Correct I am judging and so are the coaches, results or performances speak louder than potential

Wouldn't you say?

Go out rip up the SANFL like Greenwood was then you will get your go, Gooches performances haven't been anywhere near that, go see how Beech did it he won the B and F last year

Hang on, you've said Galluci's output would be below Douglas based on his one game, it's "proven".

Douglas had 14 possessions on the weekend, so he's matched his output.

Do you think if Galluci was picked this weekend he could get 14 possessions?

Apples for Apples

SANFL v AFL

You comment makes no sense either that or you think players performing in the SANFL should be playing AFl like the Margery medalist Kirkwood

What are you talking about?

You said Galluci's one AFL game is proof his output can't match that of Douglas. Douglas had 14 possessions in the AFL so I am comparing AFL to the AFL. You've brought the SANFL into this because your initial position has holes in it.

Lol. Debating with Marty is like reading a choose you own adventure book.
Only attempt if you love tangents and the mystery of where his next post will take you.

I love it and am a sucker for a good mystery.

That's what I thought when you said Galluci's AFL output was proven after one game.

Should you compare no games

He hasnt been ripping it up in the sanfl like Greenwood was maybe we should see if Gore or Ben Jarman can handle AFL aswell whilst we are testing players in a year when we are a chance at a flag

But you ruled him out after one AFL game, you said that was the proof you needed and that's a crazy position to take. Unless of course you have faves you are trying to protect.

Apologies for the intrusion but is Sloane injured? Or was the iced calf just precautionary?

Cheers :thumbsu:

No official news yet I believe. We've seen it done as a precaution to a lot of our players after the games already sealed however so I wouldn't go dropping him from your fantasy/supercoach just yet.

Was very interesting to hear that Seedsman was sick last week and hence the poor numbers.

When (I think it was Teague) said this, it kind of sounded like they knew this was the case and didn't expect him to play well. To me that means they said, look your sick but still play as we need to get the run into your legs regardless of how you play. i.e. they would rather sacrifice his game output for fast tracking his match fitness so his AFL return wasn't pushed back a week or 2.

With good numbers yesterday I think he is a in.

In: Greenwood, Seed
Out: Thommo, Milera (could also be DMac, Cameron, Douglas but I think Milera will be the one)

If Brown doesn't pull up well then Doedee gets a gig. Kelly's game hurts him as a poor game from Kelly could have seen that change. I think Kelly knew this and pleasingly responded to that selection pressure which is a great trait. Shows the benefit of depth pushing for a spot but also a real good sign for Kelly and his resolve, the type of response that gives you more confidence a player is up to an increase in pressure like a final brings (although his disposal in that context still worries me)

I don't know how people can continually defend Cameron's very average performances and yet get stuck into MacKay.

It blows my mind. Barring a quarter here and there Cameron has been nothing but terrible this year.

10 disposals @ 50% efficiency with 5 clangers Friday night. Sorry forgot about those 2 huge tackles he had.

He has played 64 games now and is 23 years old. He needs to be earning his spot now. It can just be about development at detriment to the team. What because he runs fast and looks flashy he gets to stay?

For me its:

Out: Cameron, Thommo
In: Greenwood, Seed

If Brown is injured then Doedee comes in.

In
Greenwood, Seedsman

Out
Rhompson, Milera

Thin Ice
Cameron, DMac

Consider resting Brown who has got pretty banged up over the past month

Brown (inj) > Doedee
Thompson (retired to stud) > Greenwood
Milera or Cameron (rest/form) > Lynch if good to go
Mackay (not best 22) > Seedsman if good to go

Douglas under the pump from Wigg/Galluci

I think people have been excusing CC on the basis
- still young
- personal issues impacting on mental state
- expectation of senior player

Now none of those matter in the context of stats but they explain the mentality of the posters who do ignore this issue

Yep. CC gets dropped before Milera. This was supposed to be the year CC stepped up and grabbed the game by the scruff. Round 1 had us all excited. But instead he has reverted to the mean.

First things first, Greenwood for Thommo. Friday night was sad watching Thommo, it's been clear for a while that he isn't up to it and quite frankly I think it's the clubs duty to know when to pull the pin. Unfortunately the things that made Thommo such a successful footballer, are the very reasons he'll struggle to retire when the times right. I'm talking about his competitiveness, professionalism and all round stubbornness. The club unfortunately has always struggled to say "no" to Thommo, we all remember the quote "you try tell Thommo he's not playing..." when he was injured and struggling in 13/14 and needed to be rested. The club needed to grow a set at the end of last year and say no. Unfortunately we've ended up with what happened on Friday night. I will never begrudge a player for wanting to give it one last shot, it would be unimaginably hard to call time on your career as a successful AFL footballer. It's easy for us to sit here and comment. The club need to be strong enough and objective enough to say "nope, it's time mate."

Anyways, as for the rest of the changes, I'd say Lynch is a good couple of weeks away at least, he would have lost a lot of fitness and condition and no point rushing him at this stage.

Milera's on the edge, given the nxt games in Darwin and we'll have a 6 day break afterwards, I'd be tempted to retain Milera this week, but swap him the following week for Seedsman.

Similar with Cameron, he played poorly, but gets another week, if he can't sort his shit out, Gallucci or Menzel replace him.

Kelly must have been having a good chat to Mackay, because boy did he pull one out of his rear end when he needed it. Doedee's going to have to wait another week I suspect, although I'd like to see them give him some time through the midfield/forward. When he was recruited, the comments were that he was more than a medium defender, we haven't seen that yet though.

Agree. Milera might not be getting huge amounts of it but what he does get he uses well. He is also 19 with only just over 20 games. Once you get past 50 AFL games I feel its more about team benefit rather than development. Not saying you can't keep on developing players after they have played 50 games but it can no longer be used as an excuse for continuous poor performances. Blighty used to say you would know how good a player is going to be after only 30 games.

Seriously we need to develop a sidestep with MacKay, because if he learns how to baulk/step players then he'll be very very useful. He's always in the right spots and presents as an option for link up play but...no side step costs him a lot of the time.
Surely our midfield coach would have worked this out by now?
