Assuming Lecras really is somewhat injured. Why the **** would he have been getting games over Hill?

Hoping that Karpany can get enough of it this week, not sure if maybe Hill will be rotating at HBF throughout the game as he's done before or replacing Lecras as the really high forward, Karpany in Duggan's old HFF and Duggan to stay at HBF?

Aside from the tall backline I'm pretty satisfied with those ins. Particularly pleased Karpany is getting another crack. 15 possessions would be a good target for him this week.

Very happy we kept EMac in the side, lock down defenders are what we need. If we continue to let McGovern and co zone off their players at the pointy end of the season we will again just get the floor wiped with us.

agree Emac will supply good leadership down back, too bad he missed the 2015 Grand final ..

Fair points but cockatoo came off in the first quarter so that's a small sample size to claim that as a success

With Hurn also down back we look cumbersome
Agree with you that it wasnt proof of a success . I remember Schofield playing a good game on Johnson from Bulldogs years ago so its not a role he hasnt done but he ( Schofield )bulked up and played the bigger blokes when Brown and Emac went down . Sorry I cant remember anyone else Schofield particularly played on and done a good job on as he hasnt stood out in my memory bank

Poor petal LeCras has had his ego managed and out injured, not dropped. Wonder if he has dropped the retirement threat like he did last year?

Sheed has been the best mid sized forward of late and considering he plays midfield too shows the drop off of forwards like Hill and Lecras . I think Sheed has replaced Masten as a forward that actually kicks goals .

Perhaps you can start a 100+ page thread of your own. Anyone would think you've got an axe to grind [emoji854]

Great to see Karps in and Cole retained. Hill back in is a sign we are still semi motionless. Bit disappointing

I love the teamsheet for this weekend! Great job WCE!

Now for them to stick with it and just rotate Partington/Mutimer/Venables (when fit) through Karps and Cole's spots if/when they get tired after 3-4 games each.

Do not bring Lecras back!

I wish they'd just say

Out: Lecras (shit form)

Him being out is the important thing.
I have no problem respecting the vets by deeming it an injury or 'managed'.

It's in the nature of a competitive athlete to always back to themselves to return to form,
therefore it's up to the MC to have the balls to make the hard changes when needed.

Looking at his body language from the Geelong game I think he's been genuinely hampered by injury the past few weeks, thus his drop in form. I think he's actually given it everything he has (especially once JK went down), he probably felt an added responsibility to push through the injury and show some leadership in the forward line, just physically he couldn't play at his best and his body's probably hurting extremely now. Should probably be giving him more credit for playing through the pain than we have, everyone being a bit hard on him i think, myself included.

I'd say he's put his hand up to step down now after realising he can't physically compete at his optimum level and he probably thinks there's a younger player that can have a turn and come in and step it up, an action which should also be respected i think.

I have no problem accepting he is carrying an injury

My opinion is that if that was the case it's no mitigating factor - if you're not fit, you don't play. 'Feeling an added sense of responsibility is no reason to take the spot of someone else who might contribute if you can't.

I am similarly disappointed that Darling ended up playing against the GC for those reasons. The players need to have it drilled into them that if you make the decision to play when you can't go at the level required, you're hurting the team and that's on you.

I think you are wrong on this one, you are basically asking for a player with a little niggle of an injury to say I don't want to play. I think most people would call that soft. It is in the same ballpark as saying it is ok not too chase because you are a little puffed.

We demand 110% from our players. The player should be putting there hand up for selection even if they have had there leg cut off. In my opinion it is the MC who need to decide if a player is good to go or not.

As shit as lecras has been, there's a strong possibility we have just seen the last of a club legend. It's unfortunate that he didn't break the the 400 goal mark and the 200 game Barrier :(.

Yeah nah sorry, of course players should have a say regarding their health, otherwise in certain cases these 'niggles' may progress to longer-term injury. It's 2017 and footy is a profession like any other.

Went missing too often to be considered a club legend IMO

Only four goals in 11 games vs arch rivals Sydney, for example. (he has never kicked a goal against them away from Subiaco).

I don't disagree about the last part at all - the buck does stop with the MC. The point I was trying to get at is that no player should feel like their teammates can't get the job done without them, especially if they're not going to be at something near their best.

I can't speak for LeCras so I can't say for sure that he was selfish or otherwise, but if he really was putting his hand up despite playing through injury, because he thought he was better at 50% than another guy who might come in and contribute, well... in my opinion that would be incredibly arrogant.

Bit harsh as lecras in his prime was as a good of a small Forward as Betts(his goals per game is still higher than Eddie's) is atm. Sure he wasn't as of Livewire when the footy hit the deck but he was one hard match up. Funnily that came when we were a dung heap. Unfortunately that ACL wrecked him and instead of being a 250 goals player with +500 goals he will now retired with just under 400 goals a game and a few games shy of his 200th.
