I think it's crazy throwing Darcy and Fyfe to the wolves and I would have taken McDonald over Draper so I disagree with all 3 ins.

There’s no depth at Peel other than NOD and McDonald.

Most obvious would’ve been McDonald for Pearce, Aish for Simpson to keep Wagner as an on-baller, Bolton forward for Dudley and NOD replaces Bolton in the middle. Not ideal but better than binning a winning formula to shoehorn in two underdone players

I don’t agree with the Darcy inclusion but I can understand it. Rushing Fyfe back so soon I can’t wrap my head around, even as the sub. Guy’s played one game in 9 months and is coming off a serious hammy. Surely we could’ve waited until after the bye

Going to withhold further judgement for now because it’s just the kind of silly BS that’ll end up working somehow but if we lose JL has to wear it

Don't know why people are surprised by these selections of Fyfe and Darcy as it is what JL has always done. JOM and Walters will be straight back in too once fit to play.

TBH I'm worried for Fyfe.
Fyfe is a legend.
But for the majority of 2024 he struggled. No knock on him, his body let him down. And this on the back of a disappointing past 3 years or so.
It would be a miracle for him to shine out there tomorrow.
Much more likely he gets shown up.
That's not right for a true champion and someone who has given his all for the club and for us.
I just want the best for him.
I don't want to patronise him. But he wouldn't be the first champion to struggle to see that he's not ready to deliver.
I hope I am wrong.
If Fyfe has a day out we will thrash that nepo baby.

That's the concern. That Fyfe struggles then it's hard to pick him after the bye and Darcy limps around fuelling Kane Cornes narrative that it doesn't work and we lose by 50.

Hopefully the plan is to sub Darcy out at half time for Fyfe then Fyfe gets a run with role, probably on Rowell.

Rain during the game should be to our advantage. Hardly ever rains in SEQ during the winter months.
I remember playing there for 5 or 6 years and never did it rain on game day.
Climate may have changed a bit in the last 50 years though. Still I am led to believe that the weather system bringing the current rain to the GC area is unusual.

But it rains all summer during pre-season?

Our squad have seen 3 or 4 rainy days in 7 months and we've gone super tall.

The bye influences all this.

Issue is Gold Coast has included Witts AND Moyle as the ruck duo. Jackson would get battered all game. Darcy is the sacrificial pawn here. McDonald/Voss v Moyle? Would lose the taps almost everytime

Draper is always the back up for Pearce, not McDonald.

100% agree with Aish. Ideal replacement down back and Wagner stays in the middle.

NOD needs this week for Peel and perhaps a training load in the bye and he’s cherry ripe for North. Have to weigh up in the wet, and how much it’ll affect NOD or Fyfe.
