the moment he was drafted he made it clear that he was only playing the one season with brisbane & he gave his all by winning the rising star awardcrowie said:He jumped from a sinking ship instead of staying and helping it sail again in the pursuit of personal glory.
I think that says it all.![]()
football is a team game, but the players dont get a say in the players they play withsunbkangas said:Is football not a "Team" game, should we not look at the career of each footballer and thier contribution to making thier "team" successful, this would decide who would be the better player.
In this sense, I think Ricciuto would just tip the scales in his favour.
As a captain he is more revered by his teammates, by far a much better captain than Buckley, He leads by example in every game that he plays.
To say that he has no skill is probably one of the dumbest things said on this poll. Both players are extremely well skilled and with that said, Buckley probably takes the skill debate, but only just.
On field presence, there is no debate, the Roo is head and shoulders above Buckley. His influence on a game can only be matched by Voss and Hird and more recently which is surprising, Aaron Hamill.
While Buckley is indeed a champion, I dont think that at this stage he is a better player than the Roo.
Ricciuto for mine, but not by much.

brilliant pies said:What a joke. Ricciuto nowhere near as good as buckley. Of course we know who is going to win this as bigfooty is a bunch of ********ers who dont like any collingwood players
I thinm if Bucks had played alongside players of the calibre of McLeod, Edwards and Goodwin, his stats (possessions and B&F awards) would be a lot lower. Ricciuto has led, and contributed to, a team that has had a number of stars in the midfield. Buckley has stood out in a team with fewer stars. That point goes in Ricciuto's favour, not Buckley's.lachystar said:...I think if Bucks had Macleod, Edwards, Goodwin and Johnson playing with him he would have been even better.
Shrug, I agree that any "Player A > Player B" argument is pretty pointless. But "whole echelon above" is ridiculous.lachystar said:...I can only put this down to an anti Collingwood sentiment or lack of care factor from non Pie/Crow supporters. In all reality, Bucks is a whole echelon above the Roo.
the fact that adelaide were able to win a flag with riccuito not playing shows that he wasn't really missedarrowman said:I thinm if Bucks had played alongside players of the calibre of McLeod, Edwards and Goodwin, his stats (possessions and B&F awards) would be a lot lower. bucks has won every medal you can win based on talentChops18 said:I like Bucks actually mate but the ROO is a better player and has acheived more then Bucks can imagine. To have a Brownlow Medal and Premiership medal round your neck is a bigger achievevment then Bucks Brownlow and Copeland medals. But has far as skill goes they are even

Cool, so you have something in common, is that what you are trying to say?Scotty B. said:You simple minded loser.

They both won Brownlows, Riccuito is like a ten million times All Australian player, premiership player, captain of the bisggest club in the AFL membership wise and is simply an absolute gun in every regard.
Riccuito>>>>>Buckley.
Sorry Pies fans, the truth can hurt.
crowie said:When both these players retire, who do you think would be more satisfied?

Nathan Buckley
Brownlow, Norm Smith (in a losing side), 6 club B+F's, Magarey Medal, Jesalenko medal, club captain, 6 time All Australian and Rising Star in 1993
Mark Riccuito
Brownlow, 3 club B+F's, club captain, 7 time All Australian.
Not to mention the number of Brownlows Bucks could have if he wasn't playing for a ******** side. Hell, he came second one year and missed 9 games
