Mzungu replaced by Hughes

Ok, we lose experience and there'll no doubt be some frustrating times early but the improvement in skill is massive, so too is the improvement to pace and smarts so we just need to grit our teeth and take the plunge.

I'd also like to think we can perhaps trade or draft an immediate starter to come in e.g. Adams, Bootsma, McCarthy etc. All plug and play.

Question mark for Pav because we're not sure he'll play on. I think he will (neglecting his achilles), he would have retired if we'd won a premiership. Question mark on Sheridan just because i'm not sure he does quite enough (opinion was formed before the dropped mark).

A really good forward to come in for Pavlich or Taberner would be great but if wishes were horses we'd all be eating steak. We've got the basis of a team, missing a real focus point up forward and we'd be hoping for guys like Weller to add some class to our inside fifties.

With the trading we're going to do, he'd be a fantastic 3rd round pick.

And with all the dead wood that needs to go, I'd keep DeBoer before any of Mzungu etc. at least he's quick and physical

Walters to Half Back > I know he kicked lots of goals for us but we can't turn defensive turnovers into scores because our ball users there don't have the bullet kicks short and choose to kick long for another stoppage. Fast ball movement from half back will put guys like Mayne (average player) in lots of space and I think it will gain us 5 goals a game. It doesn't have to be Walters, but we need someone with that kicking ability and confidence to execute.

He was right. If we had kicked as well as the Hawks did at goal and hadn't gifted two goals with the kicks across the defensive fifty we would have been up to our elbows in it.

Dawson and D.Pearce gotta go ,Mayney in the gun too .Muzungu has gone to sh#t and Matty DeBoer tries hard like mayney but doesn't have the skillsets we need. Need more run . Barlow may be up for trade if the right offer comes along. Zac Clarke tradeable Suban maybe as well. Question is obviously is the window closed and how much is the rebuild or rejig .

Hope Pav sticks around but I recon he will retire, his best is behind him but he is still a warrior. 38 goals this year I think, if that was coming from ur 2nd or 3rd tall no-one would complain.

Need Mccarthy and probably need to take the chance on Harley. A.Pearce should play every game down back . Weller and Langdon showed a bit but who knows, Croz still has a bit to give has the potential.

There can only be positives out of this heartbreaking loss. Ross has really squeezed every last drop out of this current side and we cannot win a flag with them. List changes need to be made and it's time to move on the slow, unskilled triers who can only get you so far. De Boer, Mzungu, Suban, Mayne, D.Pearce should not get anymore game time next year. Either move them on or they are depth at most.

Completely agree with this.

We need forward structure first and foremost. We need classy kickers who attack rather than defend and we need players who will take the bloody shot at goal rather than hand balling 5m continuously.

We need the replacement players to have 50-100 games already, we can't bring in guys in finals with under 20 games experience or conditioning.

Ross can only play the players able to play. Play.

Strong effort in the offseason from the football department required, we need to draft a mature age defender/forward (Adams etc) and hope the likes of Langdon, Weller come back for preseason in ripping nick. If we get lucky next season on injury and form we can be up there again.

I'm glad you said it and not me because i've been hounded enough for it. I don't know how he survives post this year, there is state league defenders out there who would do better. He is getting selected through necessity only I'm sure

Use an early pick on Hartley from the VFL. He will slot straight in.

By itself stand alone I wouldnt see a suspension but more so the fast that he only needs one more fine and it's an automatic one match suspension, would have been interesting had you guys won. Was barracking for you guys.

I don't think Pav can go on, output gradually dropping each year achilles problems the last couple of years, Can't chase after defenders and is diabolical below his knees now. Has been an expert at manning the mark and pointing for younger players to man up his man, which is his prerogative as captain and an elder player but it happens to often and doesn't set a good example.
Mcpharlin Just can't. Won't be convinced this time around. Still good but cant get through 24 games.
Johnson is still our best rebound defender but again struggling to get through a season. We are in trouble when he doesn't play or isn't fully fit. I Dont think he should retire or anything, but we should not be relying on him as much, but with mcpharlin gone we will be even more so.
Zac Dawson, shouldn't be getting a game but will because of lack of options.
Taberner has to play because of no other options. Throw footballs at him all summer- hard, mark em or wear em.
Mayne probably the same is a good mark but geez what else does he offer, pressure acts .... god help me. A point is a turn over afaic. Plays because he has to.
Too many average players last night when the heat was on. Teams have figured out that we have less than a handfall of good ball users, so just stand on Hill Mundy, Fyfe, Pierce's rhs and Neales Lhs and everyone else is a 50/50 chance of hitting a target, gross generalisation I know. How do Pierce and Neale get this far as one sided players that have to kick loopy banana passes off their preferred foot because they cant kick at all off their wrong foot. At all.
