Brisbane VERY easily. Take out Stanton, Watson and Monfries from the Essendon list and you dont have much at all to get excited about.

How many times have you seen Nash, Lonergan, Slattery, Ryder, Dempsey, Hocking, Firman and Lee play?

What about Bradley, Dyson, Winderlich, Laycock?

The thing is Longy,
how many of Essendon's youngsters mentioned would be worth a first rnd draft pick this year, apart from maybe Monfries (and even that it would have to be a pick after no 10 I reckon)
The scary thing is though, that the Bombers list is really hanging by a thread.
Brisbane have gone through a shock system in the last few months, but at least they have drafted and prepared for this situation, so they may not be as bad as people think next year, but gee, the Bombers are in deep strife, esp if they lose Jason Johnson and Solomon.
I cant' see any of the other middle rung Bomber players improving much next year either, apart from Adam Mcphee and probably one or two others.
Clubs like Brisbane and the Roos got found out this year because of a lack of depth, and Essendon is in the same boat really, except I could argue both the Lions and Roos have more promising youngsters (certainly I reckon that Swallow lad from the Roos is a gem)

Stanton would be. Thats it though.

This thread is comedy gold. Overall it's pretty even. Essendon played in the finals every year from 1998-2004 and Brisbane every year from 1999-2004. Neither club have had many top 10 picks in that time. Brisbane have been forced to throw their kids into the deep end over the last couple years and they've looked good at times (Sherman and Rischitelli in particular). And Adcock was very good in 2005.

Here's a quick comparison between similar youngsters on each list...
Clark v Ryder
Sherman v Stanton
Adcock v Watson
Rischitelli v Monfries
Wood v Laycock
Selwood v Winderlich
Hooper v Dempsey
Roe v Bradley
Harding v Jolley
Moody v Dyson
Stiller v Slattery

I honestly wouldn't trade any of ours for theirs.

Changing the topic because you are unable to answer the question?

Stupid, stupid way of assessing a list.
Fact of the matter is, nearly every young player that is drafted drops in value after 12 months.

You wouldn't trade a first round pick for Josh Kennedy in this years draft. Marc Murphy yes, Kennedy no. Nor would you for any of Hawthorn's first round picks, or any other first rounder from last year, that includes Ryder.

At Brisbane, only Sherman would you consider doing it for and then only a late first rounder.

Poor effort.

How so?

In the last two National Drafts, both clubs have drafted 9 players.
Brisbane have drafted more rookies, but they are allowed to.

We won't miss out on much if we lose Solly. Someone like Slattery could come straight in and give a greater output.

Lovett, Lovett-Murray, McVeigh and Welsh all improved their game this year. NLM and McVeigh especially so and Lovett has made dramatic changes to his lifestyle that enabled him to play the best footy he has played for the club late in the year. Who is to say the they won't improve again?

David Hille has stated that he is of the belief that captaincy in 2006 will improve his game. Richard Cole finished the year off strong.

I suspect you tried to think of our middle tier players and the only one you could come up with was Adam McPhee, because you know little of which you speak.

Roos got found out for a lack of depth?
They had next to no injuries this year, even their captain admitted that.
They got found out for a lack of talent, if they had to rely on their depth they would have finished below Carlton.

Without going through the Brisbane side, we played them last year with 11 players 23 and under and beat them.

Id disagree totally, we got found out because of the piss-poor example of our older players. They had absolutely shocking years, and because of it we didnt score those 4-5 goals more a game athat we did last year. It cant be a lack of talent, because two of the main offenders were AA in 2005.

If you had depth, wouldn't they have been dropped?

Thats what we as North supporters had hoped, but Laidley has certain favourites, *cough* Brown *cough*

Brisbane>>>>daylight>>>>Essendon

No contest. With the exception Monfries, maybe Laycock and Slattery, there is not a lot for Bombers fans to get excited about. They are in for a few lean years, whereas I am amazed how Brisbane have managed to recruit so well from the top.

You missed the best two. Watson and Stanton, both extremely good in our win against Collingwood.

Lovett probably doesn't qualify age wise, but is a second year player and destroyed your mob last year (2005).

Johns kicked three.

But perhaps we shouldn't read too much into form against Collingwood.

Nash has played 9 games, averaged 15 disposals this season.

Sure, we don't have the greatest list of young players in the comp, but suggest we only have one or two is an utter joke.

Not a lot to get excited about, just our regulation victory against Collingwood.

if i was essendon i'd trade ryder, stanton, laycock, winderlich, bradley, jolley and dyson for the matchups you have there. most of the others are even imo.
