I was going to make a thread dedicated to one thing but figured it wasn't worthy of its own thread but that the category of WTF's would be more appropriate.

Seriously... James Kelly polling just six votes was a serious WTF? in my books. He's been one of the more impressive players throughout the course of the season. The way he goes about his footy I would have thought that he does the things that would get him noticed. I never expected him to go close to winning it but I did believe that he would poll much more than what he did.

A minor WTF.... Round 10 - Mitch Robinson pulling in the three votes over both Murphy and Judd. Both M and J had an extra possession, laid more tackles, more goal assists and Murphy kicked a goal.

James Kelly, WTF?

What about Jordan Lewis not getting a single vote against the Blues when he was clearly best on ground?

I missed that one at the end. Seemed Speedemetriou was going through the names aside from key votes at a million miles an hour and then at the end he was rushing to get Swan announced.

I thought that he was by far BOG that night though. :thumbsu:

Dane Swan polling 34 votes....

One around round 5 I think it was where Judd smashed the game and didn't get a single vote.

There was a few of those tonight. Scotland and Robinson took the votes (twice each) from memory.

I couldn't get over how Swan got the 3 votes in the Pies V Lions game it was one his worst games for the 2011 AFL season Wtf???

Only looking on stats as it's pretty hard to remember exact rounds now but two for Pendlebury which I expected him to poll in which he didn't get a vote were rounds 16 and 17.

Round 16 - 29 disposals, 7 tackles and 160 supercoach (next best was 146 from Thomas). The little note m0nty gave him on fanfooty was "the quality of his inside 50's were a highlight" so I assume he set up plenty of goals.

Round 17 - 26 disposals, 7 goals, 2 goals and 1 behind in a 19 point win and finished with 145 supercoach (second best on ground behind Thomas on 146). Yet Swan managed to poll 1 vote with 31 touches, 2 tackles, 1 behind and 107 supercoach.

I know stats don't mean everything but it's all I'm going off as I don't want to watch two old Collingwood matches! :p

Round 17 Vs Carlton. The votes could have gone to four different players, I thought. Dane wasn't one of them.

I had Dale Thomas, Chris Judd, Pendlebury on my votes. The unlucky one for me that day wasn't Swan but rather Travis Cloke who would have gotten a vote had he kicked more accurately. He kicked 3.4 with I believe one or two not registering a score and was by far the most dominant KPP on the ground. Swan did have the most possessions for the Pies though.

Not a single vote for Barry Hall in his final season. Cannot fathom this.

Jobe Watson getting three votes over Adam Goodes in the one-point game had me scratching my head as well. Well, not scratching my head, more scoffing. Worst year I've ever seen from the umpires, really.

Probably biggest one to me was Judd getting the 3 in a losing team vs Collingwood again. Although that was probably just anger I had held onto for the last year :)

Nah he deserved the 3, 1.5 votes for Carlton and 1.5 votes for the pies, after all half his total possessions that game went to us.:D:o

Even the crowd at the Blow moaned when he got them 3 votes.

This. Adam Goodes played THE BEST game I think I have seen anyone play in a long time. I just sat there in awe of him that night.

You guy think that's bad -in the Magarey Medal James Allen didn't get 3 votes for a 54 possession game....figure that one out!!

Greg Williams thread.

James Kelly, WTF?

How many time was he in the top 3 of a match? He could be the fourth best player on the field in 20 games and not poll a single vote. A season like this would be close to winning the MVP award and get zero Brownlow votes.

Yes, because if you guys were out umpiring, you would do a perfect job and everybody would agree with you...

Now I have got that out of the way, I'm joining in:
Rnd 24, WB vs Frem: Ryan Griffen, no votes? Had 28 disposals, 2 goals, 9 inside 50s, was running and taking bounces so very noticeable. Ward had 21 disposals and 1 inside 50 and was really only noticeable because of 1 or 2 early boo's.

Daniel Wells getting 5 votes...should have had 3 vs Melbourne, 2 vs Dogs, 2 vs Adelaide, possible 1 vs Freo, and a possible 1 vs Port, to have 7 at least, and more then likely 10. This isn't a massive difference but I noticed it because I was watching for Swallow/Wells/Petrie etc

Goodes not getting 3 vs Essendon was terrible as well

Umpires "
" free kick payback" from last year where Swan clearly was the best player and Judd did nothing.
What I would like to know is why Umpires keep giving ineligible players votes when they know they have already been rubbed out?

A LOT of the Sydney votes were major WTF.

They have to give votes to players who were considered the best and fairest in that particular game.

Imagine if a TOP team lost their top ten players to ineligibility all at the start of the season. Are you telling me that if that team won 16 or 17 games from that point on that the eleventh best player who is always just a shade under their best would deserve to poll 3's all of the time? Would you rather have games such as Geelong Vs Melbourne where based on that rule (unable to vote for ineligible players) the umpire is compelled to give the votes to B. Moloney despite his team losing by 120+ points? Yeah, it may be a very unlikely situation but it could happen.

Had that rule been in place then Luke Hodge would have won the Brownlow! ;)
