Again, people on bigfooty are talking about the incident like it happened in slow motion. It was a matter of a second, and Franklin is a 100+kg guy running at full speed. Had he not bumped Edwards, there would still have been very heavy contact, of which Edwards would have likely still come off worse. But he did bump him, so he'll wear the suspension.

It was very similar to the bump on Cousins for which he got two weeks back in 2009, only then he had less time to react and didn't hit as hard.

Nothing against Franklin, still the best player to watch in full flight and it's probably in our interests for you to beat Port and keep them off our backs. But he's gotta go.

I think you would struggle to find more than a handful of Sydney fans who are arguing that he shouldn't be suspended. I'm certainly not. Are there actually any in this thread?

There's only one question that counts - did he have an alternative?

Everything else is moot.

haha muppet. Good chat.

I think he wanted to the ball to bounce up so he could hit it at full speed, and then when it didn't sit up, he decided to bump instead, which was clearly the wrong move.

The petty excuses are embarrassing.

He ran over the ball, elected to bump, made contact with the head.

Gone.

You guys are damaged.

No - I'm fine with it, not that you are going to believe that but it's highly amusing hearing it getting trotted out by another lot of supporters

Meltdown time

Why - most people have said 1-2 but nothing will surprise

The only thing I'm interested in and that could be classified as a gripe is the "what damage "might" have happened" scenario and what that cops and That's mainly because of "insufficient force" beinf trotted out by the MRP instead of "what if" as they do in some cases

Watching it at the time I thought, that's part of footy. Didn't gather the ball so put some body on the bloke right in his path. No worries. I would have screamed blue murder had he gotten weeks doing the same thing playing for us.

However, he would have gotten weeks if he did play for us.

Intentionally choosing to not gather the ball, go the player and hit them clean in the head is not "part of footy".

If he tried to pick up the ball and made contact with the head in that process it wouldn't be as bad.

I thought it was a 3 week down to 2 incident. In that sense I think he's a tad lucky.
