Pick 9 isn’t a bargain price though is it? I would hate to get Kemp as I see Setters and Kennedy being those big mids, I would be more than happy as a rule if we steered clear of any kid who’s done an ACL in the 1st round of the draft.
Bargain price in the sense that before the ACL he was an absolute lock for a top 5 pick.

I would love to take Kemp if we keep 9, as he could be the big bodied mid we're crying out for.

We are not crying out for a big-bodied mid in the draft. Kemp (or anyone else we draft early) won't be able to play that role for a few years whilst their bodies develop.

Any big bodied mid we need for immediate impact should be obtained via the trade period, free agency, or a mature-aged draftee.

That being said, I am not convinced we need one. We did need one, but the longer we wait, the less we need one, because our kids are developing.

Either way, Kemp is mostly damaging because of his versatility, he can play forward, back and mid, so although he's not at the top of my list I'd be more than ok with taking him.

Rozee had shoulder issues that weren't openly reported.

Sharp is extremely talented but conditional, I wouldn't risk it, especially if he is playing possum to remain in WA
If we can figure out that he's playing possum, we should call his and the WA teams' bluff and just grab him.

I'm getting really tired of them getting WA talent on the cheap, especially in the context of every other state not having the same luxury.

For those who know the draft, who are the best balanced inside/outside midfielders in the pool? Then add a layer of good kicking skills too? Kind of like a Coniglio type.

Stephens - Small bodied but is like a Gaff styled player with under rated inside ability. Solid kicking skills. (Highly likely gone by pick 9)
Young - Best kick of the lot, just has not lived a lot in the midfield, but he has the talent. Will start forward or back (Potentially gone)
Flanders - Brute of a player, looks good forward but showed midfield ability. Dangerous forward of center. (Sneaky chance, but probably gone)
Rivers - Jack of all trades, just has not shown pure inside midfielder ability because of his ability to play everywhere. Great skills and decision making. (Most likely but I have not seen many experts rate him around pick 9)

Henry - Dockers
Maginness - Hawks

I don't think he is worth a pick in the top 12

Thanks LemmingMaster, appreciate you taking the time to respond and educate. Sounds like we would be happy with any one of the first 4 you mentioned with Stephens the pick of the group but also the least likely.

Out of curiosity, how do Rowell and Anderson compare to Sammy W?

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Rowell is pretty comparable, not much flash but consistently good, should have an instant impact at AFL level.

Anderson is a bit more boom or bust, he's a bit more of a De Goey type, where he can play as powerful stoppage player that bursts from packs, or as an athletic medium forward.

They wanted 2020 second as well though. If it was a simple 9 for 15+ Martin, I'm sure he would of done it.

Disagree, i think we have someone in mind who won’t be there at 15.
SOS could have evened up the deal with a 3rd coming back, I think he didn’t trade down for a reason.

Time will tell,

SOS is trading down from pick 9, if that was an option, he would have accepted the GC deal for Martin, where we got pick 15

But what if it’s 2 players (~15 & ~25) for the 1 pick?
Same with our later picks, coupled up & brought forward for a specific player?
= 3 targeted players that we thought we could obtain and that could be our senior list complete including Martin, Newnes, S.Gray(?)...
Intriguing what we’ll aim to do.

Time will tell,

Just under 5 weeks for pick swaps & ~6 weeks for the draft, time will be all our enemies :)

Craig Cameron was the one that actually said with a 2nd coming back in his presser, most other commentators seemed to overlook that part.

Just don’t think a 1st was ever in our thinking for the trade. I hope the PSD works.

What happens with #9 is anyone’s guess but a lot of speculation will abound.
