Both teams look atrocious and for a couple of years to come, which list would you prefer ?

I'd take Heppell, Hurley and Daniher over those 4.carlton have a base to build , kreuzer , murphy , gibbs & cripps are all above anything the bombers have coming through
the bombers lack talent all over the park , and that is with a full list !!
I think Gibbs winning the B&F says more about the poor shape of your list than the quality of the base you are building...
I just don't think he is as good a player as people make him out to be, his a good player. But he isn't an out and out superstar that you want to build a team around. Daniher/Hurley are/will be in the discussion for the best player in their position. Heppell already AA and a B&F he is well on his way to being a superstar midfielder. I just think their base is better than Carltons.Made the All Australian squad and was considered by some in the media as being stiff to miss a spot in the final 22. Was in good form last year, so I think this is just talking him down for whatever reason you have.
Kreuzer, Murphy and Gibbs are closer to retirement than their draft age, and by the time Carlton are competent again, they'll be in cushy coaching roles or boardroom jobs.carlton have a base to build , kreuzer , murphy , gibbs & cripps are all above anything the bombers have coming through

Heppell, Merrett, Langford, Laverde, Daniher. That's five proper young guns, Carlton have two (Menzel and Cripps) and one is reportedly fed up with the joint.
Throw in Essendon's considerable advantage in the key positions and it's not close, even if bans are forthcoming.

I don't know if envy is the right word.gee whiz the bulldog supporters are more impressed with the bumbling bombers than Essendon supporters themselves
always suspected the bulldogs have western suburb envy of their northern neighbour !!

Casboult has improved, but Daniher will be a top 5 forward in the competition, no doubt in my mind. Fair enough re Langford/Laverde, but Carlton just haven't got that sort of talent around, Menzel/Cripps aside. Of course, development is a huge factor too, but that's not exactly a point in the Blues' favour either.huge laughs , if you are going to count daniher I will count casboult
big call on a couple of the others which have barely played
ps; if I were a bulldog I would be enjoying my team and not be too worried abt the blues & bombers which are both pretty s@#$%

I still think both lists are utter garbage but I prefer Essendons if its only for Hurley, Daniher and Heppell. Both clubs are in for a world of pain for a few years imo.gee whiz the bulldog supporters are more impressed with the bumbling bombers than Essendon supporters themselves

Graham and Boekhorst should be in over Ashby and McKennaIf you did a combined 25 (because it seems like a good number) and under 22 about 20 of the players would be from Essendon. Then again, there'd only be 1 ruck (McKernan).
EDIT: I was a bit harsh, a few outside of Menzel and Cripps would be there. Might as well give it a shot (as of 21/08/15):
FB: Tuohy (Car) - Hurley (Ess) - Carlisle (Ess)
HB: Gleeson (Ess) - Henderson (Car) - Hibberd (Ess)
MF: Zaharakis (Ess) - Heppell (Ess) - Z Merrett (Ess)
HF: Menzel (Car) - Jaksch (Car) - Laverde (Ess)
FF: Edwards (Ess) - Daniher (Ess) - Colyer (Ess)
OB: McKernan (Ess) - Cripps (Car) - Docherty (Car)
IC: Langford (Ess) - J Merrett (Ess) - Ashby (Ess) - McKenna (Ess) (yes I know McKenna hasn't played a game but the kid's a gun)
Ashby shits on Boek, Graham I'll concedeGraham and Boekhorst should be in over Ashby and McKenna
Yarran at his best is clearly a better player than Tuohy, Gleeson, zaka, laverde, Edwards, Docherty, Langford, jerrett, Ashby, Graham. Yarran and Colyer are prob even.Obviously i didn't include key position playersIf you did a combined 25 (because it seems like a good number) and under 22 about 20 of the players would be from Essendon. I violently don't rate Yarran, but I'd definitely dispute Zaka and Tuohy. Tuohy is Yarran with defensive skills.Yarran at his best is clearly a better player than Tuohy, Gleeson, zaka, laverde, Edwards, Docherty, Langford, jerrett, Ashby, Graham.
