If Lycett can play, he plays. We are in no sort of position or form to be resting players with niggles just because.
Mate we are legit top playing 3rd bottom

I understand the form line is poo but this is the time to rest him and give a debutant Ruckman a go against an AFL level oppenent (checks notes)

By golly it's Sinclair, perfect type of Ruckman for a debutant

Tiser reporting Burton & Marshall fit but Lycett under an injury cloud.

Scott Lycett is fast becoming a concern. He seems to be a week to week proposition. When you look at his playing history he has not completed many full seasons. Lycett has played 102 games in almost 10 seasons. Time to look closely at Sam Hayes.

We need our players right come finals if we are going to be any chance, if Lycett is the difference between wining and losing against Sydney then we are going to be embarrassed come finals.

Apparently knee was knocked again during game

Yeh was mentioned during the game.

I'm pissed about the SPP one, pure trial by commentary by someone with a vested interest in St Kilda.
Absolute bullshit.

Note that the AFL website's version cut off Anthony Hudson's comment.

If Lycett drops out, that probably saves Westhoff's bacon and gives Hayes his debut. Also, I'll run with Burton and Marshall as ready to return and SPP getting screwed over at the tribunal.

Updated changes:

In: Burton, Duursma, Hayes (debut), Marshall
Out: Bonner (omit), Lycett (inj), Motlop (omit), Powell-Pepper (susp)

A match report is 'cream on top'? Carn mate.
In this interview Kane asks Schoey about Hayes, Watts etc which is exactly what I said should happen during these coach interviews.

I’m with you on this. We just have to win games of footy, a slip up against one of these bottom sides which nearly happened against hawthorn could be disastrous for our top 4 chances.

We’ve got to win 3 of our next 4.

If that incorrect disposal was called in the Mayes tackle, then the SPP tackle doesn't happen. However, the SPP tackle, McEvoy lands on his ass first and foremost. Nothing in it - as we all know

Would love to see Hayes get a debut if there is doubt on Lycett.

A lot of people thought Melbourne would beat us because Gawn would smash Ladhams. But Ladhams was competitive enough to nullify that advantage for the most part. And Sinclair is no Gawn.

Hayes is also a handy enough forward to rest in the pocket and be a nuisance.

Hayes knows how to lead as a forward he could probably teach Chuck a thing or two.

Hayes should play regardless of if Lycett does or not. Bring him in for Hoff if he does. Lycett being regularly injured is a worry, but we still have time to look at our other options in preparation for if he goes down in the finals. It would be stupid not to.

perhaps he has up until the last two minor round games to get himself AFL fit. I personally would play him against the bombers if he and the coaches think he can handle it.
Re: Westy/Hayes? Westy’s impact on the game last Saturday was minimal, so playing Hayes against the hawks would, you think, had made no difference to the result. There were a couple of young ruckman who made their debut with other sides this weekend - I know for sure that one was the Brisbane boy and he did not embarrass. Please go for Sammie!

In the few minutes of the leftovers trial I saw through the fence at the western end ticket box :p Hayes took a strong mark on the lead and converted the set shot into a blustery breeze that had defeated Ladhams and Cox from a similar position.

Yeah, I'd go along with that if Burton is right and SPP is outed. I wish I could be as sure of Burton being fit as I am that SPP with get a holiday.

The thing is Motlop figured in three of our nine goals and Ken will look at that and think, 'Motlop is an integral part of our side' no matter that he did next to nothing for the rest of the game.

Hayes and Lycett in the same team doesn't work. Hayes is a number 1 ruck without the agility to play forward. Hayes' opportunity is to replace Lycett long term. This is the first chance he's had to take his spot due to injury and if Lycett is injured we MUST play Hayes. If we don't, then someone needs to ask Ken what they're seeing internally around Hayes, because externally given what we saw in the SANFL over the last couple years, we'd be crazy not to get as many games into him, as early as possible.
