That Mackay isnt a required player for 2021?

Its becoming obvious that mackay is a required player and will probably be given another contract for next season.

And a few here seem to brush this off with a “it ok, he’s not gonna play anywhere other than in the SANFL side”..

Of course this is completely ignorant to the fact that we said the exact same thing when mackay was re-signed at the end of 2018, then he missed nearly all the 2018-19 preseason and was picked in the starting 22 for round 1 2019.

Then end of 2019 he was given another year and everybody brushed it off with “oh, he wont be playing anything but SANFL footy next season”.. how many games is it that has he now played in 2020?.. anyone?...

Now here we are at the end of 2020 and mackay is likely to get yet another contract extention..

And people are still pushing this “oh, but he wont play anything but SANFL next season” horseshit!..

Please forgive me for not buying into everyone’s optimism on this!.

If this were a normal year I'd have little doubt he'd have played half as many games this year. I think he's played 9 ??

I'm not certain he's gone, but given he's OOC and we will look to turn the list over a fair bit again if doubt he survives. We've got a guy like Milera and probably Hamill to slot back in, and Doedee too.

As an SANFL captain I'm happy for him to stay.... If that's what happens

Not questioning his committment for contest or whatever but is a prime example of our self preservation culture and playing a position easily filled by developing players but instead are shunted to a HF flank.

I just wish our senior players were a bit more like Pods who actually put his hand down for selection as he could read the room. We would of kept playing him to the bitter end but Pods stood aside.

It is Adelaide, you cant say that with any certainty. If Mackay is gone why hasnt he retired and we give him a big show for his last game? He would have been told by now surely and he is not naive enough to think he is in demand from another club.

I would argue that list changes haven't been settled on is a key reason as to why. After all, he could certainly be in the dreadful situation of being here or not in 2021 could hinge on what the AFLPA agrees on with the AFL.

If so, a cruelly ironic ending for someone who has certainly a good claim for being the luckiest footballer to play for this club.

Not sure why Kelly is a lock every week. Missed opportunity to give Worrell a game. Hamill should be playing instead of mackay but a smart decision to not risk another concussion in a short period. Just needs to focus on adding some size over summer.

Guys like Sholl, Butts, Hamill, Doedee etc have mentioned plenty of names who've helped them through the early days down back. None of them said anything about Mackay. It's always Talia, Hartigan, Kelly and even Gibbs who get talked about.

Neil Balme may cost an assistant coach may be the differance between getting a top level Assistance or an afforadable assitance could even add a development coach, maybe fitness personnel, that is my concern. definatly an analysis, The soft Cap been reduce by 3 mill,

We don't have a single employee who has experience in what seats are required, let alone what people should go into them and how much $ should be spent on the seats. Balme can set that up for us. It's a long term investment.
