Any ideas for the last rookie spot?
Depends on how the mid-season draft order is formed, and who's left with an open rookie spot when the season starts. Here's how it stands currently:

So this is the current order of the mid-season draft (assuming based on 2018 finish):

1. Carlton
2. Gold Coast
3. Western Bulldogs
4. North Melbourne
6. GWS
7. Melbourne
8. Richmond

The draft may shift depending on 2019 ladder order, and additional teams may enter due to further PSS signings, LTIs and retirements.

There seems to be a bit of annoyance around our pick #66 and later players.

Can I just ask, what you were expecting out of those late picks?

Plus we would have had another late pick had we not moved on Stocker.

On a side, Stocker and Crows’ 1st next year would have otherwise been Our 1st next year plus a very speculative pick 70 odd.

Provided we’re right on Stocker (and I think even at worst he’ll still be a serviceable player), the 2 for 1 nature of that trade should be terrific for us.

Agree. Added bonus is we get a year of development into Stocker as well. He'll be good, I like what I see when he kicks the pill. Good off both left and right boot. Plus he's a goer.

how cool our club is full-on embracing the latest the sport has to offer at least with regard to staying abreast of the modern game - looking with distaste at you, elliot........

With our new players receiving their jumper numbers today, it dawned on me that we have added 11 players to our list in this off season (with another spot up for grabs). This is a further 25% turnover of our list. If there were any doubts about the depth of our rebuild under Bolts/SOS, surely a 4th season of significant turnover of our list puts these doubts to rest.

And just quietly, SOS has been able to bring in another 3 first round picks without losing a first round pick next year...

It’s easier to count who was there when Bolts and SOS started:

Simpson
Kreuzer
Murphy
Ed Curnow
Thomas
Jones
Casboult
Cripps
Docherty

Crikey and after next year, down to 5 maybe just 4
Wow - the value of having a proper list manager!

If we were told only 9 would survive to 2019 when SOS started who would have guessed Jones and Thomas would be two?

Offline for a week. Come back and see we've selected Liam Stocker.

Like this trade. Has good explosive power from the contest. Exactly what we need.

I'm really hoping, and I guess all I can do is hope, is that we trade Adelaide's 2019 1st rounder for Jye Caldwell next year :)

That would officially complete our midfield.

FWIW, don't think we need to target Josh Kelly or similar players next year. Midfield is pretty much set. Just needs time to mature and develop.

Cripps, Kennedy, Setterfield, Dow, Stocker, Cuningham, Walsh, O'brien, Fisher, SPS

+ Caldwell :)

Would love to take a chance on Sydney Stack, but not sure that will happen.

Logic would suggest it's between Lamb, Fisher, Blakey and Palmer.

Could also be a surprise selection a la Finbar O'Dwyer style.

Fair enough. If we miss, we miss.....

I think SOS places a lot of weight on the character / intellect of potential draftees. Stocker's highlights are decent - granted he is an upper-ager - but he just speaks so. bloody. well. You can hear the determination and competitiveness in his voice. That's what gives me confidence.
He can run footy ops when he retires

Agree with Kelly will not the top priority, but if we’re able to snare an A grade mature bodied midfielder 25 to 27 it woukd truly settle our midfield for a decade.
By 20/21 we’d be unstoppable for quite a while.

Reminds me of Doc in that he answers the actual question intelligently, moreso than most players at a similar age who recite known lines - gel with the boys, play my role, one week at a time etc

I'd actually say the same for Ben who surprised me in his press conference yesterday. Confident yet unassuming.
