TBH the more I think about it the more I unfortunately just can't see this happening. I mean I remember not too long ago Demetriou or whoever it was, jokingly suggesting it at a board meeting (or whatever it was) and Cook easily dismissed it. Now he's out of the country and rumors are speculating that its a strong possibility of happening even though Cook initially made his thoughts pretty clear the previous time which is all we got to go by. Anyway, I just get the feeling that he is comfortable at Geelong but I hope I'm wrong.

They were at Icebergs, one of the nicest restaurants in Sydney (at Bondi right on the water), yukking it up at our expense on their AFL expense accounts and it was said as a big joke and taken as a big joke.

It'd be like you're having coffee with Bart Cummings and he's looking for a rider for one of his Cup horses and he turns to you and says: ''how'd you like to ride it for me?''

If it was April, I'd say ''April fool.'' I can't see it happening either.

If it happens it would a very positive move by the club.

Unfortunately, I see no reason why he would re-sign at Geel only to walk away after one year. Stranger things have happened though.

Reckon we are a very good shout here.

Geelong are already on record as saying "if he wants to go, we wouldn't stop him" and "if he goes, we'd simply undertake a process to replace him" which suggests to me that they are either resigned to him leaving, or at least not confident he'll stay. If they were, they'd be saying "we don't know, but Brian is a valued member of our team, and we're pretty confident he'll will want to stay to finish the work he's started here".

They could always take the Caddy strategy... get Jimmy Bartel to take him out on a date and have him look in into his blue eyes. No-one can resist Jimmy.

:thumbsu: agree with you on their wording of comments re. cook, strange but jimmy bartel appears to have a thing about dressing up as a chick so a date might be on the cards

If that doesn't get your juices flowing, you're probably gay.

It'll look bad now if we dont get him. 5 months and no appointment - concerns me. But if they do - all will be forgivin

Forgiven by who? They need to land the best guy to run the club. If they take longer to ensure that everyone is sounded out I'm all for that. Who ever they get will obviously sit in the position for maybe five years. Missing a couple of months during the off season probably won't make or break the administration.

According to geelong board, brian cook returns from nepal this weekend and this coming wednesday colin carter wishes to meet with him regarding future. There is also a link to story- but i don't know how to copy it into this post from the original post on geelong board.

I'm actually in Bondi at the moment and thought I would try Icebergs. Luckily they have their menu online - saved me an embarassing walk in walk out. Bit too pricey for me. great setting though right on the cliff face. AFL expense accounts obviously have no limits.

I find the food menu about the mark for the top end of town. The 400% mark up on the wine list is a tad rude though
