The slow over-rate penalties
  • If behind the required over rate at the start of the 18th over, one additional player must enter the fielding circle - for a total of five players inside the circle
  • If behind the rate at the start of the 19th over, two additional fielders must enter the fielding circle - for a total of six inside the circle
  • If behind the rate at the start of the final over, teams will lose a player from the field - selected by the captain - and have six inside the fielding circle
  • There will also be an onus on batting teams to keep the game moving. After a first and final warning from the umpires, the batting team will be slapped with a five-run penalty for each instance of time wasting

Id imagine with those rule changes, games will be higher scoring in this edition.

I usually hate all the different s**t being bought into cricket lately but this is superb. An onus on both teams to get moving has been long overdue, especially on the batting team.

You should have a look at what the MLB are doing with baseball now with Pitch Timers. Trying to reduce the time between pitches to speed up the game there as well. The Batter needs to be ready by a certain time, and the pitcher needs to throw by a certain time. It's not just cricket that is doing these kinda things.

Question. Why have Wednesday and Thursday night cricket matches but not Friday? Would think more people would rock up on a Friday night than a night during the week. Im not familiar with West Indian culture but someone enlighten me.

Pollard hitting the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots to one part of the ground. Four of them have gone further than 100 metres.

Every time I watch him walk out and hit the ball like that it just makes my heart sink.

Not only does he have that power which frankly has probably only ever been matched in elite cricket by Chris Gayle, he actually has a modicum of technique particularly in defence. He played an elite backs to the wall knock against Australia at the SCG 7-8 years back where he hit a century from a terrible position to give a taste of what he had under the bonnet.

Go back to where this whole t20 bullshit kicked off and if things were done differently by Dave Cameron and his cronies things might have been different
