I dont normally do it, but just thought id have a read at what those on the other side of the fence are saying. I know you prob dont care, but ill give observations anyway.

1. ive never heard you guys being so negative before. its a friggin showdown, they are always 50/50 no matter where the teams sit on the ladder.
2. lasts nights game you lost by less than 10 points. you were a few lucky bounces and one unlucky non score review from winning. lighten up man, you weren't that bad.
3. i live in brizzy so dont watch too many crows games, but if you have players that are underdone, then they would be crazy to play. Ports game plan atm is to deliberately resist as much pressure as possible in the first half of games, absorbing the other teams energy, then using the elite fitness in the second half when the opposition is tiring. if you guys aren't 100% fit, then it will be a second half rout.
4. as for port supporters gloating and being more interested in crows losing than port winning, i think that's just all teams having a vocal minority. as a whole i dont see a lot of it over there, and i do notice it cos i dont like it. its like the occasional fight at a game which makes the footy a dangerous place for families. minorities always ruin it for the majority
5. lastly, good luck for the game this week. of course i hope we blitz you, but that is to be expected :)

this is a myth, port have accounted for us easily the last 3 and will account for us easily this one also, while being above us on the ladder, the 50/50 bullshit is media drivel.

all nice and that, but a lot of posters are so sick of the school boy errors that we continually make, think of where you were 2 seasons ago... it's depressing
and if we weren't at Adelaide oval we'd need to borrow your tarps...

Correct, the 50/50 thing used to exist in the days of McLeod/Roo/Carr etc..
It was also the days when there was a lot more passion involved which resulted in the whole 'it doesn't matter where they are on the ladder' thing..

But like often happens, it keeps being repeated today when it is long gone..

ill also throw in the umps for last nights game. cant blame them for everything, but ill give them 3 goals for the bombers last night. not direct kicks, but just momentum swingers etc. they hurt.

I'd love to see the selectors stock up in two areas.

The Forward line and the midfield.

Dangerfield is clearly not fit enough to play as a key midfielder, therefore - chuck him at full forward. A forward line of Tex, Dangerfield, Pods, Betts, Cameron and Jenkins hopefully can kick us 16 or 17 goals.

Then, move Smith, Lyons and Crouch Sn into the midfield rotation with Henderson and Lynch playing down back.

My team for the showdown

FF: Betts ~ Dangerfield ~ Cameron
HF: Douglas ~ Walker ~ Jenkins
C: Smith ~ Lyons ~MacKay
HB: Henderson ~Talia ~Lynch
FB: Larid~Rutten ~Brown
Ruck: Jacobs ~Sloan ~Thompson
Interchange: J Pod ~Otten~Kerridge ~Crouch sn(Sub)

In: Cameron, Lynch, Henderson, Crouch sn
Out: Reilly, Martin, Wright, Jeansch

If Dangerfield is one out - he will kick 3 or 4 goals a game. Just simply leading and marking and kicking the goal.
Kerridge to Boak or Hartlett
Laird to Wingard
Talia to shultz and Otten to ****hoff

We need to start trying something different instead of trying the same old same old and this is the game to do it. We don't have anything else to lose. We win, we upset there top stop aspirations, we lose and our season is over.

Time to become the spoiler, instead of the spoliee

true, but the reality is that you guys are the team i want least of all to make the finals. not cos i hate you, just cos the home ground advantage is lost if we play. if i thought you were that shit and incapable, i woulnt care. but fact is that if you guys are switched on, then its game on

I agree I think Danger should sit out the GWS game because he is clearly knackered, but we need him for this one. Chuck him in the forward line for 80% of the match.

If Lynch plays well today bring him straight back in, his gut running will help against port. Brad Crouch also needs to play. People forget how good a player he is. I think Hendo will need another week in the SANFL, and I would love to see Charlie as the supersub but don't think he'll get picked.

Kerridge would have to start in the centre and isn't Hartlett out for a while? I would have BC in the centre before Lyons. Plus are you suggesting dropping Wright who had 26 disposals, Dropping Reilly who was serviceable in defence, and keeping Lyons? I love this Lyons love in. Fantastic for a player to have a fan club based on his SANFL form only.

I really don't know why people quote possession count these days. The ball usage in the modern game has gone to extreme levels with the over usage.

Friday night - Richmond had 4 players with over 30 possessions and a 5th and 6th with 27 plus possession and they lost.

The amount of possessions players get isn't a true indication of how well they have played. All it says is - they were able to get the ball. It doesn't tell you how much hurt factory they had.

I don't care if he got 26 possessions - he has zero hurt factor and doesn't win his position. It's the same as Matthew Jeansch, he gets plenty of it but does **** all with it.

still operated at 92% efficiency which means if he gets it, which he does, he uses it 9.2 times out of every 10 disposals. I suggest he is a very good link man. I would pick him in my side any day over Lyons who does nothing.

Fine - lets keep the same 21. Except we drop Lyons for Crouch. and we then have the same result.

I would accept all your changes accept BC comes in for Lyons.

But that's the point - a different fan boy will not want his fav player dropped so they post some interesting stat that doesn't show any meaning as to why they should stay or go.

Lyons isn't in the best 22. dropping wright who is one of our better players just to give game time to a hapless lyons is pointless.

If Laird is going to tag he needs to be able to handle his man taking him to the goal square or every week his opponent will jog straight to the forward line. Not really a coaching issue he played well except for down back.

I don't mind it but I'd keep Wright and Jaensch. They've been good and that interchange is too tall. I can't find a role/match up for Otten against Port. He'd get run a merry dance against their small forwards.

If Boak takes Laird to the square I would want Reilly to take over. In a one on one over head I think Reilly could hold his own. Other than that Laird takes him anywhere else on the ground.

I would have Otten as the third up tall working into space in front of Westhoff and Schulz.

Jaensch's efficiency is right up there in the afl and is right up there in the afl for rebound 50s.

I actually rate him reasonably highly this year. Maybe others are seeing the 2013 Jaensch still.

He isn't hapless and it isn't pointless. We still don't know his true value or ability ceiling at that level.

Wright has reached his ceiling and we are still losing.

Efficiency is another bullshit stat.

You can have 10 handballs in a quarter and hit the target every single time and only gain 11 metres in total. We don't know.

Then you can have someone have 5 kicks hit the target every tine and make 250 metre in metres gained and it's the same level of efficiency.

It's a non descriptive stat.

So he'd be your loose man instead of Hendo or Smith? If not he has to play on someone and I can't see who.

In order of who I'd want as loose man in defense would be:
1. Hendo allows smith into mid
2. Smith
3. Jaensch
4. Mackay
5. Reilly
6. Pods influencing arial contest
7. Otten

I hate the DE% stat, meaningless for individuals, stating the bleeding obvious as the team average.
