put Smith down there to at least attempt to compete aierally. If we try and replace JVR with another tall and we keep McDonald we deserve to go out in straight sets (again)

I agree with Goody. With Brayshaw out that only leaves Oliver, Viney Sparrow, Jordan and Harmes as well as Rivers and Pickett as inside mid/ change up options. With noted goalkickers T Mac, Brown, Schache, Smith, Gawn, ANB and Spargo as forward options we should have enough firepower to win expected score this week. Trac needs to play midfield.

Yes for Schache. Need a forward ruck with JVR missing and ive got zero interest in playing Grundy.

I would’ve thought the question was: “Is there anyone who isn’t for dropping TMac, even with JVR out?”

We can’t play him again, surely. I’d rather stick a scarecrow in a Demons jumper 45m out from goal. At least it’ll look like it’s presenting for the ball occasionally.

was thinking this as a very outside option, Gawn would be better than Grundy up forward (not that Gawn would be a good option per se), and Grundy would probably play quite well as the number 1 ruck

I'd probably do that ahead of just putting in Grundy as a forward or bringing pointless Schache in though

but im in the begrudgingly keep Tmac camp because i think Grundy and Schache are both worse options (though probably marginal between the 3 of them really)

Because when we have the chance to delist these guys we instead sign them up for another year or two on the grounds they’ll be good “depth”.

Then we get to a point where we need our depth and we look in the cupboard and say “wtf this isn’t depth this is three of the worst tall forward options in the league”.

It's nightmare stuff, our best tall forward this year was JVR who has only played 20 odd games. Petty looked the goods at times, unfortunately by the time Goodwin got to figuring that out, he got injured 1.5 games later anyway. Brown, Tmac both cooked. Schache is a back up of a back up. Grundy's not a forward.

The root of the problem started when Hogan fell apart and went home (he would be in his prime now) and Weideman never came on (would also be in his prime now). If just one of those two came on we would be a lot better position.

I was at the game too, He just looked so so so so so slow.

but beyond just the inside 50 entries, when they would kick it to him on the lead coming out of D50, he just was so slow to get to it and would easily get spoiled

Also I know everyone else was missing , but that set shot he missed from 30 out slight angle was just unforgivable at that point in the game.

Then again , Collingwood flooded the absolute **** out of their backline so it wouldve been hard for any tall forward, especially the way we were kicking it in

At least if JVR is out, TMac can sit in the square and try to bring the ball to ground. But ironically, I'd actually rather BBB doing that.

This is going to sound weird but even if we did manage to fluke the flag this year playing this boring style of footy, strangling out a few 65 - 58 style wins, it’d be hard to actually get excited about it. I’d be like “oh great but that fk that’s over.”

I’d actually prefer a side that plays footy the proper way to win it.
