He seemed to be off a lot more in the 2nd half, so i reckon he's got a niggle and we chose to rest him more because we could. Geelong never really got close, we kept them at bay quite easily. If they scored a goal or 2, we got 1 straight back

So Don used it to rest him for the important one. That's my story and i'm going with it!
Lets just hope its minor and he plays awesome in the gf

Greenwood was looking pretty happy on the bench post game for a bloke who is injured ? Hopefully it was just precautionary and he had a bad game. I agree that we will desperately need him to bring his tackling game for GF. We don't have any other inside mids with enough match sharpness to come in for him, surely Hampton can't come in?

Oh and thanks for putting the stupid Bye conspiracy to bed last night.
Looked to me like Pyke and Co went into player management mode after we locked in Top2, Round 21.
The post-Round 23 bye and the QF-winner-week-off (mandatory for years anyway) became a part of a 6-week plan. Much was said about Tex/Talia/Sloane playing only one game in 5 weeks (or whatever it was) and how one game in nearly 4 weeks would put them off the boil --- but the Crows were steamy last night.

Kb will have a stroke once he finds out their wearing yellow... suck shit
Heard him on sen. Was quite funny, reckons richmond shoiuld pay the fine and wear their traditional guernsey. Needs a lie down. Reckon if richmond want a half decent draw next year they will wear what they are told.

Will Tex and Sloane get looked at?
MRP?
Who knows? It's been so random and inconsistent this year.
I've watched the Sloane crunch about 30 times. I reckon he comes in with both arms raised (R slightly lower than the L), then his R arm drops a little, either (reflexively) because of the Diverflog handball or because (deliberately) he doesn't want to hit PD high. I doubt he'd have has time to process the latter. They have a fair bit of opposite momentum and it's more of a collision than a tackle or hip'n'shoulder.
MRP, nothing to see here, imo. Streepfield lay there like he'd been executed but he's often done that and played on. He should play for Geelong Rangers FC (soccer).

I'm more worried about the Tex hit. Looks deliberate. He continues on half a metre more than he needs to and raises his elbow, but in both cases no free kick. It'd be a coup for the AFL/ MRP if Tex was rubbed out for the GF (and Cotchin not).

A little nervous that Sloaney will get rubbed out, because well, VFL bias. Surely it will be a fine at max? He never takes his eyes off the ball, and it was mainly body on body contact, wasn’t late, and they were both going for the ball. Danger gets up and plays the rest of the game. If he gets rubbed out for that, the Comp is rigged.

Will we stick to our structure or replace Otten with a small?
Good question. Otten was perfect v Geelong as marking is one of their strengths. Richmond are smaller and faster. Are we better with another runner?

I actually don't mind Otten.

Their defense is seriously lacking in quality tall defenders and Otten will make Rance accountable and smack him around just like last time.

Gov would want to be 100% ok to push Otto out. Otto played well in the Prelim.

But as I said last week, Otto does play well first up then fades out into his second and third games.

Would probably have to go Gov and Otto unlucky to miss out.

How many black cats has Otto had grow bus path in his life time. His career has been marred by bad luck.

I'd play an 80% fit Gov over 100% fit Otten as long as we aren't worried about Gov getting reinjured int he first half and keeping us a player down.

The problem with Gov is not that he will be that impaired going in to the game, it is that his hammy could go bang five minutes in.

I suspect they rested Gov due to tightness and slotted in Otto to play his role having confidence Gov will play in the GF. And confidence we would beat Geelong to get into the GF.

The big plus for Gov is that he is a match winner.

Listening to interviews last week it became apparent to me that there was a moment where gov was running and pulled up due to the injury.

If he got through training and then felt sore, or just felt tightness that was gradually building/staying enough to make him want to stop then id have some faith.

Generally if it is a sudden thing that goes while striding out then missing 1 is highly optimistic.

I would assume that McGovern will get hammered with testing this week. If he passes, he plays. Surely.

yep. id expect he will need to do full training on what ill assume is the wednesday as well as another full intensity work out.

The good thing is with the GPS data they have figures on players top speeds, acceleration etc both in isolation and throughout training sessions/games.

They will no doubt be looking closely at that data from trainings to make sure he is hitting top speed and doing it with repeated efforts.

Completely removes the ? over if the player is genuinely letting loose or holding back that 5% to be safe (sometimes without even being truly aware)

From my experience that is generally the reason why people then redo the hammy as then under fatigue or game situation where they just have to go for even that 1 or 2 steps at extra exertion then its not up to it.

Also the stats for hamstring rein jury generally isn't 1st game back, its 2nd/3rd. If Gov is hitting his GPS peaks this will also help them in taking the risk

A few thoughts on the team...

Running power on the g is huge. This is a big reason why richmond with their smaller lineup has worked.
Martin has to be tagged and tagged hard. He is the one player on their team that can win them the game.
Knight if he plays forward needs to play a defensive role on either ellis or houli.
Walker is due for a big game. Time to dismantle the richmond backline.
