So Tex and in along with Knarlin Ned after protocol concussion checks ticked off
“ROB’s our man”
Can’t see any hint of ruck changes for a while
O’Connor may be an out - his debut in the west was just that
A shame because guys should play a block of games
Van Berlo cagey about it when asked..reading between the lines it seems he will almost certainly be an out which is a real shame

It's a huge shame - but someone needs to make way for McHenry's return, and that someone was always going to come from the midfield/small forwards group, none of whom really deserve to be dropped. I would much rather see ROC given a second consecutive game, but I don't see many other alternatives.

He mentioned 1st year players getting a rest, so i took that as maybe Berry making way.

Who knows, might be both of them making way and Hately/McHenry coming in.

ADELAIDE CROWS v MELBOURNE (John Meesen Cup)

Saturday May 22, 4.35pm at Adelaide Oval

How to watch on Fox Footy: Channel 504 from 4.30pm, with Anthony Hudson, Jason Dunstall, Garry Lyon and Mark Ricciuto.

Crows’ burning question: Can Reilly O’Brien rediscover his best?

It’s a pretty simple equation for the Crows: If O’Brien wins the hit-out count, they win and if he doesn’t, they lose. That’s been the case in all bar one of the side’s results (three-point loss to Hawthorn in Round 6). Adelaide assistant coach Matthew Clarke said earlier this month O’Brien had been a bit underdone and was managing an injury, but he has looked well off his best in recent weeks — and it has coincided with the Crows’ five-match losing streak. Scott Lycett and Nic Naitanui have lowered his colours in the past fortnight and now he comes up against another top-four fancy in Melbourne and the Max Gawn-Luke Jackson tag team. If the Crows are to be any chance of winning, O’Brien needs to rediscover his best form.

Demons’ burning question: How does Simon Goodwin fit them all in?

Young tall Luke Jackson is set to return to the Melbourne side in Round 10 after a broken finger kept him out of action against the Blues, leaving the club with another selection headache. Goodwin praised the work of Sam Weideman in the ruck, after he was brought in for his first match of the season, with the key forward only featuring once in 2021. Ben Brown and Tom McDonald are seemingly working well together, while Bayley Fritsch is having a breakout year close to goal. It’s going to be a mighty tough call for Goodwin, who could hold off bringing Jackson into the team. Another option would be to play them all with the running abilities of their talls allowing for them to play extended periods up the ground and still provide some run. With Adelaide seemingly on the decline, it’s a risk Goodwin may just take.

Fox Footy experts’ verdict: Adelaide Crows 0 — Melbourne 11

It's funny because we are on a 5 game losing streak and playing poorly, yet I tend to agree with you!
Mainly because it's the young guys we need to get games in to that the guys on the edge of selection.

Crows playing an injured player who can't perform because of the injury?

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!

Are we really playing that poorly though?

Apart from 15 minute or so periods in a quarter when teams have got hold of us we've more generally been quite competitive without looking like we were going like winners. Not too bad when you consider the game experience we've been giving away every week.

Maybe I'm a glass half full kind of guy but I hardly see our form as dire with the exception of a couple of players that are clearly not performing at their premium.

I would say that apart from 20 minutes against North we have been very ordinary.
Fremantle - poor
Hawthorn - poor
GWS - Really poor
Port - Poor. We kept it close by trying to smother the contest, but had zero chance of winning
WC - tried hard. Our best performance of this run.

Obviously your expectations are greater than mine with such a young inexperienced team we're putting out there every week, not to mention the ecperienced players we're missing with long term injuries.....and considering we lobbed our 1st wooden spoon last year?

Murray is still streets ahead of McAsey in the pecking order. I imagine he’ll be the one coming in if we go down the extra KPD path.
Murray/Worrell/McAsey

Don't care who.

But the one KPD structure fails against most sides.

We played pretty well against the Eagles. We were destroyed in the ruck and suffered from selection blunders in our backline, but we had a crack and didn't throw the towel in. The kids showed a fair bit too.

The showdown and GWS games were back to our 2020 levels though. Zero positives to come out of either game.

No arguments, we were very poor against GWS, and poor for most of the Port match. Otherwise, very competitive in our 7 other games. A lot better than I expected in 2021.

I thought we were good against Freo except for one period in the 3rd and then good against the Hawks in the first half. I agree with you about GWS and Port.

I'm assuming (hoping) that he makes way for a tall defender - Worrell/McAsey/Murray. Can't drop him twice.
my changes this week - out McKay / Frampton
In - Walker, McHenry

If we are going for a taller defender, then Kelly has a rest and Murray or McAsey comes in so Butts and Murray/McAsey are the 2 key talls with Doedee taking on the 3rd tall / intercept role
