Yes Fred B right on mark look at assistant coaches .
Bickley -- ex Crows player been nowhere else.
Clark -- average ex Crows player no coach experience elsewhere
Milburn -- Friend of Sandos and no previous coach experience.
Camporeale - Was replaced at Carlton so picked up by us to return home .
Polous --fitness coach was at club in another role and promoted .
Then we have others in footy dept well entrenched from within like Noble and Fab. Phil who been blundering in all roles given .
Yes Stewart and particular Jonas been held back as actually have opinions .
Getting Lade as ruck coach is a must as was getting Walsh when wanted to come back to Adelaide and of course Burgess ( how dare he ask that much to do fitness ) A forward coach is also high on list but even more as of right now get experienced Bailey replacement.

Poulos and Ogilvy are my main gripes.
If they were the BEST candidate for the job, no problems...
But did the club actually try and attract the best? I highly doubt it... I will never be able to comprehend why we didn't move heaven and earth to get Burgess.

Id like to see this next year

Head Coach: Brenton Sanderson
Midfield Coach: Michael Voss
Defensive Coach: Darren Milburn (our defence has been far from the issue)
Forwards Coach: Someone with some idea on how a forward line works?
Head of Coaching: Mark Thompson
Conditioning/Fitness: Someone with a clone of Darren Burgess' brain.

Lets be realistic with players:

Definite outs at the end of the year: Rutten (ret), Graham (del), Porps (del)
Need to move on some of: Reilly (ret/del), Petrenko (tra/del), Wright (tra), L. Thompson (tra/del), Martin (tra/del), McKernan (tra/del)

If I remember 100% right, Sando wanted to, Trigg said no to offering more than a certain amount of money for a fitness guy and I believe something like that they're overrated..

They lost Schwerdt for the same reason apparently, Gold Coast offered the cash and we wouldn't..

Maybe we should take a leaf out of Gold Coasts book... Nah, might be too much work

The story is we helped Schwerdt move on. Because we'd hired Poulos, with the expectation he'd take over. Just seems he hasn't gotten the mix right.

So if we traded Petrenko, Thompson, Martin & Mckernan combined we would get pick 55 and a pack of chewing gum. Wright won't get us much but as a depth player he is worth more than his trade value.

Yeah but have to get some kids into squad and in deep draft better than those that are going nowhere and might be worthwhile to pick up a couple of 22- 25 type as well . But with pick 80 + might elevate 2 rookies EG Cameron -- Osborn .
we have to get some decent depth and future into club.

Not saying we'd get much, thats why the (del) option is avialbale for most.

Wright is a trade or stay option...he might be worth holding on to.

Players to be consider/should be cut
Janesch, Petrenko, Martin, Porps
Graham, L.Thompson, Mckernan, Johnston

players to consider trading
Lyons- almost certain to happen for more opportunities, is out of contract
Wright- if a good deal come up look at but is contracted

Free agents
Mackay

Possible retirements
Rutten

i also think Burgess had his mind set on returning to Port Adelaide.

Lions chopped favourite son in Voss, whereas AFC does not make tough decisions...

And they are still a ****ing shambles. I think they got this wrong - as much as I was calling for Voss's head early on, I think he'd turned the corner. Anyways, they did and here we are.

Something that was interesting to hear from one of the players we got from Brisbane (maybe a rookie?) was that he'd spoken to Sando more in his first two weeks than he had Voss the whole time he
How about Voss as midfield coach? Guy was one of the best of his era

Clarke, Bicks and Campo need to go. Dasher needs a review

Rehn in as ruck coach, Voss for mids and someone good for the forward line. Any suggestions?

New fitness coach

New "advisor" to Sando. Someone with experience with the modern game. Thompson would be ideal, but thats a big fish to land

Tell Sando he's got 1 year (2015) to show we can compete again with the new set up

Would love a Geelong type review from 2006 to sweep all the DEAD wood out and start again. We have the list, but this fish is rotting from its head

Voss was apparently not a great communicator with the players from what I hear.

Is Rehn up with the new needs and requirements of a modern day ruck? Things have changed markedly since he rucked.

I know that some of you will think this is a silly question but I must admit I am a little in the dark about our clubs set up.

Recently our club was released by the SANFL and now owns its own licence. I was under the impression that members would be given voting rights and that we would have a say in the who would be on the board via a vote. Obviously I am wrong. So many here want to get rid of Trigg and Harper. So many of the people here are totally disillusioned with the entire board.

Can someone please give a simply explanation as to what is the real situation and whether its going to change in the future........I know Vader would know.

Pretty sure they decided not to change the set up this year (as we just took hold of the licence) but I suspect will move to member voted board member spots next year.

I think you have to keep Jaensch on 2014 performances so far.
Sure he wouldnt be in my starting 22 but as a depth player he'll be handy to have.

Agree with everything else you've said.

Does anyone reckon Mackay will leave? I hear he really wanted to stay and hence didnt agree to a trade last year...

get your hand off it... The chances of getting Thompson, let alone Voss as well are crazy unrealistic.

Doesnt change the fact that it would be a very good move and something I would like to see.
I never once said I thought it was going to happen...

I dont see why getting one of them would be unrealistic though.

So giving players an extra year and having it served in the sanfl, as Reilly will likely do, is a non issue. Bit of wasted salary cap and a spot on the list, who cares eh stab. Another area of the club where we embrace mediocrity from the person in charge. Drag out negotiations, pfft. You've likely purchased and/or sold a house or 2 stab. Agreement might take a month or longer to complete, but how much actual time is spent between the making of the first offer and final acceptance. There can be a fair bit of lead up work, and successfully managing a list of 40 players with a salary cap would require a bit of it, but once the initial offer has been tabled, there isn't a great deal of variation that can occur and the fact is that the bulk of the work has been done.

The likelihood of Reilly spending those two years in the SANFL (as much as many here would like it) is very low. It's a very low risk/reward signing, one that's not worth spending much time on. "Embracing mediocrity" is not really applicable here.

I've never been in a situation where I'm managing the purchasing/selling of 20 houses at once. If I was, I'd probably sign off on the easy one first.

This never happened. There was a rumour about it, but no, it didn't happen.

I think with Burgess, Richmond reportedly offered him $400k which was $50k over what we offered and $70-80k over what Port offered.
His Mrs really wanted to be in Adelaide so Port had to up their offer a little and got him. Burgess then said he most likely was only ever to go back to Port anyway.

Sack Trigg and give that money to Burgess.

Not 2 years in the sanfl stab. The 2nd of the 2 years. Next year. He is contracted to the end of next year isn't he.
