Last week's 2nd half when the free kicks are 11-2: BLUES ARE BACK BABY! WHAT A WIN!

This week when we get a couple our way: OMG THIS IS THE WORST UMPIRING OF ALL TIME WHAT A SCANDAL

I should be annoyed, but it's more amusing than anything else.

Nothing, not once, has been said about us beating arguable the best team and premiership favourites with so many players with little experience.

I try to not get political within football threads but for a lot of today I've been thinking about my dad & 2007

My dad was a diehard Geelong supporter and he passed the love of the Blue & White onto me - even though I was born on the GC, I knew what Geelong was before I knew it where it was or moving to the area. We moved back to Geelong in 88, so dad saw the losses in 89 & 92 before he died in 93, so at least he didn't have to watch the back to back losses of 94 & 95

Being a youngster when he died we never spoke about politics, so I never knew which way he was inclined or had it influence me as I became voter age and taken my own interest in it

The first I learnt about his political ideas was the night of the 07 Federal election when my brother texted me - "Dad would have loved this year", referring to the Grand Final win and Rudd getting up

So as I said earlier, I'm not looking to turn this into a political discussion, but I do know that wherever my dad is watching from tonight that he'll be loving today and enjoying an extra beer in celebration - and that makes me happy

We may have found a role for mullin. Because he has a great work rate and a good tank tagging gives him a role that hides his lack of footy brain.

That was the best game I've seen Clark play. He just needs to lift his involvements across 4 quarters which is where the tank is the problem but he does 2 or 3 things that show you his hunger and his football smarts.

Dangerfield has an ability to carry a team with him that few people ever have. Axe did axe things and mannagh is building him and close were huge. I didn't think Smith would find his touch this quick.
Osullivan and humphries are so good for their ages they will be stars. Even Wiltshire showed a little bit. By and large our kids are super.

Sdk is still the worry as is neale. Sdk does some great things but at times lacks confidence and didn't get to contests late. Unless we create an MSD spot and get a mature ruck in he will have to carry a huge ruck load for the next 2 months and I'm not sure he can.
Neale nearly ripped the game apart in the first half (and made frampton look like the lamp post he is) but then had a couple of critical moments in the 4th quarter with the shot he didn't take and then the pack he didn't hit and shepherd the ball through. Both of them could be anything but are so inconsistent and we don't have alternative tall options to them (sdk we do when henry is back but it still doesn't solve our ruck problem and neale we have no other key fwd alternative).
I think ultimately those things will cost us in finals but if we play with the fight we did tonight we are a chance.

The composure on that kick to put Mannagh away late on when Mannagh got run down was incredible under pressure.

It was good and I loved that when Nick tried to niggle him he didn't take a backward step and Nick lost his cool and gave away the 50. I still maintain he's not a back pocket as he doesn't have the football IQ for that role but in this role tonight's the first time I felt he could be afl standard.

We live in Australia, so the fact Voldemort didn’t get in and Collingwood lost makes it a bloody ripper of a day

Cracking open a beer—cheers to your old man.
