I think alot of this thread is missing the point when talking about whether Nobes has the players on side.
In any AFL club with as many players on the list covering a 15 year age gap there will always be personality clashes, cliques, single boys v family men etc etc.
IMO the 'players on side' issue is a very minor part of the Walsh review.
Ultimately the issue is whether after 35-40 games do we think Nobes is/can be a good coach - is he getting results consistent with the playing list and the path of the rebuild we are under.
As a young coach (in games coached) is he capable of the improvement required to be successful or has he shown enough characteristics of failed coaches in past era's.
In my mind he has shown signifcant weaknesses in strategy (game plan, choice of leadership group) and tactics (Thursday night selection and game day moves.)
Nobes is very good in the areas of media and stakeholder management.
Ultimately though the issue for Walsh and the club is whether there is a materially better coach available to us - if the answer is yes then we must move and move swiftly - if not then the second best outcome of improving the experience around Nobes comes into play.
how the mighty have fallen into such references…As for his position as head coach we all know it's untenable but if people think we're going to have some miraculous change of fortunes once he's gone then we're gonna be saying bye bye more times than NSYNC.

You’ve changed big fella
50x less cringeThat reference is like five years older than NSYNC.
I’m basing that comment solely on Chadwiko ’s source. What is going on and who’s it going on with?
I think it was probably seen as a win-win by both parties because after a strong preseason, the club figured either we’ll give him game time and he’ll wanna stay, or we’ll give him game time and his value as a traceable commodity will have increased.Just a guess, but I reckon Xerri was given games to keep him at the club while CJ was safe on a four year deal.

Brad Scott was officially a resignation who left on his own terms.
This is an interesting idea and tbh not one that I’d considered before.Ultimately though the issue for Walsh and the club is whether there is a materially better coach available to us - if the answer is yes then we must move and move swiftly - if not then the second best outcome of improving the experience around Nobes comes into play.

I’m still taking a 45 yr old GoldyIt was the first sign for me that Noble isnt a good coach. We have Goldy who can ruck all day every week and yet he was determined to play Xerri. I get that Goldy isn’t getting any younger but he showed no signs of slowing down to the point where he needed to share ruck duties. No soft tissue injuries, still trained throughout the week, and he has never shown that he can be a leading/marking forward, yet in our first game Goldy sits on the bench for half the first quarter while Xerri gets peaced up. That was alarm bells for me. Then to continue with the game plan reeked of stubbornness and stupidity. Even Scott wasn’t that stubborn. If Xerri reaches his absolute peak, I’m still taking a 35 year old Goldstein.
The rest is just a stinking mess as well. We’ve got the first number 1 draft pick making noises about wanting to go home, yeah I know he hasn’t said it publicly, but the club would love to have had him in front of a camera by now saying how much he likes the joint but obviously that hasn’t happened. We’ve got the Thomas situation. Stephenson can’t get a kick.
Oh and they literally give up every week. They actually just ******* give up. You can see when it happens. The Gold Coast game, Jesus Christ, I’d rather get skull ducked then watch a North side roll over like that. Pathetic.

I think this is about leadership, in particular on gameday. It would appear that Noble is doing most things right. He says the team is working on the small wins, the progress, the big picture etc. Which is how it should be. Performance by Design is about mindfulness, committment and direction. So that is right. The side is missing one key ingredient, that is that they are simply not enjoying their footy. For whatever reason they are not enjoying building a high performance team. Committment and plain hard slog don't have to be not enjoyable. But they need to be shown how to enjoy the hard work. It is significant that it is mostly the young players that appear not happy. The older blokes probably know how to derive some pleasure from losing and getting yelled at each game. They see and are committed to a bigger picture. The younger blokes probably don't have that skill yet.Last week, watching Noble spray the team at 3 quarter time and the pathetic response the boys gave was the nail in the coffin for me.
Also Powell looks unsettled. No signing from Cam. Stephenson looks miserable. TT seems unhappy and doesn’t care.
We seem to go into every game with no confidence and know we’re going to lose. Plus I can’t see how the players give a s**t atm either or are interested in what Nobles plan is. The message is falling on deaf ears.
Idc about the losses, we’re a bottom side, rebuilding, its the way we’re losing. You’re right, it’s pathetic.
Going to wait for some change. I would love to see some fight and spirit from the boys. How does Noble get it out of us? No idea
Yeah but what about when Goldy is 38 and Xerri has spent his career in the VFL or left for *. That is what Noble is sposed to be coaching for.It was the first sign for me that Noble isnt a good coach. We have Goldy who can ruck all day every week and yet he was determined to play Xerri.
