Teams have to pay 90% of the salary cap. Griffin Logue got an offer too good to refuse and Erasmus probably will too.

I don't know the numbers but lets say Freo offer Erasmus 2 years at 400k and the Eagles offer 3 or 4 years at 700k where he's a walk up start in their best 22 that's hard to knock back.
Sure I read we've offered him 3 at $600k?

Banfield won us the game with a perfectly executed corridor kick against Collingwood.
it's almost become a meme at this point. he's going to dine out on this one moment for the rest of his career, isn't he? He didn't "win the game" for us lmao, it was merely one of many moments that ultimately contributed to the win. The guy who actually kicked the goal and all the defensive efforts that followed were just as pivotal. The reason people bring it up incessantly imo is because it was so out of character for Banners, it was like Dizzy Gillespie's double century or Ryan Nyhuis's 4 goals, one great kick has been enough to mythologise his value to the team.

I do think Banners has been very solid overall, and i still like him as a super sub, but he remains a weak link in the team and one we should improve upon if we can.

Banfield kicking out of bounds 40m v Sharp tucking the ball under his arm, running his 15 and kicking it out of bounds 55m.

It’s a close contest but I’ll take the extra 30m!
Banfield pulled off a couple of belters into the corridor last night too. I’m no banners fan, but his last month has been real solid. Sharp is also rubbish in the contest.

Banfield is a ‘Mr fix it’ utility type that can ‘play’ near any position. Just none of them well, just serviceable.

Sharp is a winger… that’s it.

If we’re proper full strength neither should be in the side.

I really want Wagner back. Surprised he went back to WAFL. Hopefully it was just a case of needed a run.

He’s best 22 each week, no questions, for mine.

Banners is here to stay if we make finals and I'm here for it. We need to retain our 100+ game players if we want to go deep into finals. Every premiership team has role players like Banners so idk what all the fuss is about. His versatility means Dudley and Noddy make way for other players before he does.

Can't be dropping Banfield after one bad game, he's had a good season for us, but Wagner is almost a must to come in surely?

Anyone calling for sharp has quickly forgotten what an absolute liability his kicking is.
His kicking (and contest work) is probably in a bad enough state to make the difference, but NOD is showing that the fat side wing role this season is awful to play for us. You run all day to hardly touch the ball, and that probably messes with your rhythm the few times you get it. NOD switching to that role has made him look like a spud as well.

Would anyone be adverse to the following:
Wagner > Dudley
Walker > Noddy

Got to keep Banners in because he is versatile and has experience.

I think Wags for Dudley is fine but I would keep Dizzy. He is out of sorts a bit but is important role player. Don’t think Walks is “ knocking it out of the park” at Peel either.

I hope the coaching group are extremely conservative in bringing Fyfe into the 22. Brisbane win on transition and all of Jackson, Darcy, Fyfe, JOM and Erasmus trying to stop that transition is terrifying on paper. No risk of being bullied in the middle this game, we are at risk of getting cut open.

Wagner and Simpson should come into the 22 IMO. Simpson can change how we move the ball and picked up right where he left off at WAFL.

Big yes to Simpson. Who does Wags tag?

Wagner for Dudley makes sense to me.

Back to back 6 day breaks might mean we consider another change or two? Especially as both games were tough slogs. So maybe wags for nod instead?

I would roll the dice with Simpson. Sure we lose a bit defensively, but let's attack the game. Our forward line is proving to be one of the best in the league and attacking from back half helps us if the midfield is not dominant.

Out: Banfield, Dudley, NOD
In: Johnson (fingers crossed), Simpson, Wagner

Fyfe will stay sub based on what JL said in his press conference.

What are Brisbanes strengths st the moment.

Poor rucks.
1 young good kpf.
Good small forwards.
Great depth in midfield and backline, but injuries starting to hurt.
Great attacking ball movement.

Who takes Morris? Pearce hopefully.

Wagner to Zorko. If not, who takes him.

Can we stop there ball movement, if they get balls out the back we will struggle.

Will the ruck dominance lead to centre clearances dominance?

The other thing to consider is 6 day break for us vs 6.5 day break for Brisbane, but travelling across the country.

If Zorko plays down back I would love to see Voss run through him like a freight train.

like this thinking not just against Lions but for the following week. Bevo's basically come out and said 'gloves off, you score 10, we'll score 11'. defense not a priority for Dogs atm, they'll beat you in the clearance and then go score.

a shootout against them is what i fear most, and it's likely what'll happen unless we dominate clearances.

Agree with this. The other thing is constant decision making to either hold your width or come up to contest. That demands a lot of mental energy. Holding width often means that player looks like one of those wavy arms car-yard air dancing tube men. Never get used just run up and down the oval. On the other hand if you choose to impact contest it better be the right decision or you come off looking like an idiot.
