Who's going to be the sub? Hope McKenzie gets a full game and Wright gets the vest. Even though I don't think he is suited to the role, Gibson and Jacobs are even less suitable candidates.

As bad as Wright's been this year, he will get sent straight to Goddard has done very well on him in the past.

Probably out of B-Mac or Gibbo atm, but i have a strong feeling there will be one or two more changes so if there is a late change they will most likely be sub.

Hope wright or Macmillan is the sub

Our use of the sub has been terrible this year, they usually just give it to the least experienced player, hopefully they have changed their thinking

Gibbo as a sub is the biggest waste of time. I think it cost us dearly against Carlton. He's one of the best gut runners in the game at the moment. Always provides an option.

Not sure who I'd go with. I'd like to see McKenzie get a full game, so probably Jmac

In a year of utterly baffling selection choices, this one takes the cake.

I would be quite happy for them to come out and say.

"no debutant will be played as sub ever again"

Putting him in the game at the point they did was a mistake.

Don't get your hopes up. I'd say McKenzie is about an 80% chance of being sub on Saturday

Agree. If the sub comes from the listed bench then IMO he is the only option for it. Delaney, Jacobs and Wright are less suited.

Suprised they have selected both Delaney and Grima. Happy for Keys though, didn't deserve to be dropped.

Not confident about this game, was more confident last week, maybe the absence of Swallow is starting to bite? If Jack goes out then the engine room will be going from a V8 to to a 4 cylinder. The *bombres should be ripe for the picking given the mental challenges they face off field and their recent form plus some serious outs and a couple of inexperienced in's. I suppose it depends which North Melbourne turns up, if it is the same team as last week the *don's will flog us, if it the team from the week before we should win by 6+ goals i am

Grima, Thompson, Hansen, Delaney all in one backline. What are these matchups going to be?

Terrible selection once again....how can they drop Garner, give the f**king boy a chance ffs, they have made a mockery out of his debut....Hine was ordinary but he had been ok in other games. You cant have Thompson, Delaney, Grima, Hansen all in the same team, what is going on down thereo_O

Said it already we play an extra in defence 7 players one loose like we have many times this year nothing new
Thompson-crameri
Delaney-Carlisle who has been playing forward recently
Grima-daniher

Hansen loose man in defence

I don't really understand the treatment of Goldstein on this board. Last week I thought he was a major reason why you guys beat Geelong yet the week after everyone wants him dropped traded/again. It's not like he was the only poor player for you guys today.

I think people get frustrated because of the direct correlation for our results when this guy plays well. Like others l would prefer him to get more possessions & he has a penchant to clutch for the ball and fumble to often. l personally would prefer to see him play like Cox used to by contesting the ruck and just run away 20 metres rather than hovering above players lying on the ground waiting for the ball to come out.

No one runs to cover the ruckman in that situation & he is more likely to gain confidence from his early possessions.

True dat. Be like taking Mitchell and Sewell/Hodge out of the Hawks line up. Or Selwood/Bartel from the Cats line up. Huge outs. Further highlights how good the win over the Cats was without Spitta.

I really hope we rest Ziebell. He's had hits to his knees the last five weeks, there is no point in risking him and causing a long term injury. Same goes with whoever else is injured.

yep Brad said in his presser, Ziebell will have until match day to prove his fitness. I doubt he will play.

As usual:rolleyes:

Don't understand the issues re: Garner's debut.

The plan was to send McKenzie back to the VFL to get a full match, then come back in. Someone had to take his place as the sub for the week, so they gave it to Garner. Garner would have known it was unlikely he'd get a gig this week.

You can get all emotional about the fact that it amounted to a crappy way to debut, but football is serious business. You get what you get and be grateful for it.

BTW Garner made some sense as a sub. He has had an uncanny knack this year of delivering clutch performances at the death. If he hadn't fumbled...well, we'd be talking about it differently and probably bitching that he shouldn't have been dropped after showing something.

The more interesting move is dropping Hine for Grima. Understand dropping Hine, but geez Narni makes us tall back there. Is there any chance of Brad pushing him forward for his maiden goal? :)

Maybe there will b a couple of late changes. Ziebel has to be in some doubt and maybe a tall goes out? Then Greenwood and Garner in? Please not Firrito!!!

With Thompson able to play small and tall and Hansen likewise whilst dropping off, I don't see an issue with the named team compared to the opposition forward line.

Taylor Garner's debut was a joke.

I don't disagree, but the way the third quarter unfolded if you put him on in the first few minutes of the last & we lost
well.......Why would you make a change after we dominated all the last Qtr

In the end the game was always in the balance in the last Qtr & there was never a good time.

BUT THEN TO DROP HIM
(part of me wonders if he will come in for Ziebs)

There wasn't but if there is no good time to put him on have the balls not to.

I have formed the opinion that starting a debutant as a sub is the wrong thing to do, either they can run out 3/4 and get a gig or they can't and shouldn't be selected.

We made an error and I think the reasoning behind it needs to be reviewed.

Garner will come in for Delaney and Jacobs will sub.
Wright to go to Goddard again.
Greenwood for Ziebell if he doesn't come up.
I don't know what all the whinging is about.

Jacobs He'll never be ready, ain't up to it, delist! Give Jizzberts 1 or 2 games to see if we want to keep him also.

im not a fan of his at all and then l watched the Sunday channel 9 footy show he was on the handball at the end.
I don't know if anyone else saw it but he got a total of 58 comprising 4x7s & 6x5s it was deplorable. Now this alone is not a measure of a footballer but with everything else l have seen from him it adds up to not gonna make it.
I think we had a miss last year by drafting both him & Gysberts at least Hine goes in. I have no interest in us drafting players who are not even best 22 players. All 3 mentioned were outside best 22 for the bottom 3 teams last year. Not many nuggets to be found doing that.
