With more senior players like Seedsman and Cheney coming back it will be these who will and should come back. It doesnt mean we dont make changes but that the changes are of players who have played. Unless a newbie goes on a high disposal jag in the SANFL the replacements should come from those who have played a higher quantity of games

The reason they have played a quantity of games is they have shown enough in the twos or even in the firsts as cheney showed last year, seeds hasn't proven a lot yet but seems capable

Menzel is the interesting he showed an enormous amount of talent at Carlton but has failed to deliver here

Given we have only a 6 day break to the Cats Friday night game from the Melbourne game likely to be played in hotter than normal conditions... We really need to be clever with our player management... otherwise we will have the Cats run over us yet again.

Greenwood for Thommo should be a given.

Seedsman, Gallucci & Doedee should all be in the mix to come in either this week or next.

Similarly, Cameron, Milera & Brown if injured, should be managed over the next 2 weeks.

We should be managing players better than we did last year, when we ran some players into the ground by the time we made the finals.

Depending on the game, we need to finish top 2 from where we sit so yes rest but be careful who against probs Collingwood not sure who else

Lynch should be back next week everyone better perform this week or they will find themselves in the gun

Cameron is lightning quick and as hard as nails. His pressure is outstanding and he runs with the ball making every possession count for more. Even in his current slump he is still easily justifying his spot.

Charlie is probably in better form than Eddie anyway. Now we have the balance right the form will come.
Charlie is NOT in better form than Eddie.

The slack that we cut this guy is borderline ridiculous, he's played 60 games and isn't any better than he was in game 10.

He's a guy completely devoid of confidence, just watch him run down the wing....... And then stop. He's also picking and choosing when he hits a contest.

At lot will hate me for this comment, but its 100% the truth.

Unless we have injuries we should not be trying to blood any more youth at this point in the season. The youth we have put through and given exposure to is fine but what is left will not improve our flag chances as their talent is one that needs to be nurtured at AFL level and isnt natural.

We are a real shot at a flag this year. All focus must be put on this.

This is why I loved Greenwood being rested. Shows a commitment by the club that he is a part of our plans for September. Milera will have a week off soon as well.
So form doesn't come into it?

Everyone was hoping his next step of development was this year but it hasn't happened

Will it happen

Hard as nails - and sloppy with tackles - gave away two very dumb frees against the Bulldogs going in "hard" but high.
Runs with the ball... and then on the weekend kicked into the man . He had 5 kicks and 2 tackles in a 10 goal win. Let's not see more than is there.

- Seedsman in for Mackay
- Greenwood in for Thompson
- Menzel in for Cameron
- Doedee in for Brown

Brown needs a week off if his not 100%. Cameron isn't right give him a rest he may need to do a mini pre season or something.

Eddie has been horrendous for a month.

Cameron was sensational early this year how quick some forget.

Half forward can be a graveyard i remember all the same comments about Knight after the north game.

Cameron Milera Knight all on track to be very good players and easily in our best side. Anyone with sense will realise they won't get 20 and 2 every week!

You just called it CC did have some great games like Douglas like Sloane like tex like Betts go check the coaches votes those players didn't have them magically appear

Players have been up and down all year the trick is to get them all up at the same time all of those players listed have the ability and will be there come finals as we don't have anyone in the twos as good as them

Early in the first Cameron was involved in a pressure play on some short Bulldogs handballs in front of me, made a lacklustre attempt at reaching out his arm as he overran the Bulldog and ended up jogging into the fence. The look on his face was that of a man who didn't want to be there.

Thommo has to go. He looked very slow and in co-ordinated. Any-one who suggest he play 3-4 week in the top side needs some psychiatric help. Love him in the past but its past him by. The other I agree with. Only question is Charlie.

His body language screamed it the entire game.

Cameron is clearly better than Menzel. We need a fully fit Cameron come finals so if he is carrying something best deal with it now.

Willing to give CC another week but he botched his run on Friday by bouncing it every three steps and not looking up.
Mackay as much as I would like the numpty out he did more than others.
Milera is so out of form and isn't doing nearly enough. Seeds in for him.
Greenwood for Thommo is the easiest swap. Don't think Thommo gets another game, but our selections have been poor for most of the season
You could make a case for doedee for brown, but not likely.
The Melbourne game is a must win and we will need a fast side who can bring the mongrel we showed Friday night. B Crouch is starting to show some good form. The dees aren't the same side we played and lost to, but should be a win

Have to win this. Melbourne are down without Viney and Jones. We should be too good if we come to play.

Greenwood and Seedsman in for Thompson and Cameron.
Cameron was non existent Friday night and needs to find some form. We can't carry players against top 6 teams and expect to win.
Milera may only have had 11 touches but his kicking is sublime and he's still having an impact by hitting targets.
If Brown is injured Doedee in.
Douglas needs to perform because Galluci is coming for him.

It's yucky up here too at the moment. Humidity too high for the dryseason.

Only one change this week.
Out: Thompson
In: Greenwood
Would play knight or gov in the midfield when greenwood off the ground.

Borderline:
Milera.
Possibility Gallucci/Seedsman may come in for Milera.

Injuries:
If Brown injured Doedee may get a start.
Sloane should be fine.

Just watched the game again on youtube. Thompson sadly looked lost, couldn't keep up with the play (gave away two high free kicks reaching out as players ran away from him), Just can't carry him in the team.
MacKay... The stoy of his game... The first half of the 3rd term, Crows are on top in the half back line (Mainly thanks for Lever/Kelly) and a number times they go through MacKay playing on the far side (right) wing.
1. Got handball from McGov, drops the ball, lucky to get a free kick. Long bomb into F50, Great mark by Tex
2. Gets ball on the far wing, kicks blindly into a Bulldog player, gets ball back and while being tackled HB to Jacobs feet.
3. Short 15m kick back into the centre over the head of a crow player, macked by a Bulldog player
4. 20m kick blind kick from the back of the pack at half back straight to a Bulldog player
5. 50m kick up the far side wing to a two crows (Betts/CC) and 1 Bulldog. Poor kick in the end and CC gave away a free.
We mainly stop going down the right wing (MacKay) and start going through the centre and the left wing (Atkins/Milera)
He didn't touch the ball again that term.

My point, MacKay works hard on his wing/halfback line. He runs into open space alot on the wing to get the ball and the players are happy to give it to him. But what's the bloody point when 50% of the time he turns it over with a poor kick or just bombs it long. That 3rd term is just shows the problem he has, the Crows are on top in the game and moving the ball with speed to the F50, till MacKay gets the ball... he tries hard but just has poor skills and easiely pushed out of contests.

CC is clearly mentally out of form. You of stick with him (was first game back from a week off injury), give him a week off footy totally or two weeks in the SANFL.

Milera just needs more of the ball and more confidence in himself, still has the skill of ball use though.

Ins:
Greenwood, Seedsman
Outs:
Thompson, CC

If Brown isn't 100% give him a rest as he is so important to side and finally see what Doedee can do.
Like MacKay out too as he is really a weak link in the team, but we know the coaches aren't going to...

Really 50 % of the time the mistruths on the board continue to grow

Getting ourselves in the best position at a flag this year has to be no 1 priority first. That means securing a top 2 spot on the ladder. Not one of our games in the run home lends itself to being a game where top players can be rested. If we have secured top 2 spot before rd 23's game against West Coast then I'd say yes lets rest a few.
I don't agree with that either, with the finals bye it will mean rested players won't have played for 2weeks....not good. They'll get their break with all other finalists after Rnd 23

It's a balancing act how much rest you want to give them a week or two out you would expect everyone to play

But you need your best team in against the cats and Sydney for sure

Would you rest anyone this week being an away game

No. Although Melbourne are down a few players they are still a dangerous outfit. We'll have to be at our best to beat them.
