I'm about 90% happy with the changes this week.

Pedlar debut was a surprise. I thought it might come later in the season, once he had built more match fitness. Happy that they are giving him a crack though. Hoping he gets more than one game.

Frampton in over Fog I also understand. Bottom line is Fog is offering very, very little. Frampton has worked hard and played well every time he has gone back to SANFL. Is he actually an AFL level player? Probably not, but Fog hasn't earnt his position.

Hamill is a bit unlucky, but also hasn't been in great form. Somewhat understandable. Almost defensible if it wasn't for the ongoing selection of Mackay. Mackay was utterly putrid on the weekend with everything he touched turning to crap. How we can keep picking him is beyond me.

Murray in is a no brainer. Especially with Brisbane's talls. Would be nice for the bloke to have some continuity though.

McAdam out is long overdue. Just not doing enough of anything. Now lets leave him in the SANFL until he actually deserves to be promoted through form.

i love how a few people here run with this “sure, keays hasnt got a right leg” as if to insinuate he’s got a great left leg...

in reality his left leg is terrible as well.. there is nothing outrageous in pointing out that Keays is a poor deliverer of the football.

its a real pity because he’s really bloody good at nearly everything else... but I suspect that if his kicking game was as good as the rest of his game.. Brisbane would never have delisted him.
Keays biggest issue is his refusal to give the first handball. Instead he tries to run out of the contest. It leaves players out of position and results in a turn over. If we could teach him how to give the first option, that would make a massive difference.

It’s crazy - we all know Sloane has a huge heart and is gutsy to a fault.

Which is why a coach or footy ops manager should’ve made this call - there is no benefit.

There's 4 points on offer this weekend, our club never looks any further down the track than that.

When are we going to get ****ing serious about the REBUILD?

Only 9 debutants in 16 games. What about playing the ****ing KIDS!

How many senior players aren't playing this week. Bog average Mackay? Tick. Injured Sloane and Brown? Tick. There's no rebuild, it's done. Our total goal is no further distant than this weekend's 4 points. Midfield trio locked in for the next 3-4, plus Crouch if he signs. Will be striving for the bottom part of the 8 next year with the oldest side available and junior midfielders getting as few minutes as humanly possible.

Not bad changes, really happy to see Pedlar come in. Fogarty and McAdam have been useless the last few weeks so I'm ok with them dropping out. Didn't think Hamil had been as bad as others so a bit disappointed to see him drop out.

Although I don't think Frampton has a long term future in the AFL, I'm ok with him being rewarded for his strong SANFL form, it doesn't send a great message to leave him in the 2s when he is in good form and you have 2 guys in the AFL side stinking it up. So happy to see him get rewarded for that. Hopefully it is only a temporary swap and we see Fog come back in to the side after a couple of weeks and start to get involved more.

Sloane, Mackay and Brown have been stinking it up, so the message is that 2s form is only rewarded when there's an inexperienced player to drop. And we wonder why our club hasn't won a flag in over 20 years. With Billy, I wonder if Thilthorpe is running out of gas and they want to eliminate his rucking minutes.

How does that even work?

He gets special powers in the event of a state emergency and then vetoes their recommendations because he thinks there's no emergency?

Circular bureaucracy at it's best.

No, he has the power and just told the idiot bed wetters to GAGF. Nothing circular about that at all.

thats the problem. keays and laird are our midfield. we have the worst midfield in the league by far.

don't forget the guy that gets it 20 times 8 out of 10 games who will play out the year, regardless of output, with a busted finger. In a bottom 6 year mind you.

Nah, mate, and you're making even less sense. If you're going to make outrageous claims, at least provide some evidence to back them up? Laird is our current AFLCA Votes' leader (12th in the Comp).
I've conceded Keays has no R kick, which is a flaw that totally baffles me, because it's fixable. If I was picking the side, Keays and Laird would be among the first selected, in fact not even under discussion. Not just best-22 but Top 10.
We're gonna have to agree to disagree on this.

The bit you highlighted was about the quality of our midfield relative the the other 17 sides. Not who is first picked among our 22 selected each week. Our midfield is crap, 2 accumulators but average decision makers and users by foot and one guy that can only get it about 20 times despite all his minutes being spent hunting possessions. This group might be the best we have for being as competitive as possible right now, but we desperately need some class to replace lots of their minutes. It won't happen because we don't look to the future, but it needs to. To the point, I can't think of a worse midfield in the comp, can you?

Keays to me is a slightly better version of Brad Symes.

He will be fine for a few years rebuilding and if he can tidy up his disposal he will still have a spot after the rebuild.

the rebuild is complete. We don't make selection or strategy decisions that would potentially reduce this week's output. This is our 22 plus any experienced guys that return from injury. The only way Keays loses midfield minutes is if Crouch returns from injury.

My only gripe here is that Murray comes in, instead of Worrell, who was excellent in the SANFL last week.

Fog deserved to go out for junk performances the last few weeks.

And McAdam has been a passenger for some time.

Agree, or even McAsey instead of Murray.

I'm bemused as to why McAsey was given so many games last year but hasn't had one this year.....do we put it down to not having SANFL last year for him to develop so better to have him playing AFL than not at all?

Fog clearly has a higher ceiling than Billy, but I don't think he can just keep holding his place in the team without performing. Only senior players have that luxury.

The big question I need an answer for is this:

At what point does your games played tip you over in to the 'much needed experience' column at Adelaide? How many games do you need to have under your belt so that form plays no role in your selection? Is it 100 games? 150? What is the tipping point?

Yeah i mean he actually looked better last year than he has this year. He had his collapse during preseason, the near death of his dad last year, and he doesn't really seem to have hit the weights or come on as physically as he could have IMO. I think he's maybe had a poor preason due to off field stuff and maybe the realities of AFL preparation and development are only starting to hit home.

We'll certainly get a better idea next year i think.

What's interesting is that Murray is, from my understanding, unsigned ahead of the 2022 season, and yet he's getting more games in front of Worrell and McAsey who are contracted for 2 more years.

Are we putting him in the shop window, or?

I wasn't aware of McAsey collapsing. Maybe they are just biding time with him. I guess if they are open with him about it then I can understand it. We really need a significant improvement from him next year.

....and Murray was only signed on the eve of the season!

I get we need some KPD depth especially with the unknown of Talia's contract status, but haven't seen much from Murray, even if his exposure has been limited.

Going back to the Frampton well is hilarious

Some slow learners down there at West Lakes
Fogarty's dismal form had to be dealt with. Selecting Billy definitely smacks of rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, but it was something that had to happen.

However, expect him to run out of steam if his TOG is more than 70%.

Frampton: no. I'm with Scorpus. Frampton is good SANFL player, not an AFL player's sprig. I'll be (very) happy to be proved wrong, but he will drop marks, miss easy kicks for goal (if he has any) and spud it up in general. My best guess is that it's more about waking Fogarty up than anything else. Hope it works!
Murray? Not sure. It was him or Worrell, wasn't it?
For the future of the team I'd have retained Hamill, dropped Mackay, but who knows what the Selectors know and see?
On Hamill vs DMac.

I'd have dropped both. DMac we know, but Hamill just isn't doing anywhere near enough. Kid has plenty of talent but for whatever reason he's not showing it currently.

Confident he'll be right but a couple weeks in the 2 won't hurt.

And yeah it's absolutely about waking Fogarty up.

Pick 2 is still on the radar!

Definitely is. We have to run through the all of the top 4 still this season, and I doubt we'll be afforded the luxury of being treated lightly, after all, we've rolled two of them.

Would probably take us dropping the Hawks (and potentially North game) though. Still worse comes, a 7 win season should net us a top 5 pick.
