With very little one v one these days, the ability to cover the right options when defending and passing to the right options when attacking (off direct turnover) dictates your success.

We suck horrifically at both.

There were so many holes in the Hawks line up yesterday...

They spread as wide as they can and count on us not having the confidence or system to pick them apart.

A side that had that confidence would have ripped them apart on transition repeatedly yesterday. We did a few times but it wasn't anywhere near enough. Turnovers didn't help obviously.

A school night in the dead of winter so the crowd will be weak, and now we're coming off a belting that netted us some bad injuries, against a notorious flat track bully side at full strength... Not much of a sell. The division between the club and the old players over finger food and AFLW for some negative media buzz, that's the seasoning.

Yesterdays performance has only made that polished turd even worse by deflating another batch of rusted ons that now, understandably, won't make the effort.

It should have been a Geelong game and it should have been a Friday night - not the Pay TV Saturday night slot.

Considering the spate of injuries, and poor form, all of Phillips, Harvey, Maley, Duursma, at least, and maybe even Payne, Banch, CCJ should be in the mix for a game v Bulldogs.
