Going a bit early on this one. Happy to get through the first month with minimal if any in-game injuries for the first time since 24AD. Some changes are forced through form, some will get lucky but they need to know they aren’t totally safe (looks at Easton Wood).
Trengove for Gowers - hasn’t become the dangerous third marking talk he looked primed to be this season. Still time, but needs to show something in the VFL.
Trenners (to his mates) is fit again & showing signs of what we could have used tonight (and last week for that matter) - mature body, willingness, goals, beard. 26 disposals, 2.2, 26 hit outs in the VFL today. Will help English out & give someone in the forward line to kick to and/or crash a pack which Gowers isn’t doing.
Lipinski for Richards - young Ed has the tools but needs to find consistency, has been getting a small amount of the ball but not doing much with it. That’s dangerous if you’re not a KPP. Probably needs a bit of a rest & rack them up at the lower level to show where he belongs & what he can do.
That’s what Lippa (to his mates) has been doing, a tidy 20 possessions today in reduced match time (apparently, match day emergency?) to go with a fair chunk of it last week & bigger chunks in the last couple of scratchies. Just feel we’d get more output from him than Richards at the moment.
Wood lucky we aren’t swimming in defenders that can take his spot, bad last week & worse tonight. Williams first choice if we make any defensive changes. A couple of others need to lift, but can do with some help. Webb has had a couple of good games but will find it hard to get a spot due to his previous struggles when going up a level. Hayes could also be given a chance, but he’s someone that could only be a midfielder & that’s not a part of the ground we are doing badly.
Thoughts?
