Like I said in the other thread ...

Franklin bump was poorly executed and poor timing and could have seriously injured him

But at least it was footy move as in a bump. I argue tippets elbow is thuggery as this wasn't close to a spoil or anything.

We must eliminate thuggery

Give Tippett 4 to 3

Give buddy 2-1 .....

I suspect it might be the other way around ...or close to it

PHIL Hughes

Yup remember him ....he was stuck neat what's called amygdaloid part of the brain ......it's at the back

When guys are hit at pubs and they fall backwards and hit their heads and die ...it's because that part of the brain is very close to the skull and very exposed

Someone is going to die from a whack to the back of the head one day in our game of we allow elbows like tippets

Tippets should be 4-3 ...franklins yes ...dangerous but it was footy bump gone wrong and we can live with that ....

Tippets had the potential to hit that spot and we end up with Phillip Hughes scenario ....

Think about that people ......happens every weekend we see pine punch deaths ......

Wake up afl and do some research on the different parts of the brain ....some parts are more vulnerable than others and I'm staggered the afl is unaware of this. Hits from behind can causes death. Just like they do on a street.

Like a punch to the back of the head?

This will be 3 down to 2. Has to go for at least 1 but hard to see him getting it graded higher than medium impact.

Back in time for the Hawks game.

Surely if he continued bending down to pick the ball up he would have been charged under the new ducking interpretation? At the speed he was travelling pivoting and throwing his body over the back first would have been difficult.

People saying he played the man are blind. He was chasing the ball and made the decision to pull out and brace when he saw Edwards coming towards him.

It's a week but to claim he didn't have eyes for the ball is crap.

One man's "pull out and brace" is another's "accelerate and take the opponent out". Hit Edwards with all the force he could muster.

Would've been fine as recently as 2008, but Franklin's had multiple convictions and is a slow learner.

Watching the vision Buddy's eyes are on the player and not the ball for quite some time before he chooses to bump. For me that makes it intentional, if he was fumbling the ball and looked up and then bumped it's a different story. An intentional bump to the head has to be at least 3 weeks. If Steven May gets three this deserves three.

The fact that the outcome (injured/not injured) weighs so heavily in MRP decisions is something that needs to be addressed. Steven Mays bump didn't have any where near the potential to cause serious injury as what Buddy's did imo.

Did Stephen May get three weeks down to two with the guilty plea then challenge and get given three ? I can't recall to be honest but if so would then, on your logic Buddy deserve to get three down to two or would that not suit with Hawthorn being the opponent in three ? Oh and you are right Stephen May's bump didn't have anywhere near the potential to cause serious injury as there was no potential ruling in Rockliff's concussion.

Mate he was chasing a ball that bounced off his chest after he spilled a mark while leading at full pace. There's no denying he elected to bump Edwards, but the idea that he's lined him up from a distance and accelerated into it isn't what happened.

Why'd he stop going for the ball then you muppet?

Clearly springs upwards and runs past the ball.

Did I say he lined him up from a distance? All I'm saying is that his attention switched from the ball to the man and his intent was to go through the bloke, which he did. Literally knocked himself off his feet. He accelerated the last couple of steps, there was no "bracing" or protecting himself.

Played angry for the entire first half.

haha muppet. Good chat.

I think he wanted to the ball to bounce up so he could hit it at full speed, and then when it didn't sit up, he decided to bump instead, which was clearly the wrong move.

Again, people on bigfooty are talking about the incident like it happened in slow motion. It was a matter of a second, and Franklin is a 100+kg guy running at full speed. Had he not bumped Edwards, there would still have been very heavy contact, of which Edwards would have likely still come off worse. But he did bump him, so he'll wear the suspension.

I would swear I've heard this sort of talk around buddy somewhere before

I wonder if the tigers sent Edwards for a scan and whether they will use that when they submit their medical report
