You'd give up Galluci and pick 15-18 in this draft in an absolute flash

Apparently we were only talking to two players? One who approached us (Gibbs)

We have had that many players poached i can't understand why we couldn't get atleast one back.

So you wouldn't take Gibbs for Galluci and some guy picked in late teens this year tha would be close to pick 35 in most drafts ? In hindsight it's a massive error

If they had of picked Hayward or PP maybe not

The only excuse would have been because we picked a ready made player like PP or a potential generational player like Hayward

Not a role player like Galluci

As for this years draft ! It's hard to get excited about anyone other than Rayner who will be the clear pick 1

Like I said the players have got to want to come here I have no doubt every club would talk to every players manager that is interesting in moving or out of contract we spoke to Barlow and he declared where he wanted to go and it wasn't here

Gibbs is having a great year but who could predict that. On his career, hes been a solid b but an a grader know.
Giving Carlton what they wanted would have been good in hindsight but if he came here and played average, we'd be here saying why did we do that

The young players we are talking of being the first year players it is very very unlikely they would have any impact, they arent having an impact at SANFL level, I expect Thommo to get BOG this weekend, Doedee could have had a crack but was wrong place wrong time, Kelly was elevated as Doedee was injured and Cheney injured and cemented his spot, not only do we see Doedee on the outer but Cheney who offers a lot more not looking like forcing his way in either, good place to be with pressure for spots

Milera is the only young one showing some signs and he is even struggling

Only players that will probably be needed come finals that arent in teh team are Milera , Cheney and Harto, do we realistically need anymore

How does the club handle it if Thommo is destroying the SANFL better than any other player in our reserves?

You're right. It was unlikely the young players would have made an impact. But as you pointed out, look at Kelly this year. No one expected him to really make an impact this year, but given games, he's become a handy player. One we can rely on, even if he is ultimately squeezed out of the team. Our unwillingness to drop Hartigan, who had been poor for 6-8 games, meant we haven't taken a look at another young guy who could, given games, perform a role. Likewise with Mackay.

And Milera, Cheney and Hartigan are all currently injured. If the seniors pick up injuries this week, then someone needs to come in. Given the importance of pretty much every match from here on in, I would prefer to be bringing in guys who have at least 2-3 games under their belt. But maybe that's just me.

As for Thommo. We do with him what we've done the last few years with others who won't be playing the next year due to not being good enough. We simply don't play him, regardless of form in the SANFL.
