Yeah, nah they had a 9 day break. We need to stop making excuses and face some realities about some of our players.

Yep. And West Coast won at the Gabba, beat us at home in a close hard fought contest then pounded GWS in Sydney. That's how it's done.

Can the AFLPA agree to a new clause in their players agreement that every time the playing group states it's not the coaches fault but the playing groups, that their is a mechanism to deduct some of their player payments as penalties?

Be proud of losing?

I really hope that is not all you took from my comments. It is so far away from what I was saying that I really only thought someone as stupid as a Collingwood supporter would think like that. :)

The reality is we are 3:6, and we are in a business which doesn't tolerate losing. I see all other stuff is becoming more irrelevant by the minute.

Yep I know, but it's a history making 3:6. :)

Chin up, and remember, always look on the bright side of life.. :)

And be thankful you aren't a Demons supporter.

Lol, we cant sack him Brayshaw re-signed him until the end of 2016 cos he wanted to be his friend and golf buddy. I say 'SACK BRAYSHAW!'.

Yes I do, more so mentally then anything else. I've thought this way for a couple of weeks now. This team will not play finals let alone be competitive let alone win a Grand Final, don't let the close looses fool you that we are close because we are further back then last year after that thumping in the elimination final.

With respect, this is total crap. :hearts:

No, that they went coast to coast all day and we couldn't do anything about it. This has been a constant problem yet the team is learning how to deal with. Therefor the coach isn't doing his job.

Plenty think brads coaching has been great and i agree for 3/4 of the game anyway. i would like to know what the defensive strategy is for when the other team gets a roll on. That way i can define the problem part of his coaching that clearly isnt working.

What are Brad's assistants/line coaches doing during the game- seems that since D McDonald left the group ( I presume he has done so) things have deteriorated significantly ( whether this ia result of McDonald leaving or not is another question).

Thanks Carl.

Look forward to Brad taking some accountability for this. Dean had plenty of faults but he was tactically astute.

Robin,

Thanks for taking the time to write to me.

Like you, I am bitterly disappointed with our defensive efforts and the inability to stem the flow. Rest assured I will be seeking explanations of everything we are doing, whether it be coaching technique or the discipline of our players when it comes to defensive efforts. This review has already started today. The status quo is unacceptable.

Regards

Subject: Explanation

Hello Carl

You don’t know me from Adam. Have watched North for over 50 years like my father before me and been a member since I returned to Australia permanently.

We as supporters who part with the wherewithal to pay these players and coaches would like an explanation from the coach as to why he refuses to play a more defensive setup late in games where we are defending a reasonable lead. No-one seems to have the courage to ask Brad why he does not instruct players to play in the defensive half until it is too late. This is not the first time this has happened and we as supporters are heartily sick of the same problems arising and nothing different being done to combat it. A NM version of insanity.

I have written to you as someone who should have the authority to require an explanation. Brad needs to have the balls to answer what is a chorus of outrage over what we see as coach-assisted losses. We see a coach appointed long-term who serves up the same “ cross my arms and look angry “ scenario but who offers little tactically to assist.

Maybe my take but there are a very large number out here who think simarlily.

With regards

I don't think Scott is to blame, nor do I think he is coaching all that well either. I think we have a great list and that is getting us so far, but not as far as it should/could be.

Scott is contracted to 2016 so clearly it is not "bye bye Brad". We have to stick by him and does appear to have us going in the right direction.

In saying that I can't remember a poorer NM defensive team (not just last quarters, in general) in near 30 years supporting.

If Scott can't change/improve this, then the club needs to bring in a senior/experienced assistant to Scott who can. If it's just the players who are refusing to follow coaching instructions regarding the defensive side of the game, then those ones need to go.

I made a similar point on some thread last night I can't recall, but that would be the shittiest excuse of all. They've had a 9 day break. And I'm sure they're not using that. Certainly Scott wouldn't be. He was livid. I've never seen him that angry.

Scott said that they have had three years to work on their fitness and it was not a physiological issue. Certainly not blaming fitness or travel. I hope to **** he tore shreds off the guys last night and this morning. As employees their performance in the last 15 minutes of the second and fourth quarters was not good enough. As North Melbourne footballers it was a ****ing disgrace.

I'm glad they're taking it seriously. Hopefully this time they go beyond the feather duster approach. I get why they've approached things in a calm measured manner so far but results are suggesting a change of tact is required.

Mate, we haven't been a good defensive team since the 1970s. We're probably the last team to win the premiership who weren't in the top 3 or so for points against.

5 goals you f*wit.
1 kick in the last qtr. Not a single tackle. Did you listen to what Scott said in the presser? If this isn't questioned then Scott better walk out the door. I'm not saying he didn't play well in the first half but like I have always said he's soft. He showed it again yesterday, he just doesn't stand up when it gets tough. He was piss weak last week, and poor the two weeks before that. If guys like Gibson, Adams, and Drew get questioned then why the hell not this guy?

the signs were there clear as day in the second quarter. I said at the time we would lose by 7 goals. Nothing was done to fix it in the second half. I'm starting to think that players and coaches alike thought, right we've had a good third qtr for once, we'll be right now.

Love your work there Bernie. I am still on team Scott, but I'd like to hear an explanation on his defensive tactics.

Yeah, probably true regarding the points.

I just continue to be stunned as opposition walk through some of our tacklers like they aren't even there, we get completely outpositioned in the backline (how many goals are kicked against us off the back of a contest because we dont have a spare man goalside?) or just slice us up the middle when teams start winning the contested ball (usually when our mids tire towards end of quarters).

At least in the 90s and under Laidley we got the basics of footy under control. I am not comparing coaches or who is better/worse, but it seems clear that both have major deficiencies in their game plan.

Ahh sack the coach, first resort of a pack of soft losers. how about sticking with brad and the boys ?? idiots

You can't tell me with a straight face that North will go anywhere near finals in 2013 let alone be competitive in an actual final?

We are mentally soft and are arguably worse defensively then last year. We've also lost to 4 teams that were considered scalps last year. Yes in some ways we have improved, but in other ways we have gone backwards.
