Most disappointed that Schoey was dumped as he seemed to be the cleanest of our mids when he came on last week. Should've been Sholl. Murphy was next to useless too in the small / midget forward role...IMO they'd get more out of him in the midfield rotations instead of Sloane. McAdam in is good, as he can at least mark a ball over his head. Who do we assign to Toby Greene? Hinge or Worrell possibly.

Hasn’t that already been dispelled?

Someone posted earlier there are 5-6 changes from our round 1 team to our current team

Himmelberg
Schoey
Berry
Brown
Doedee (injury)

Macadam just back in

So two clear mistakes in selection, 2 from disappointing form and 2 from injury have changed for most of the season

So compared to our round 1 side, we've had one forced change, we've swapped the sub, and there's been three other unforced changes.

After 17 rounds, where we currently sit 9th

Two of those unforced changes were bringing Murphy and Sholl into the side. Two of the three were also on the round 1 emergency list (Thilthorpe and Murphy)

That's basically exactly what I've been saying! We chose the side before round 1 and have kept it for the vast majority of the season so far

(I also just looked and we swapped Soligo with Jones vs round 1)

I am pessimistic by nature, but after being at the game last week I reckon GWS win this easily. Essendon exploited our lack of midfield / ruck to score quick goals out of the centre bounce...GWS arguably has a far better midfield than the Dons, play well at Adelaide Oval, and have ample momentum. Annoying part is that we will slip to what, 12th, with a loss this week?

Compared to the fielded R1 side, we have both H'Berg and S'Berg, Berry, Soligo, Brown and Doedee out.

H'Berg and Brown out - tick, Doedee injured. Soligo a conditional tick - if he does indeed need a rest.

TT, Murphy, McHenry, Jones, Worrell and Sholl in.

TT, Jones and Worrell in - tick. Not sure about the rest.

Not that big of an out.

In round 1 - Green only had 37 touches, 1 goal, 500+ metres gained, 6 marks and 12 score involvements. Not to mention he was the leading centre clearance player on the ground and the same amount as Berry, Laird, Keays and Schoenberg combined.

Someone tell Nicks there is no need for specialist tagger Brown this week.

And Port over there can still find it to make 3 unforced changes along with 3 forced changes too.
The difference is they expect to go deep into Finals, managing players. Using the Carlton game as a rest stop. Win is a bonus

We are going all out to make the 8.

But we are doing it wrong.

Guys like Scholl/Murohy/Mchenry/Sloane last week are why we lost last week.

Yet the club thinks we need to play most of these guys to win and make the 8.

I would argue swap out
Murphy for McAdam
Schoenberg for Sloane
Nank for Scholl

with McHenry the sub we win last week.

Max on Toby.

Crows contending for a flag - play as few players as possible.
Crows rebuilding - play as few players as possible.
Crows middle of the road - play as few players as possible.

It amazes me that the club has seemingly chosen to ignore how other sides, premiership winning sides, manage their players throughout a season. This is a decades long issue.

Worst example, that cost us a flag goes back to Craigy with the dead rubber of round 22 2005. This club loves treating all games as if they have an equal level of importance, just like they seem to love treating all opposition as being equal when judging our own players performance.

They will lose their next 4 games.

They have rested made a lot of changes. I can see them dropping this

At home but against a very good Collingwood side

Showdowns are always 50/50

Geelong in Geelong is another tough one.

They will lose their next 4 games.
Not so sure, Port have won more flags than us in July/August.

Kenny closing in on yet another contract extension.

Its September where they trip up.

All jokes aside, if they drop their next 4 they will lose Top 2, it will place them on a collision course of Lions at the GABBA in W1, then most likely Pies in W3 at the G. Their flag aspirations rest arguably in the next 4 games.

Had Rankine kicked straight and not missed so many sodas, we would have won that game.

Kicking 2.5 killed us.

WTF? How are Carlton favourites over Port at any venue?
Sure they got on a roll of 3 wins, but that was Gold Coast, Hawthorn and Fremantle. Add West Coast to get their list of 4 wins in the past 12 matches.
Port have made 7 changes to their team, 4 of them forced.

The old fantasy team conundrum.

I say trade in Pedlar.
Held Pedlar since R1. Traded Hinge back in this week. He was also in my R1 team, but I thought his break even had topped out after 8 games, so traded him out in R9 only to watch him score 91. Seems to be scoring well since the bye - 83/119/94.
Turns out the red dot (DNP) next to the Green man dressed in orange will also get the orange dot (Captain) to loophole the blue dot (Vice captain) on Bont's 142.
(Apologies for the jargon to those who don't play Fantasy...)
