I can just imagine the team meeting this week.

Pyke: "Keath is being rested this week, he's a bit banged up"

Entire SANFL backline of young talent: *sits up straight*

Pyke: "and we're bringing in..."

SANFL talent: (whispers) "this is finally my chance!"

Pyke: "Andy Otten!"

SANFL talent: 😄

He is actually a very good tackler (and when he tackles he means it!!!), I think he is just getting more confidence in his body (he was out for the entire year last year) so he can get to more contest to tackle.

People need to stop making those excuses for him, they're not a legitimate defence. And the only kind of tackling he ever does is on someone already in reach, never even attempts the chase.

I have on occasion seen a few efforts where he didn't run two way (loves running towards goal) ... Far far away from being the worst in the team or having a golden ticket.

It's not about absolute worst, it's about sending a selection message to players who consistently, substantially under-perform compared to their reputation and pay packet. Walker very much deserves the same.

That's my point, he loves to tackle but can't get to enough contest, either physically (which is what I think) or mentally (which is what you think). Both can be fixed.

Those following the SANFL suggest otherwise.
Please enlighten me? Not many youngsters knocking on the door. Im not talking about our 2018 draft crop. Wheres the years prior? Not much coming through and our 22 barely looks different year on year. We are forced to play the regulars as no one is demanding their spot.

It is genuinely mistifying how Mackay is still there

I assume they sat around the table wondering how they could try to convince us they were serious and figured they'd drop Betts.

Otten is completely understandable, but we really really lack courage at the selection table.

We really lack courage at the club.

I feel like us dropping Betts is us going "look guys, we're doing things!" to our angry supporters without actually addressing any of the real issues with the side.

The sort of shock "accountability" that keeps the media at bay too

3/4 piss weak losses in a month, in the exact same manner and we stick with these losers. Oh they'll respond after the Showdown they said, lucky we played Gold Coast. Atkins BOG against no one, right back to form against an actual opposition. **** these idiots working at the club, they have no idea.

There is no plan, no goal, no nothing, just pick a side and go out and do it the Crows way, throw numbers at the contest, no nuance, no strategy, no tagging. Picking a side as old as this, not playing young players while not contending, thinking they are still in it when they are 9-8 and completely misreading wider trends in the AFL. Dumb, blunt, and conservative.

Some were early in the season with the form of McHenry, Sholl and Butts but weren't selected (hence our angst here), all look very good, but I back our development team given how Doedee (after 2 years on the list) and O'Brien (after 4 years on the list) looked when they started to play regularly in the AFL. Gallucci was very unlucky to get dropped, he had limited possession in his game but they were high impact and I can't see a spot for Fogarty in the current forward line (but his form has been crap in the SANFL), we played Stengle and Himmelberg who both look good.

Yeah, they haven't got contracts becuase the club hasn't given them one. Not the other way round.

Both players have publicly said they want to stay.

I'm not sure why people need to find absolute negative in everything crows related at the moment.

We fielded our oldest side since 2006 on the weekend and got hammered - we have added Otten to this team, Stengle is the new yoyo man (why not give him 3 weeks in a row)

Yep, everything is going swimmingly.

Some of you blokes could be that Iraqi information minister, "nothing to see here".

Imagine trying to get midfield minutes in the 2’s.

Will be great watching Gibbs, Douglas and Greenwood play 99% midfield time on the weekend while Jones and Gallucci dig some graves

Betts and Greenwood deserved to be dropped, and I don’t think anyone can begrudge Wilson getting a go. He’s earnt it. The unfortunate issue we had last weekend was that the SANFL team stunk it up as much as the AFL team leaving the selectors with not much to reward.

So youve mentioned majority of our draftees of 2018. The cupboards bare otherwise of what we had b4 them. Gallucci looking like being a flog imo. Macpherson looking a bust. Fog has stagnated. My point being we havent developed much talent the past 3 to 4 years knocking out the likes of Mackay, which is reflected in us playing one of the oldest sides in the league.
