have a lot of potential to grow like Hawthorn did with good development.

Thats what a contract actually is and is designed for. Just as Hamish McIntosh was contracted to North we had to give you compensation (a draft pick) if he was uncontracted you get nothing. Brian Cook is contracted so if you want him to get out of that contract you need to compensate for it ie pay it out. Its what a contract is all about. Unless there is some sort of clause where he can give notice,.

Never said anything of the sort. And to look at it like that shows incredible shortsightedness on your behalf.

It's a legitimate question that needs to be asked. Why is the AFL interfering in our search for a CEO?

Have never seen them do that at other bigger clubs like Collingwood. What's it there business to interfere in ours? And with their previous sinister history of meddling in our matters, why are you so happy to see them start doing it now?

This is the same administration that was happy to see us playing 7 games in Tasmania 2 years ago. Now looking to be lead by a CEO who has stated that 10 clubs in Melbourne is too much.

In actuality, if Cook could manufacture a North Melbourne relocation to Tasmania, after the failed 2007 attempt it would probably increase his reputation 10 fold in the football communities eyes. Not destroy it.

Bang. Exactly how I read it. This is hardly good news.

How could we afford his salary unless the AFL were making up the difference...so then who is he working for?
