wood struggled last weekend playing forward but dominated on the wing. So not necessarily he comes in for black and remember its only a 5 day turnaround for him
Fair enough. Would like to see him get a go. If it's on a wing, so be it. Black has been putrid

Surely it is the outs that make the statement?

It is only half of it.

Bringing in revolving door players, players we bring in to drop, is useless and means nothing. Sam has had quite a few cracks at it this year. Had cracks at it last year.

I don't see it as meaningful to drop a player who can then think that the player brought in for them is just keeping their spot warm.

Out: Bastinac, McKenzie, Jacobs, Adams (sorry Patch), Brown
In: I don't know......Dumont, Harper etc anyone else, we can't accept this!

Would be happy with all those outs - Jacobs a little stiff - his 13 touches in a quarter and a half will see him play this Friday night.

Gotta put it into context, he had no impact that won us the game and got most of those touches when every other player on the ground was as good as 'spent'.

I don't think Scott will be as ruthless as he advised.
This is the order of most likely to be dropped I think:
1. Warren
2. Bastinac
3. McKenzie
4. Adams
5. Brown
6. Black
7. Jacobs
8. McDonald
9. Goldstein
10. Mullet

Only a third of these will be pulled out.

Goldstein is no chance of being dropped. With Currie injured and Daw being charged who would ruck?

But you'd advocate all 10 be dropped?!

I'd be happy if the top 5 you have listed were dropped.

Hansen, Anthony, Wood, Dumont and Turner (sub) to replace.

Might need to name Hansen then drop him just before the game too to really make a statement.

Yeah Brad really made a statement resting (his own words) Hansen, worked a treat didn't it:rolleyes:

I'd argue that Warren deserve another game, given that he seemed to stop Mayes from having much influence.

At some point, Brad needs to make the statement, that mediocrity and especially mediocre effort, is no longer acceptable. One or two heads need to roll. Our injuries are certainly an issue (and I'd argue that our Medical staff need to be reviewed at season's end); even though we're playing Hawthorn, I'd happily accept one or two inexperienced players if they could be guaranteed to have a red hot go. Perhaps their actions might shame some of our more experienced players to do the same.

If we were playing anyone else some serious changes may be made... But to debut two blokes like a lot are calling for (Dumont and Wood) or Harper who hasn't played a senior game in two years, they would all be well off the pace and take a quarter to adjust and would blow up at 3/4 time. One would be sub, one subbed out so one would have to play a full game. Harper, being most experienced out of the three, would play the full game and probably get the same output as McKenzie last week, 4 touches and a handful of tackles.

Swinging the axe at selection only works if blokes can come in and fill the void. Wright, Hansen will be in, with one of the above three coming in, probably Dumont as sub.

Who goes out? On output should be Bastinac, Black and Mckenzie, with a lot of blokes lucky to stay in. But in reality will probably me Brown, Warren, McKenzie

FB: Lachie Hansen, Scott Thompson, Luke McDonald
HB: Shaun Atley, Michael Firrito, Liam Anthony
C: Nick Dal Santo, Ben Jacobs, Levi Greenwood
HF: Brent Harvey, Aaron Black, Aaron Mullett
FF: Lindsay Thomas, Drew Petrie, Ben Brown
R: Todd Goldstein, Andrew Swallow, Ben Cunnington
I/C: Sam Gibson, Kieran Harper, Brad McKenzie
SUB: Leigh Adams

OUT: Bastinac, Warren, Ziebell (rest/inj)
IN: Harper, Anthony, Hansen

Brown survives another week. Shouldn't have played last week with wet weather forecast. See how he goes under the roof on a fast track. Match-ups could go:

Petrie - Lake
Black - Schoenmakers
Brown - Spangher
Thomas - Stratton
Harvey - Duryea/Shiels

Harper comes back in and avoids the subs vest. Adams has been decent in his two games as sub this year, so this is his last chance before he goes back to the twos. Gibson on thin ice but survives given extreme lack of depth at the moment. Anthony back in to rack the pill up and also play a negating role on someone like Bradley Hill. Ziebell given a rest due to his sore knee/poor form. Hansen back in. Backline has a huge job coming up, having a fit Grima would be ideal.

Thompson - Roughead
Firrito - Gunston
Hansen - Hale
Atley/McDonald - Breust

Breust is the one to stop. Having no Cyril helps a lot but I rate Breust higher. Sublime player.

You'd expect the Hawks to stick with Ceglar in the ruck, and surely you'd expect Goldstein to have the advantage over him, but we thought that with Stef Martin..
