This is what the club posted at 3pm on the official website:

Collingwood midfielder Adam Treloar will seek further information over the next 24 hours to learn the full extent of his hamstring “cramps” in Sunday's win over Carlton.

Treloar failed to return to the field after pulling up short after lunging for a loose ball midway through the final term on Sunday.

The 25-year-old instantly felt for both legs while lying on the MCG turf, before heading to the bench where he completed run-throughs on the boundary.

"I got a scan just before on the hammies and (I'll) get a couple more opinions from a few people," Treloar said on Monday.

"It just felt like a cramp, that's why we're trying to suss out what's going on. I've never done a soft tissue or anything so I don't really know what's happened.

"(I feel) a bit sore obviously, it feels OK (today). I can't really compare it to anything else because I've never (done a hamstring). I'll find out in the next 24 hours I guess."

Collingwood’s next match is against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium this Saturday.

From any reliable sources?

It does admittedly appear to be a "someone tweeted something let's all report it" thing - been trying to catch it everywhere I can and they all seem to be saying "it has been reported that ... et al".

Like I said above though I wouldn't be surprised if it is legit - that action yesterday looked about as bad as you can get for producing a hamstring strain / tear (I pinged one myself back in the day in a similar manner).

Treloar looked pretty good as he was walking out from the doctor on the news tonight for someone who has done both hammies

Mark Stevens running with it too, albeit he is saying it's a minimum 4 weeks out. Horrible if true. I know we have shown some depth during this terrible run of injuries, but Treloar is not someone who we can replace. Guess it's finally time for the bear to make his debut.

Degoey is permanent midfielder now and Elliot needs to stay fit when he's back , I want to stay positive and say even if he's out for the season we can cover him, degoey just has to LIFT BIG TIME , Sier needs to come in and have immediate impact. I'm not panicking it's fine it's so fine ....... FUUUUU
Out: Greenwood Trelore
In: Sier brown

Well you would think the club will get on the front foot tonight and release a statement denying the news OR is the club again going to stuff around members and supporters!!

Why? Isn't that what Walshy's injury update is for?

The upside is we do have the best midfield depth in the comp. If its only 3 to 4 weeks, as has now been mentioned, l think we can cover the loss. With Elliott, Varcoe, Moore, Reid, Aish and Fasolo on the verge of coming back, we may be ok.

If we are relying on one player, then we dont deserve to win the flag.

Take out Bontempelli or Dusty Martin out of their respective teams for their premiership years and the season plays out completely different, that's just the reality of a tight competition.. star players make a big impact.

Well the phrase " Getting on the front foot" means dealing with any rumour or innuendo immediately. Considering its all over the media that Treloar is practically out for the year and if that is not correct, the club should announce that tonight. Walsh's update is done on Wednesday.

Bulldogs and Richmond dont have our midfield depth. We have depth that can cover a loss, plus with players to come back in, particulary Elliott's return is now super important, we can continue with the flexibility up forward and move DeGoey into Treloars position for the next month or remainder of the year whichever time frame you believe he is out.

However you try spin it, losing Treloar is a huge loss. Hopefully it's just 4 weeks

Obviously it’s a wait and see period as fans, but this smells of fake news to me. We all remember the limp Fagan had while attending Gil’s get together post QB once he’d cooled down. Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I’ve read Treloar didn’t appear impeded at all when getting scans.

And exactly how will it change the side named for the game against GCS if an announcement is made today as opposed to Wednesday? I just don't get either the urgency or the sense of entitlement.

I think he might be gone for the season. As for the returning players, they will need a minimum of a couple of weeks in the VFL and then another two or three before we can expect them to be anywhere near their best. During that time our season will be decided in a number of big games. I think I will mark June 25th as the day my dreams of a flag turned to ashes. I think it's over.

You take a Wells, Treloar, Moore, Elliott, Goldsack, Aish, Varcoe, Fasolo & Reid equivalents out of any other side in the AFL and what would you think will happen to that team???

That’s 9 potential walk up starts
